Browncoats!

As time passes and keeps counting, we slowly lose our cohesion. Entropy is the way of things. If we have any hope of keeping it shiny, we have to reinvigorate the movement. It would help if Joss would give us a shot in the arm. But, if he won't, its up to us to provide the adrenailine.

WE're fading. And fast.

I don't have a ready solution, but somthing needs done, and soon. We need to action.

This is what I've been saying from time to time for a long while. The problem being that people always /say/ that something needs to happen but *no-one* takes the responsibility into there own hands. On the exception to this rule, support is effectively non-existent.

Though, this:

http://verse.scifilog.com/index.php

Is an exception to that. I would imagine that it's only be because it delivers a product on announcement and people play it, the DON'T have to actually do anything. It's fun from the get go.

For people actually willing to work, I believe writers (among other things) are needed here:

http://s4.invisionfree.com/GunRunner/index.php?act=idx

But, there is also modding games, or writing fan fic, or creating other types of content.

But, I highly doubt that any of this will be done as they require a higher level of time commitment than people have been willing to give in the past. Hell, now even getting people to send emails proves problematic.

At least, that's what I've seen over the years that I've been actively involved in the community. Basically, you can have all the plans in the world, but effectively, people won't join because it takes effort.

Though, I'd be very happy to be proved wrong, I doubt that I am.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I disagree with you that we are fading. When the WGA strike is resovled, Joss will get to work on Dollhouse. Whether that is a success or not it will still invigorate the community because it will be something new, and it will bring in new fans who will then discover Joss' previous work. We have also been gaining new members here and at other forums who have recently discovered Firefly and/or Serenity. Our numbers are growing, I see no reason for despair.

At least I have not given up hope for new stories from the 'verse, and I do mean on the big and/or small screen, not just comics or other books.

I'm still holding, and we're still flying.

I'm not inclined to succumb to your view right now.
In 2007, It appears that several conventions took place, and some books, which I think might be Firefly Compainon Vol 1 (whoops, 2006) &2, Serenity Official Companion (whoops, 2005), Serenity Found, Those Left Behind, and others I don't recall right now.
Not as good as a sequel or new season of episodes, but I'm not convinced Joss has let it die just yet.
New books and conventions, 5 years after the series was cancelled by Execs who have all been fired from Fox - doesn't exactly sound like death to me. Or, "pretty spry for a dead show."

I don't think we're dead... shot in the leg maybe but not dead!

There really is a suprising amount of content out there for a TV show that didn't even make one full season run on television. And the fan base is REALLY impressive and I think has only been picking up speed.

Head over to the Guerilla marketing forum and start something! http://fireflyfans.net/threadlist.asp?b=20

Great to see people so dedicated to this show!

I'm with you E-C...

You know , for all we know , Joss may've worked

the deal with the 'F-network' , that if they get

what they want with Dollhouse , then

he'll get another whack at re-lighting Firefly...

Leastways , it's nice to dream that way...

Should "Pretty spry for a dead show" become our mantra, motto, or button/patch logo?

Alright, I ythought about this more. I've seen some cool t-shirts in my time, so consider this printed on then back of a T-shirt:

Heck yeah!

Browncoats have also diversified and are doing lots of good things that raise awareness of the "verse.

Can't Stop the Serenity showings in support of Equalty Now, Firefly for Firefighters, Kids Need to Read (I'm really involved tn this organization), Fans 4Writers and on and on.

All of these efforts are growing and bring more to see Firefly/Serenity.

Also, as the careers of the actors rise, so does Firefly. I may hook a Nathan Fillion fan by using Waitress or Desperate Housewives, but it isn't long before I offer to lend them the first disk of Firefly.

There is no more Alliance! Wake up! Joss is now back with FOX, the leader has made peace with the enemy, so we must surrender too. Everyone must send best wishes to the FOX executives and give them our love. We must let them know that we have no hard feelings for these last 5 years. Our leader is happy and well paid, so we must be happy and we must put smiles on our faces.

Should also add to that:

Serenity ranked #19 in DVD sales in 2007.

(if I recall reading that correctly)

So, umm?
Nobody likes or dislikes the idea?
