Virtual Firefly series StillFlying put out our first episode, “The Big Stick,” two years ago today. To celebrate our two-year anniversary, we’re back with our most recent episode, “Miranda.” (You can read our new episode right here: http://www.stillflying.net/Scripts/s2/219.pdf, or check out our older episodes at www.stillflying.net.)

This one is written by longtime crew members Katie Fiorino (also our virtual casting director) and Matt Engstrom (who also directed the episode, and who joined the crew in 2005 just in time to help clean up “The Big Stick”!).

Those of you who are familiar with our project are probably aware that it’s been quite a few months since our last episode. We’re back fighting the good fight now, and will air our next episode, “A Leaf on the Wind,” within the week. Until then, sit back, relax, and enjoy “Miranda.” We hope we’ve given a new twist to a familiar place.

Keep flying!

George

*****

For those of you who are not familiar with our project, Still Flying is a fan-based site dedicated to a "virtual continuation" of Joss Whedon's "Firefly" in the form of scripts of additional episodes. We've rounded out Season One, completing it with seven new episodes (including a season finale based on "Serenity: Those Left Behind" from Dark Horse Comics).

Season Two is dedicated to exploring the question, "What would things have been like if Joss Whedon had been able to tell the story of Serenity in 22 episodes rather than 2 hours?" Our story will take you to most of the same places the movie does, but the path along the way will be a little different, and a lot longer.

We'll see some old friends and more than a few old enemies. We can't promise that we'll entertain you as much as Mister Whedon would have, but you should know that this project has been put together by those who care about the show, and we're taking this bird up out of love.

Like most Browncoats, we know that Whedon will return to us with another movie, book, or some other way to continue the tale he started in "Firefly." Until that time, we'll be here. We will hold the line.

We can't show you exactly how Joss Whedon would've done it, but we can tell you...

Here’s how it might have been…

... fully loaded, safety off...

Congratulations to Virtual Firefly on 2 years and going strong.

I just read the first 3 lines of their newest ep. 2x19 "Miranda" and I was instantly transported once again to a very familiar 'verse:

=====================

Teaser:

EXT. SERENITY – DAY

The ship sits on the ground, filling the frame.

MAL, ZOE, and JAYNE stand near the airlock in full spacesuits and armed. Zoe reads
a handheld SCANNER. Mal and Jayne look around, on edge.

Zoe takes a few steps away, eyes on the scanner. Jayne takes a little experimental
jump.

JAYNE
Grav’s normal.

ZOE
Oh-two levels check, pressure... If there’s anything
wrong, the scanner ain’t reading it.

Mal pulls off his helmet. Breathes, looking around him.

MAL
Well, somethin’ sure as hell ain’t right.

==========================

From there things get pretty interesting...

If you haven't read any of VFF's eps this is a good one to start with.

Looking for fan created scripts that have believable characterizations and plausible plot expansions?

Check these out

Congratulations on a second year, Stillflying, and without giving away any spoilers, Miranda, is excellent!

Your interpretation and writing for River is the best I've seen, especially when she demands Mal's acknowledgement of her as a person and their resulting conversation.

Things seem a bit slow for Firefly this past week or two, so... bump. Here's some new Firefly material to read for those who haven't seen it.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Congrats StillFlying! Here's to many more years!
