Anyone know of any? (Or Star Wars-themed wedding readings, for that matter). I'm getting married in April, and my lovely bride-to-be is patient enough with my dual obsession (Star Wars/Firefly) that she might let a subtle reading pass.

Any suggestions? I've searched the internet, but can't find anything.

So Saffron's quote to Mal in his quarters in "Our Mrs. Reynolds" won't work?.... :)

I would pay money to see a wedding video where that was adapted into wedding vows.

I thought about Saffron's stuff... and figured my fiance is not that tolerant. :)

go visit the serenitymovie.org chatroom (bubblecats chat), Members Renoyes and Liam got hitched in Vegas browncoat style complete with a browncoat minister. I know their vows were verse inspired

Browncoats are the shiniest folks in the 'verse

This may sound slightly morbid and creepifying, but you could change Wash's "funeral" speech in Shindig to fit your needs: "Here stands my beloved finacee, my autumn flower..."

And congrats! I'm getting married in September, so I know what you're going through!

No power in the 'verse can stop me!

Congrats.

Ah, but how quick is your turnaround? I proposed on October 30, 2007. Six months later, we'll already be back from the honeymoon!!!

And I would pay money to see the honeymoon...well, maybe not see it...maybe just hear a spirited recounting of it...unless, of course, Christina Hendricks is involved, in which case we're right back to seeing...

Edit: ...and CONGRATULATIONS to Gwek and Ryce!

It was a plow-grabbin' frenzy when we got here!

The Triumph-settlers ceremony, its obvious.

She gives you a hat made out of a tree.
You drink her wine.
And then you dance holding hands, to that crazy happy tune from the episode.

I´d say that is perfect.
It doesnt have to be the main ceremony, but later in the evening you could get truly Firefly-y wed.

all the best

What about Mal's statement about "Love" in Serenity? A few tweaks and it would totally apply to marriage.
It might seem a little obvious to all of us, but to the general public it could be quite surprising and poignant.
Just my 2 credits...

"Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down.....tells ya she's hurtin 'fore she keens.....makes her a home."

Shouldn't take too much tweaking. It rings pretty true to a marriage as well.
