Hmm, when looking for a scene in Shindig, I suddenly noticed the brief reflection of a girl in a white T-shirt in Serenity's windshield! (marked off in red on the image below) Who is our mystery guest?? Don't seem to be any of the regular crew. Looks more like a film technician or some such. Oops! :)

And if my imagination is not getting the better of me, why, I believe that white T-shirt she's wearing has a Serenity logo on it!

...HUH...

Interesting. I'd say she's(are we sure it's a she?) either holding something or is just coincidentally wearing a shirt with a similar logo. Either that or it's a fake and you're either being duped or are the duper. I've never noticed it before but I've also never gone back frame for frame through Shindig.

If that is real, and you simply aren't duping us , then I'd say that would be a blooper by an extra being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Logos are not my concern; the presence of the girl, is. :) Though it certainly looks like the Serenity logo.

Hey now! Them ain't kosherized rules! At least it's not a nice thing to say to a fellow Browncoat. It's easily verifiable, too. It's on the standard DVD, and you don't need a frame stepper per se: it's in view for about half a second. I just noticed it by accident while watching.

Hey, no attack intended friend. I freely admitted I had not gone through Shindig frame for frame. It's interesting. Once I get a chance I'll take a look. I may just do that later tonight since I can't lay down or I feel like my sinuses and chest are cementing up. I hate colds. Anyway good find. Always nice to learn something new about Firefly... even if it is a blooper.

Actually, that isn't a reflection. On Persephone, if someone was accused of being a zombie, they'd take you to space and throw you out to burn up in atmo. And that's what that girl is.. A zombie in orbit that Serenity is about to bump into.

Thanks. The part I'm uncomprehending on, though, is how she got there. I mean, you can see a camera man in a window on Miranda, in the BDM; these things happen. But Serenity's windows are entirely CGI-filled: they are initially empty, as we can tell from several deleted scenes, and just marked with an X for CGI filling at a later time. So, what happened there? Hard to imagine they CGI-ed her in. :) And the continuation of the yellow glow suggests that they didn't just simply forget that part of the window.

Maybe she was an extra standing in the background when that shot was filmed, and they just CGIed over her and thoght that the CGI covered her up, but it didn't work out that way for that frame.

Or, you never know, it could have been a CGI person having a laugh and playing a joke, or Joss could have even put her there to give us a mystery

Thanks, Riverflan. :) I'm now thinking indeed the former: that they just CGI-ed over her, lol. I mean, if you think about it, it's most like not the place of the CGI folks to decide whose reflection where is valid or not (far as they know, that person could have been there for legit reasons: they're not the Director); so, the man tells em to fill in a spot, they just fill it up, no questions asked. :)

As for the alleged Serenity logo, it's certainly having a similar shape (but could well be a mic or some such; or a sandwitch, for that matter). Well, we all know there's but one punishment for setting alight Grail-shaped beacons. I wonder what it is for drawing Serenity-shaped logos. :)

Really can't make out the gender of the warm body in question, but he/she/it looks to me like a boom mike operator. See that dark near-vertical line in front of the warm body? Looks like he/she/it is holding it. *runs to IMDb to add this to the Goofs page for Shindig*

Well, it just looks like a girl to me. :) The softness of the skin, her hair line (and the way she puts her hair behind her ear); she seems to function like she's a girl. Besides, it makes for a better subject title! :)

A "boom mike" is actually a good explanation. First I thought it was a cable or some such, but I'm liking your version better. :) Notice, btw, that the pole ends at the edge of that pane. And now that I look closer, the yellow glow ISN'T present in this pane! But it should be! The top-pane has the top-part of the glow: the bottom-pane misses the bottom-half of that glow, though. So, maybe they really just forgot to do this pane!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

You know it is such hard work watching Firefly again to confirm this, don't you?

It shows up on my computer screen but not on my tv, no matter how I change the aspect ratio setting for both the tv and my dvd player. All I can see is the least little bit of the white shirt sleeve.

I think CGI is programmed to fill blue screen. When a character or object moves through the blue screen, the CGI does not paint over the object or character. So the CGI could have done the rest of the window, but if enough of a reflection showed up in the film, the CGI would not overpaint it unless specifically programmed to do so.

Good point. But, like I said, I'm now thinking it seems they simply forgot that pane! The bottom-half of the yellow glow of the sunlight appears missing (whereas the top-half of it IS present in the pane above it). Also, from the X-marked spots in the deleted scenes, I take it they specifically choose which areas need to be filled in: it's probably costly. :) So, maybe they figured that it needn't be done for that pane, as it appeared entirely black already?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Good eye Asarian. Now I'll have to go back and watch the episode to look for that frame.

Work, work, work......
