CK's update:

Work: I both really love and really hate my job (contracting position). Yes, I can do both at the same time. There are people there I would work with again in a heartbeat, and people there who are seriously dragging down the overall averages of the entire human population, in terms of intelligence, productivity, social skills, the ability to not be a douchebag, and other things that justify one's continued use of our planet's limited resources. Ironically, the worst offender is the only person I knew here before taking the job, and the one who turned me onto it in the first place. This is my first time working with him, and I would never work with him again, nor recommend him to anyone ever. Seriously, just GTFO already. Take your stock and go home, let the grown-ups work now.

Also thinking about getting some schnazzy new business cards made. Spending way too much time designing them, but they will be teh l33t.

Health: Routine blood tests for my thyroid disease showed for the first time ever that my thyroid antibodies are down! Most labs only report up to 3000 or 3500, with under 20 being normal, and mine have always reported at "greater than 3500". Last week, they were 1342!! Scientific proof that I'm in remission, and that this diet is seriously lowering my autoimmune activity. First time I've ever been excited about a test result, lol.

Girls "in" my industry: Well they're not really in my industry. I actually like most of the actual professional women in my industry. (I'm working with two awesome awesome women right now, one who is 23 years old and one of the best in her field I've ever met, male or female, of any age. And she's so cute that I just want a plushy of her!) But there are people who follow my industry, who are perhaps fans of what I and other people in the industry make. Some of these people like to claim they are "in" the same industry as I am, which is like saying that people who watch Entertainment Tonight are a part of Hollywood. And some of those people are girls who like to post pictures of themselves with their boobies barely contained, and a 'come hither' look, and then bitch and moan about being called attention whores and not being taken seriously. Those I hate. Hate.

LA Traffic: Must. Buy. Automatic. Transmission. O_o

On the topics:

Peeing in the shower: Seriously? Still?

Wikipedia: I consider myself pretty high on the technophile scale (last year alone I wired my home theater system to have 100% digital sound and picture, and I hacked my wireless router so that it hasn't crashed once since; I've built multiple computers from scratch, can code a bit, and am never more than a second away from internet access). I use Wikipedia for casual look up all the time, but for any serious research it's absolute crap. I have first-hand knowledge of documentable factual errors in one article, at the very least. The "errors" were put in by one of the people mentioned in the article, and the "references" linked back to his own private webpage, which repeats the lies he's been spreading around for over a decade. Seriously, this is not a good guy -- it got so bad back in the day, the FBI got involved. The article has been changed a few times by others with first-hand knowledge, and changed back by this head. And that's just the one I know about. Think about that next time you're using either Wikipedia or supposed "references" linked from Wikipedia. It could all be self-aggrandizement by a guy who likes to falsely accuse others of creating kiddyporn. Think about it.

Going outside: Like I said, technophile, and hardcore gamer. I'm really not ever away from the internet (yay iphone!). So I'm not someone who will tell you to get away from the computer. But I'm also horrifically vitamin D deficient, probably from all the years I spent inside reading and playing games, so I make sure I get concentrated sun exposure often. You need to go outside sometime, at least a couple of times a week. Take a book outside and enjoy the sunshine, your body needs it.

So where is everybody anyway? Anyone heard from NVG or MsB? Or should we not even ask?

I think I'm glad you don't have this ability. It makes it sound like you want to use it for evil.

Don't you know with great power comes great responsibility?

I can honestly say that I have never used my pee for evil purposes... that I can recall.

Can every man here honestly make the same claim?!

Oooh, SpaceAnJL has given me an idea. I could combine these two conversations as a very novel way of punishing my errant student!

Or, I could stop talking about bodily functions and try to be a bit more mature. Bets?!

Well if you'd stop bringing it up maybe we'd get past it.

Good news on the health front. That sounds pretty cool.

I don't know about the sun though. It tends to try to kill me whenever it gets the opportunity. Sun burns aren't fun and I'm sure they're just leading to skin cancer. Aren't there any vitamin D pills or something that can make up for the sun? If it weren't for plant life I'd be all for taking the sun out.

Hmm, I don't think it would just be the plants who would object to this plan. I do feel your pain, however, as I too suffer from stupidly flammable skin. I come in two shades, fish belly white or beet red and blistered. Nothing in between.

I have a friend who is pretty much strictly noturnal. He doesn't seem to be suffering too many ill effects (apart from annoying friends when he calls for a chat at 2am).

Laziness From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [hmmm. do you get what you pay for, or is this a suggestion of some sort of liberty?]

"Laziness is the lack of desire to perform work or expend effort. What behavior is considered laziness varies according to personal and societal standards.

"Laziness is considered by some Christians to be one of the seven deadly sins, though it is called sloth on the list.

"Feelings of laziness may be a symptom of clinical depression or listlessness.

"The expression 'intellectual laziness' is used to describe a tendency to not ask questions or investigate thoroughly, applying a kind of mental routine (availability heuristic) or just following the crowd (herd behavior)."

Damn, that waxed almost poetic, didn't it? Too bad it's full of shiat.

What is it about you Brits and your vicars? That's twice in a 24 hour period you yourself have made mention of them. (More commenting on the other instance in the forthcoming LONG post.)

But if it's smootchies you're wanting, how shall I be remiss? (And they are the real thing, too, not vicaraneous in any sense of the word.)

Hey all... well my work thingy got rescheduled for tomorrow so here I am. Yes definitely a happier Ms.B, but not due to tv!!
I am reasonably certain I am actualy glowing, but I can't ask the dogs they are busy being afraid of the yard for some reason... Still have so much to unpack and the people at Walmart are getting used to my daily cartload of purchases....giggle

Hope everyone had a great weekend:)

Em- any thoughts on why the dogs ( after 3 days of happily running and playing in the yard) would suddenly not want to go out there. I think it mght be due to the windy stormy quality but I just don't get it....

FMF HUGS...hmmm no I think it's only natural o be attracted to what you find "attractive" but if all you care about are looks...yes that's shallow and really unfullfilling

CK_ whooo remission:) HUGS

Hey sweets! Hope the glow hasn't faded yet!

Hmm, could it be that there is some scary ninja wildlife in your garden that's spooked them?

I recommend getting a fatorite balnket or something and rubbing it over trees stones etc to try and make it smell like their territory. The more you can get them to pee out there the more it will feel like home. Oh, and playing fun games with tem and feeding them out there are also techniques for making a space feel less scary.

I'm very confused by these amphibians of which you speak. Explain please?

It is a lamentable fact that the majority of masculine suitors do not aquiese to the philosophy you propound regarding the superiority of eloquence and articulation over more carnal and corporeal considerations.

LOL Zeek I used to joke that I should post assignment instructions on my chest as that would be the best way to get the kids ( 90% of my students are boys) to read the directions.

HUGS thanks Em I will try that. There's no wildlife, but I'm thinking maybe a neighbor made a scary noise or something...she seems to be doing a bit better..I put her dog house out there:)

Never really cared about horror movies. I guess suspense is more my thing. So, I'll go with The Others. It's sorta horror you might say. But it's more psychological and just plain spooky. Saw it with my mom in theaters when she came to visit me when I was doing a summer + 1 semester internship in St. Louis during college. We were both in just the right mood for it and the atmosphere of the theater was great too. There were these people who kept yelling out but just enough to add some comic relief. Like "oh get the heeeeeell out of there honey" and stuff when crazy shit was going down.

Actually the thread was created and named Imponderables after things either sex wondered or could never have a full perception of about the other sex. Sure is nice to get answers but there is never any full way of completely understandeing the opposite sex. We can ponder all we want but ultimately those questions are imponderable for anyone.

*Hugs* MsB. Congrats on the new place, btw!
