And that was great. Yes, not the best special effects, but I would watch more if they filmed more. Watched 14 episodes in 2 day.

I remember seeing a movie few years ago, and it was great, too. Now I'm thinking of renting it to see it again.

It's so sad that the series you like get canceled and the ones that you don't like at all go forever. Like for 5 years +

Unfortunately, no one even wrote books... You know, some people are just too old to read comics.

Hope you guys are doing OK here.

And DAMN YOU FOX!

Firefly won a televison award for Special Effects. I think it was an Emmy. Now that other shows have spent the past 6 years copying the Effects from Firefly, maybe they do look dated.
But they were groundbreaking at the time of broadcast.

Welcome!

You're never too old to read comic books, btw, and yes, you should definitely watch "Serenity" again now that you've watched "Firefly".
And most of all: SPREAD THE WORD!

Howdu, its good show to watch over and over. Target has the box sets or rain checks for $18.00. Check your local pawn shop for a Serenity movie. As cheap as $3.00. Or go to HULU website for free episodes.

Just watched it for the first time myself a couple of weeks ago, did see Serenity for the first time some weeks before that and decided to order the Firefly box (never aired here i Sweden, hadn't heard of it before reading a bit on IMDB about the movie). Wathed it all on one day and have rewatched it almost twice since that togheter with a rewatch of the movie. Great series!

I didn't rely have a problem with the special effects though, I've seen a lot worse and the series is after all not the newest one out there.

Yes, I watched it on HULU.

And after watching few minutes of doctor who and battlestar galactica I have to say that special effects in Firefly were actually great!

P.S. But anyone seen Dresden files on Scifi? Those special effects are unbeatable for series.

Konstantindk welcome, glad to have you on the boat.
I was about to say that the FX on Firefly were GREAT, and if you’ve seen the BDM only once you’ll find the FX are fantastic on Serenity too. I love seeing the green glow of the thrusters in a star filled black sky, or the heat signature of the mule as it hovers above the ground in Serenity. Something else, I enjoy hearing the cargo bay ramp lowering or raising, it tells me that pretty soon something going to happen.

To old the read FF comics, how old is that? I’m 52 and still enjoy them.

Lol, that's cute. Awesome special effect!
At your age, the sparklers on the plastic rocket ships on strings in the original Flash Gordon must seem amazingly cutting edge, too!

I saw the end of a marathon in August 2007 on SciFi Channel. Caught the end of Ariel, and I think it went for 4 or 5 more eps. Then had to wait to find a store with DVDs of FF before getting the rest.

Welcome aboard!

Glad you found the 'Verse and now you know what all the fuss is about. The reason why I think another movie will be made (and quite possibly a series; either on the 'net or on-demand) is that people keep discovering this gem of of TV series.
So go spread the word, sooner or later Fox will cave and give us back - Serenity.

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!

Hey Adagsu!

I have all three Flash Gordon serials on DVD.

In 1936 sparklers were the state of the art, considering there was very little special effects to compare it with. Just think of the guy who had to light those suckers.

Falling in love with Princess Aura is what made me a Science Fiction fan.

Gotta love Prisilla Lawson as Princess Aura;
traveler

Oh and by the way welcome to our new Browncoats.

The sparklers were nothing in comparison to the short trousers, though.
And Prisilla Lawson... very goth, in an old-fashioned way. Also, no short trousers.

You had to mention the short trousers.

What if Mal had his suspenders holding up short pants?: )

After all this discussion of Flash Goedon I have the urge to grab my DVD's and start watching it again. But that is okay. because it leads me into seeing Firefly. It is wonderful to see the early roots of Science Fiction. I better add Metropolis to my viewing list. Now that puts Flash Gordon's effects to shame, although I still love Flash.

Yup, truly revolutionary effects for its time, and I mean that with all respect.
