That's truly wonderful. Browncoats in spirit, if not in fact.

"... you find somebody to carry you."

Thrilled me to know that Washington has some quality people living here. This act of generosity won't be forgotten quickly. I'd be proud to call them Browncoats.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this picture here was "browncoats"

This is truly, by far, the most inspiring and beautiful story of generosity I have ever come across in my life. Now that's a BDH.

Someone should give that girl and her teammates some sort of reward. A trip to the World Series or All-Star Game in New York. Something...to say "good on you". YOU GO GIRL!

"get soemone to carry you."

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!

Much as I appreciate the sportsmanship displayed here (see my post above), there's a sad angle to the story too. If you read the sidebar, you'll see that the umpires blew the call. The whole thing was unnecessary; the officials could and should have allowed a substitute player to run the bases.

So while the gals from Washington are certainly to be lauded, that umpire should be sanctioned for the unnecessary pain suffered by the Oregon player as she was carried around the bases when she should have been getting medical attention.

Well, damn - thanks for the post, CLJ. I'm gonna spread the story around. Here at work all I could really check out was the Times article, and that was enough to loosen the tap on the waterworks ever-so-slightly ('course, I'm one of the squad members who cried at "Ol' Yeller", so there ya go...).

It was like that when we got here!
