If you could build and live in (like, as a HOME) a real sized mock up of either of these ships, which would it be?

Serenity. It's pretty, well designed, and homey.
Plus it has stairs! Can you imagine the entrance you could make?

MF has bunks beds, right? I guess you could configure for the passenger model instead of the cargo model.

Jupiter 2 would look awesome surrounded by other homes.

As a home, Serenity.

That said, if I was getting an actual ship, I'd want the Falcon, just 'cause it's more compact, has weapons, and has a more stable thrust-footprint (and, based on comparing RotJ and "The Message," just might manage a higher linear velocity too). Also, the Falcon is FTL-capable, while Serenity isn't.

I tend to be a pretty. . . aggressive space-pilot.

Jupiter 2, but only if Angela Cartwright or Heather Graham were my crew mates.

Other than that, Serenity of course.

It would have to be Serenity, the Millenium Falcon is a P.O.S., and the Jupiter 2 is lost in spasce.

It would totally have to be Serenity. Much roomier, and it has a lot more comforts than the Millennium Falcon. Besides, it's prettier. :-)

Didn't Joss Whedon in the extra credits of disk four say he wanted the Millenium Falcon when he designed Serenity but he wanted it to be capable of supporting a real life. You know I would really want to live in an Eagle which was I believe the inspiration for the Falcon.

More to the point, the Jupiter 2 while a cool ship would look good FLYING OUT OF CARDINAL STADIUM. :-)

Serenity's easily my choice, the Jupiter 2 is not only lost but hopelessly ill equipped and shares the roominess issue with the Falcon. Remember, the Falcon is only around 26 meters long and Serenity is 63, now there's some room to live and work.

Serenity for certain. She has heart. She is a home...and she lights up the sky. Although I have to agree with whoever added Moya to the list. To live in something that is also alive would be awesome.

No brainer, Serenity. It's home and comes complete with the best sleeping accomodations, galley and table in the 'verse (not to mention Mal, Wash, Jayne and Simon and then there's Zoe, Inara and Keylee to have some very interesting girl talk with).

It would look quite natural, come to think of it, as if the Cardinals' stadium were built for that purpose. Maybe it was.

Sorry , Jupiter 2...

As long as there's been a Falcon , I've wanted to build it , and live aboard...Even did a lot of study , and design work...

Having said that , Serenity is far more practical for shelter...

The Falcon presents some design challenges , due to the limited 'thickness' available , but I've solved most of the 'issues'...

But , Serenity would be a better 'fit' for practical living...If someone wanted the cozy feel of being aboard the Falcon , then they could just hole up in Inara's shuttle...

The big wins for Serenity are the galley , plus the other 'living' areas...It's just much 'homier'...Like someone raided the garage sale at Mike and Carol Brady's house...

I call that a 'win'...

But , if you'd asked which would be more fun to fly , advantage goes to Halcon Millenario...

No replacement for jumping to hyperspace...

The Eagle from Space 1999 has shown up in two series. One being Space 1999 and the other being Red Dwarf, but with that said I would like to throw Star Bug into the ring. It every feature anyone has mentioned about any of the other ships discussed here and can time travel to boot. Or how about Red Dwarf? Is that too big for this discussion?

It still works; the Kessel Run is a slalom around an asteroid field and a black hole cluster (the Maw).

Han went through the asteroid field and cut closer to the Maw than anyone had ever done before (closer, in fact, than anyone thought was possible).

Serenity has one distinct advantage: Toilets.

I dun recall seein' a single head on any of the other ships mentioned. Ever.

Could make those long trips a mite uncomfortable, especially with a Wookiee aboard.

I don't actually remembering ever seeing a bathroom on Space Bug, but I do remember a discussion between Kristy and either Kryten or Dave about having to take showers and not being able to take a bath. I also remember seeing washing machines on Star Bug so I think it would be reasonable to believe there were bathrooms on Space Bug.

Sorry, but I gots to have my trees and animals. And it's proven to be capable of being run by one person and some 'droids.

If the prefix "pro-" means "for" or "in favor of", and "con" is its opposite, and if "progress" means "pushing forward" or "improving"... then what the hell does "Congress" mean?

Isn't that "Eagle" awfully close to the "Moon Bus" from 2001? I'm not sure, but I remember my brother having a model of the Moon Bus, and it sure looks pretty familiar.

I don't think the eagle and moon bus look anything alike except maybe that they were both designed in the 1970s so they may follow a similar motif. As far as the Valley Forge is concerned it was great but I think the goal of this thread was to compare smaller space craft as far as living in them and traveling.

Of all the ships mentioned, I think Serenity would be my preference. More interior space, and a built in infirmary. The passenger spaces are spacious, you have the upper dome/galley, and the space outboard of the infirmary. The drop down crew cabins are pretty cool. Also, lets not forget the space forward of the bridge.

Besides, where are the bathrooms on the J2 and the Falcon, As well as Discovery, and the rest of the ships mentioned? Heck, while we are at it, where are the bathrooms on any Star Fleet or Star Wars ship?

"Wash, where is my damn spaceship?"

I think there was a running joke in the 1980s when the blue prints to the Enterprise NCC1701 were released and there was only one bathroom on the entire ship. I may be remembering things wrongly though because that was a long time ago.

No, seriously though can we design our houses like the Enterprise(TNG) I'd like that. My living room would be the Bridge. I know some of my Trekkie friends would want to live with me.
