That's impressive.
Not bad for a guy from a cancelled show and a mildly successful movie to out-rank Luke Skywalker.
Considering some of the big names on the list, I'm suprised (but glad) that he made it on the list at all!

Amen!

All the exposure couldn't hurt our sequel chances!

It's always nice to see Mal up there with heroes from other series. Just about the time we all get to thinking that no one knows about our BDH's and Firefly/Serenity... we see that indeed folks know exactly who they are and want more of the adventures too.

ETA: I really had a lot of fun going thru these characters too, remembering the movies and discovering new ones.

SERENITY did pretty well over here in terms of awareness. It won the best film of Film 2005 (voted by the viewers) by a long chalk and then that resulted in a kind of sustained awareness as that acclaim was branded on all the posters and media that followed. For a while I'd frequently be surprised as to how many people actually had heard of the Film. Unfortunately it didn't result in people going to see it though :( Which is a pity. I know a number of people who've said:

"Oh yeah, 'Serenity' I always meant to go see that..."

It's extremely impressive that Mal has featured so highly in the ranks of some frankly great characters.

Sererity did much better box office wise in the United Kingdom as well, didn't it?
Much more money made and excitement generated.

It's a list of really cool characters. But Mal is truly deserving of the addition to the list and Nathan does truly "own" ( in the sense of performance ) Mal. Mal remains my favorite character in a film.

Yeah - I think it did relatively well over here. Just it makes little impact 'Universally' so to speak, when a film does well in the UK. It needs to be all of Europe really.

And yes Mal is one of my favourites around. Used to be Butch Cassidy (Which if I recall correctly didn't feature in the list. Thats strange now I think of it, Butch deserves to be there surely?) And It's fair to say Nathan has made MAL his! No question. No-one could play that character but Nathan!

Oh, I forgot about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid! They were both favorite characters for me...it is a shame Butch was not included.

I can't beleive that Animal Mother, Steve the Pirate,Gerhardt ( from 28 days) Rizzo, Rooster Cogburn, Zorro, and Inigo Montoya are not on this list!!!! Mal at 54 is pretty cool though considering he's a relatively new character compared to some of the others.
