Well, I don't know the answer to that either :P I just don't see the point. woot, people competing in some sport or another. It's the same reason I don't watch the world series. or the national championship.

Maybe it's because of all those years listening to my dad scream bloody murder at the TV and wondering why he was so angry when the players can't hear him through the screen....

I think you fail to understand that to some people sport is very important for more than it being just a game. To some people including myself they hang their hopes and dreams onto a sports team or person and when things aren't going the way *we* planned we shout and scream and get annoyed. We do this because some of us aren't luck enough to be good at sport, so we pick our favorite to be our mascot, our knights in white armour who play on our behave whether they know it or not.

And if all goes to plan they we can say that *our* team or man or whatever did us proud and they renewed our faith in the world around us that dreams can come true and the odds can be beaten. The same applies to soap operas when people cry at a wedding or death on TV because mostly the characters represent the life we want but can never have so we hang our hopes and dreams on them also.

Things like that bring people together and give the something to discuss and follow and believe it without being a slave to any rules or major punishment.

I'm tired of hearing people fucking whine about this year after goddamned year. Sports are as old as mankind itself, they are not going away, and your understanding and/or appreciation are completely fucking irrelevant. You can either accept those rather simple facts and move the fuck on, or you can continue looking like a stereotypical twat complaining about it every goddamned year.

((clearly shouldn't be allowed online today))...

Its not just men, its woman and children and OAPs.

To say a sport is just a sport is like saying a film is only a film, a song is but a song, there is always more to it then meets the eye or than what its usually used for.

How can you be so closed minded and just brush it off as "that's men for you" am really disappointed in you.

EMS! Good to see you, how are you settling into your new place?

So my Superbowl was not quite as expected, had a lousy night at the hotel on Sat due to too soft a bed and feather pillows so shattered, dozed my way through it, saw most of the important bits but taping the highlights tonight to catch up on the bits I missed.

Was really impressed with the Boss even if was only doing it for the promotion.

Anyway, got to crack on, had a really productive early afternoon but now massively behind now.

Don't be away so long Ems you here, although I'll call next time, bad Gee

Gee - you really found a hotel that has soft mattresses? Hrm... The ones I normally end up in tend to be made entirely of plywood. Not that I am complaining, great for the back. I actually need a new bed.

*gives Kel a "I hope that wasn't aimed at me if you know what's good for your health" look*

*checks that the cans-o-Dew are properly polished*

For the record, I don't hate Superbowl, nor the World Series, nor any other sports extravaganza. I simply don't understand enough of it, nor have enough interest in it to care (other than to admit it mystifies me and think it's the perfect time to go out and do something else).

'Course, the same could be said for me and a majority of the reality shows in tv. But those bore me....which makes me probably the only person in the room who doesn't particpate (and looks lost) when the conversation turns to "American Idol" or whatever the-heck-is-on right now. *shrug*

Emma: Are you teaching the same stuff, or have they assigned you new courses to teach?

*looks for an energy pick-me-up to get me up and going instead of dragging around for the rest of the day*

Sadly yes my main man Roger Federer lost the OZ open final still there are another 3 grand slams left in the year and I'd be happy if he wins just one of them.

On a different note has anyone seen a film called all the real girls? I watched it last night and liked it but the ending was a bit naff, so good dialogue and acting in it though.

In other news I wrote down that dream I had a few nights ago and well lets just say Layla will never sound the same again.

Aaaaw! Thanks georgeous one! You love me even though I didn't write back in thanks for the spectacular photos you sent far too long ago (I swear there's a time thief about!)

Yep, I'm trying to make an effort to be less antisocial which involves trying to revive old friendships (we applied the cortical electrodes....) and even ...don't wince... joining Match.com! That's right, I wants me some smoochies and I don't mind sacrificing my dignity to get them!

Neko! How are you lassie? Have the bastards ground you down yet or are you still one of the cursed ones (i.e. a teacher?!) I've just celebrated my second anniverary! Still here (just), still teaching Animal Care although yes, they do swap the modules around so this year I'm prepping all new stuff! Enjoying a snow day so that I can tackle the pile of marking before it topples and crushes me to death under a stinking heap of inadequate drivvle!

Did I know that you were writing a book? If so I confess to having forgotten. What's it about? I wish you every success! My sister has written a book but is having real trouble getting published :-(
