Hey, fellow Browncoats! Here's the link to an interview that Joss did about Angel's 100th episode. It even has a TEENSY Firefly mention.

Oh, and if you guys aren't reading "Watch with Kristin" every week, you should be!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Joss:

I felt we needed to pay service to the gravity of what we are dealing with. They are in a nest of vipers and working for terrible people. I had already pitched the very end, but we were trying to figure out how we get to the end without the same old, "Oh, here comes an apocalypse, we better stop it!" We've been there, done that. It's like a crutch. I'm like an addict. I can't go a season on a show without an apocalypse. There probably would have been one on Firefly.

Wow. An apocalypse in Firefly? Wonder what it would have been.

Damn your inevitable betrayal Fox!!!

Apocalypse on Firefly.. hmm.. maybe:

- Reavers step up their attacks on frontier worlds, being ballsy enough to take over an Alliance ship

- there's an uprising and Serenity is in the thick of it

Funny you should say that. My husband and I were just talking about that very thing last night.

It need not be anything so grandiose (like in some other shows-that-will-remain-nameless where they have to blow up the earth or something to compensate for the lack of human drama...)

Remember, this show is about Serenity and the 9 people on board. The 'world' for Firefly really is this ship, so something like losing the ship would be pretty much apocalyptic for the show.

Very good point indeed. It could be losing Serenity, or the threat of losing her, but somehow, that just does not seem Joss enough, does it?

I am thinking it would have been something more grand, like a Reaver attack on a world Serenity has to put down on to effect some repairs. That sounds more like Joss.

yeah losing Serenity sounds like an Apocalypse Joss would do ! But when i think of Apocalypse and Joss i also always think of character death.
I dont like that one bit .. but he likes to kill of his characters *sigh*

Maybe i should be quiet and not giving him ideas ... in case he is lurking again ... waaaaa...

I get excited when I think about this. I can see River grabbing a Reaver and biting a big bloody chunk out of its neck.

Well, if a (one) earth shattering apocalypse is bad, imagine an apocalyse that wipes out all seventy-something worlds in the FF universe, like a weapon that causes the sun to go supernova, but wait, ST:NG already did that in one of thier movies. How about the alliance developing a weapon that would blow up Mal's home planet, oh wait, SW:ANH already did that too.

No, I don't think a "Apocalypse - Firefly style" would be quite so over-dramatic. I'm thinking it's got to be something about the possibility of Mal losing the ship and all the crew that would make the apocalypse much more personal for both Mal and us fans. I also think that it would be more pesonal if it was the Alliance that was attempting this feat, because Mal seems to have an understanding of the Reavers, and would be more hurt by non-insane people attempting to ruin his live/livelihood. But that's just my opinion. And if Joss does anything apocalypic in the 'fly verse, you know it's gonna be good.

Somebody wrote a really good Fanfic a while back that went something like that,

Serenity put down on a planet, taking on cargo, doing trade. Word came down the reavers were inbound, Mal loaded as many people as would fit on Serenity and then discovered Inara had gone off to bring some kids in. With no time to wait for her, he put Zoe in command and sent her and the ship out of danger while he stayed behind to go after Inara. With twenty or so locals, Mal attempts to evade and beat off the arriving reavers.

Great story

MISGUIDED BY VOICES

My thought is plague. We've seen that the border worlds barely have the medicine to get by. Imagine Mal and Co running around doing the best they could to help, then finding they have to sit there because if they go down to the planet they get it and die.

And, evil pixie in me speaking, what is Inara's "suicide kit"?

I just thought I would take a moment to express my EXTREME dislike for Fox for keeping this or any other Firefly plot line for happening any time soon. Curse them.
Sorry, I had to say that somewhere.
