We sniff the air, we don't kiss the dirt.

Andy Hallett, who starred as Lorne ("the Host") on the TV series Angel, died of heart failure last night at age 33, according to his longtime agent and friend Pat Brady. The actor passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after a five-year battle with heart disease, with his father Dave Hallett by his side.

That sucks to the nth degree.

I'll do the dance of grief in his honour.
I can't believe how young he was! Wouldve been what, 24 when he first started appearing? Maybe it was just the green hiding it, but that surprised me.

He will be missed.

I'm babbling like a moonbrain.

I have not watched any Angel episodes yet (I'll get to the rest of the Whedonverse eventually), but it's still sad to me that someone died so young. Heart disease at that age? I know it's possible, but it certainly is not common.

Wow. That is so awful. Lorne was such a vital part of the series (the opening shot in season 2 of him at the mike looking all menacing and then starts singing "I Will Survive" is one of my favorite Whedonverse moments) and even if he did semi-retire after the show wrapped due to his heart condition, he certainly made an impact.

Here's the moment I was talking about. And he will survive.

I just heard about the news. Andy Hallett brought a lot of laughter into my life playing his character Loren in Angel. He was only 33 years of age, but it appears he had a heart condition that finally done him in. He died so young, and this alone is tragic.

You will be missed Andy.

How very, very sad. So young and so incredibly talented. His part in Angel is why it so often was fun. I remember looking at his details after Angel finished and I was surprised to see he wasn't doing much TV work or acting. It's desperately sad knowing he was in and out of hospital through these last five years, it must have been so difficult for him and his family.

I guess we can only take comfort from the fact that he is now at rest, but I must say I'm very sad.

Farewell Andy.

Incredibly sad news. Andy was brilliant as 'Lorne' and always came across as a very caring and positive person. I also know he was enormously popular at conventions. My heart goes out to his family and friends and I am so grateful that he did "Angel" because now I have so many moments he made magic on DVD.

Quote:

A demon named Lorne. According to this Australian article, our favourite green demon is "the single most intriguing gay character on television right now".
www.whedonesque.com/comments/3306

Back in 2001, Hallett told our own Jen Godwin that despite constant flirtation with David Boreanaz’ character Angel, and the occasional sly Elton John reference, "We don’t really know if he’s gay. I don’t really know. It’s funny, because sometimes he’s right in Angel’s face, and that’s when I feel it the most. And viewers would probably think, hmm, what’s going on here? This guy’s pretty curvy."
www.whedon.info/Andy-Hallet-Dies-of-Heart-Failure.html

Of course on Angel, his mother was a man, so that'd make anyone gay.

Quote:

Does anyone know if he is gay?

The only thing that bothers me more than the people asking if Andy is gay, are the people who freak-out and self-righteously talk down to anyone asking if he is gay. Get off your high horse. Posing the question doesn’t make someone a homophobe. It doesn’t make them anything. I’ve wondered if Andy is gay and I’ve wondered if Lorne is gay (neither are). And I’ve slept with both sexes, so don’t come preachin’ to me.

LMAO....So many people who loved the show thought Lorne was gay. I thought he was then i realized that Andy acted/sounded a lot like Lorne in real life so then I thought that maybe it was just Andy who was gay. In the long run, it doesn’t matter. Gay people are cool, throw the best parties, and have access to the best drugs...

Was this HIV related, or drug related? Speed kills hearts. So do dentists.

Quote:

I didn't realise for ages that they guy who played Doyle, Glenn Quinn (who was from Dublin), died of a heroin overdose. He left the show because of his drug problems and died a year or two after.
www.queerid.com/topic.aspx?topicid=17049

HIV drugs kill patients. Only mega-stars get the secret cure, under penalty of death if they talk. Ask Magic Johnson. Can't ask my wife's mom, she's dead now.

Hospitals kill patients to harvest $500,000 in free goodies, no consent required.

"Are you in pain? Here's a shot to make you feel better." The fatal overdose of morphine is then administered...

He was still alive at home, then died in hospital. Or was he in the hospice wing, where patients are strapped to beds begging for food and water until they die?

Doctors murder 2-million Americans every year, half by medmal, the leading cause of death, besides abortion.

I've only watched the first season of Angel on Hulu, but I read all the transcripts off of twiztv.com a couple years ago.
I loved Lorne's dialogue, but now I'm going to be so sad when I finally get to see and hear him "in action".

RIP, Andy.
