“The scene- A lonely Firefly transport ship is floating in the deep, dark recesses of space. It’s angle of approach right at you. At the last moment the craft veers off to the left and we first see the port side of Serenity, then the back. We notice something on the backside of the transport. Looks like a bumper sticker. We zoom in and sure enough it is a bumper sticker. An alien head with a red, no-smoking like line slashed through it. The message distinctly Joss, “NO ALIENS” in my verse.”

Fellow browncoats, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to create this image and post it up in the BSR. Just never made the effort (my lazy gorram a$$). The thing is you gotta love our bumbling band of space buccaneers!

I’ve been scouring the net the past few days searching for info on the upcoming new ABC television series “V” . We all loved our Serenity crew in FIREFLY but as we all know there “weren’t no” aliens in the Joss verse and we all were happy with that. That point made the new “V” show did get me to thinking. I think most of our “verse” crew have done si/fi shows where there were aliens. Here’s a look at what I’m talking about.

Adam Baldwin- Independence Day ( Alien beings cruise around the globe destroying cities and army bases trying to wipe out all of human kind).

Nathan Fillion- Slither ( Alien worms feel that humans are better controlled if they are a zombie-fied obedient race).

Jewel Staite- Stargate Atlantis ( never watched the show but I’m sure there were aliens).

Morena Baccarin & Alan Tudyk- The upcoming “V” tv series on ABC ( One plays a “Visitor” alien and one plays a human. I won’t say which one is which). Special f/x will be handled by Zoic.

I’m not sure if Summer Glau, Ron Glass, Gina Torres or Sean Maher have ever been in any other si/fi shows which had aliens in them. I do know that Adam and Morena once played an ex-married couple in a tv program called “Sands of Oblivion” and there was a Mummy. Can you imagine Jayne and Inara together…..holy smokes?

Although Summer has played in TSCC and Gina was in The Matrix and both qualify as si/fi, the enemy in these were human built machines or machine built machines.

I would love to see Christina Hendricks ( Saffron) Mark Sheppard (Badger) Michael Fairman (Niska) and/or Richard Brooks (Jubal Early, he ain’t dead you know, he’s still floating around out there in space) make guest appearances on “V” or Castle or Chuck…..that would be so ruttin cool.

Anyway, if anyone knows of other si/fi shows the crew of Serenity has been on where there were aliens….post it up if you want. Or if any browncoat just feels like chiming in, I’d enjoy hearing from ya.

The crew of Serenity and Joss Whedon are becoming more popular every moment and they’re ready to make someone tons of cashy money with more Firefly. Are there any tv exects listening? The si/fi genre ain’t going away any time soon. Give Joss another shot at FIREFLY.

Z, out

Both Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin appeared in Outer Limits episodes in the late 90's. Nathan's was called "Starcrossed". It was about an alien invasion of Earth, and the un-easy truce which followed. He played the Bogartesque role of Michael Ryan, owner of a "neutral" coffee shop. The aliens were called the Hing.

Adam was in the episode "Phobos Rising". No aliens in this episode, but it did feature enemy bases on Mars, and the possible annihilation of the Earth due to war.

On the sci-fi video game side of things, Fillion, Tudyk, and either Torres or Baldwin did voice acting for Halo 3, which had not one but two enemy alien races.

Joss also did some screenwriting work on the Aliens franchise here and there.

Ron appeared (as an alien) in an episode of Star Trek Voyager ("Nightingale").

And of course, Nathan, Adam, Morena, and Gina have all "appeared" on Justice League Unlimited, where aliens are de rigeur (though their characters were all human or metahuman).

Adam played Superman in Superman: Doomsday.

Morena and Adam were both on Stargate SG-1 (though their characters never met). Depending on how you count the Ori (they were renegade Ancients, and the Ancients were human-precursers), Morena was an alien-human hybrid. Adam was a human SG team leader.

Jewel has actually played two roles on Atlantis: one as a Wraith and the other as a human.

Adam also appeared on X-Files.

Jewel was on Space Cases. Dunno if she was human, alien, or other (had funky-coloured hair, though).

Summer was in The 4400. I believe there were aliens implicit in that, though they never appeared onscreen (and may in fact have been humans from the future).

Thanks for your posts JongsStraw, Bytemite and Cybersnark

Yepper I remember seeing that a bunch of Serenity alum were doing the voiceovers for the Halo3 game. The Halo games are a favorite of my younger son. I likely would enjoy them too if I had the time. Maybe someday.

Cyber, thanks for the info. Ron as an alien? I’d love to see that!!

Also Alan Tudyk did the voice of the likable, but doomed for execution robot in the movie “AI” with Will Smith. I know I bring Mr. Smith’s name up a lot as far as sequels go for Serenity, but it’s just I feel that here is a big name actor which I feel has a incredible acting range. He seems to enjoy doing si/fi and is good at it. I don’t think that a name like his on the marquee for a BDM sequel could hurt a bit.

So Adam Baldwin made an X-Files appearance? Sure would like to know which episode? Jewel also made an X-File appearance. She is maybe 14 or 15, could be a little older, I’m not sure. Anyway she gets kissed by Mullder in the episode and I remember watching it because I saw Jewel’s name appear in the credits.

The wife and I were big X-File fans at the beginning of the show, but as things went on we knida drifted away. Same thing is happening with LOST. Real life waits for no one and you gotta do what you gotta do.

Just bought the dvd “Dodgeball” and Steve the pirate is hilarious. I can’t help but LMAO.

Now I am learning about scary.

Mark Sheppard was also in an episode of The X-Files, although there were (amazingly enough) no aliens in that one. I can't remember what the ep is called, but he played a guy who could start fires spontaneously. He was pretty creepy.

And Nathan voices Steve Trevor in the new "Wonder Woman" direct to DVD cartoon and battles zombies and a metahuman bad guy. He has some wonderful lines with Kerry Russell, his Waitress co star, who voices Wonder Woman.

I already have Dodgeball dvd at home, but I did see it the other day at Target for $5...$5 bucks! How could anyone not buy it? It's a damn funny movie, and Alan is terrific in it.

Howdy SaveWash and NCBrowncoat

Mark Sheppard on an X-files too!! Who knew so many Firefly cast members would guest appear on a show I enjoyed watching long before FF. Had Joss’ verse been allowed more than only a partial season maybe Jillian Anderson or David Duchovny could have made guest appearances on FF. Heck Jillian could have even been Saffron’s sister or something ( Oh the possibilities)!

Nathan doing the voiceover as Steve Trevor on WW….NC! We always knew that they were BDHeroes….why not BDSuper Heroes

JongsStraw, I’m very glad that I got it right and yes I would like to know the origin of it’s meaning. BTW now that you said it, the wife and I were in “Target” the other day to pick up a few things. She pointed the “Dodgeball” dvd for 5 bucks out to me….and you are totally right. I could not pass it up

According to IMDB, Adam Baldwin was in 5 eps of the X-Files. He played the supersolder Knowle Rohrer, which was kind of alien.

The Truth: Parts 1 & 2 (2002)
Nothing Important Happened Today II (2001)
Existence (2001)
Three Words (2001)
Per Manum (2001)

And Jewel was in the season 3 ep Oubliette.
