I recently played Serenity & some eps from Firefly on my new 720 LCD TV, and I'm feelin' like I'm discovering it all over again. The picture on the eps in particular is absolutely stunning. That sadness that soon I will have seen all the episodes there are to see in this new way is creeping in on me.
This IS the best genre show ever produced.
Not that I'm tellin' y'all what you probably don't already know...

I wish you endless hours of enjoyment with your new TV. You're one of the few here that posts about old sci-fi stuff, which is really what I enjoy the most. So I expect new posts from you with amazing revelations on the classics and "B"s, courtesy of your new tv.

Hey Wash, is it just me, or does the series look even prettier than the movie in higher definition (I'd say HD, but my TV isn't 1080)?

If it's connected to your dvd played via component cable, then it's probably showing at 480 progressive(480P) which is much better than 480 interlaced(standard CRT televisions).
So, it should be looking better.

It's connected via HDMI cable, with an upconvert DVD player to a 720P screen.
Thing of beauty.

Well, no wonder. That's beauty alright.

Huh?!...oh - sorry, wasn't trying to evade the issue, just tryin' to clean something off the front page...

Well...I can say that I'm one of those who thinks the series in general is just a little prettier than the movie (long may they both wave!) regardless of the medium. But I really can't answer your question, as I'm still viewing both on a 6-yr.-old Phillips flat screen (NOT flat panel) from non-BlueRay discs. Occasionally I watch them on my laptop (last MacBook model before they went Intel), and they look DAMN GOOD on that...but I can't intelligently compare and contrast that with what you're talking about.

I'd settle for new episodes on crappy old broadcast TV.
