TOAST! I had the best toast ever yesterday at this italian cafe in Preston (for anyone in the North West UK .. Deli Med, opposite Pizza Express on Winkley Square. I highly Recommend!!) It was ciabatta bread and just perfection :)

All this toast talk reminds me of breakfast .. I want cereal now. Why do I always get these urges at 9 PM?

Pretty good, I just made a necklace/bracelet/earring set for myself, and it's all pretty and shiny (pics will probably come later... maybe...), and I also managed to finish that damned charm bracelet (kept twisting the bracelet and putting the charms on backwards, or some of them had that little extra jump ring and I attached my jump ring to that, so they were twisting all the time...), and it does look mighty shiny, so I'm proud of myself ^.^

not exactly a huge fan, I've got a lakers kobe jersey that my dad got me when he went to the states, it was pretty early in his career (I think second year but maybe first) and the guys in the store were pretty impressed when my old man walked in with his instructions but it wasn't televised that well over here for ages and their website sucked (don't know if it's any good now) so more of a basketball fan. After all, I supported the Celtics in last years' final cause I wanted to see KG, Jesus Shuttleworth and Paul Pierce get their rings as they're like 3 of my favourite players. Not like with the Bengals where I'm a proper fan and can't ever support the Steelers or admit that they are a well run franchise (they got lucky for all their championships {this may not be the case but I'm not saying it}).

I always miss playing this time of year, there was not a lot of organised ball round me growing up, which is a shame as I loved playing and I'd be found on the school courts at all times as a kid, I like to think I might have got a free education had I been born in the states but who knows... still I'm sure with coaching I could have got a consistent jump shot to go with the least impressive dunks in history!

gah, now reliving my youth, I was joking with my mate around Christmas that I was going to get fit and show him how to play and determined to dunk again (and a bit more impressively!) but sadly been laid up for months, man I'm rubbish at being laid up, hopefully gastroenterologist will have something useful to say July but it all take so long, hell at the moment I'd settle for not feeling so bad that I come home and sleep and keep having to take days off work to catch up on OU maths work.

Ok, so this post got away from me a little, move along, nothing to see hear...

Ahhh... Went to me first New England Browncoats Shindig yesterday (Thanks for the ride, Rallem) A good time was had by all. We made up trivia questions for the Boston CSTS screening, Played cards, ate tons of great food, plenty of adult beverages and then just before I left, watched Dr. Horrible.

Well over half the attendees sang along (Sing along blog...) Steamer in particular stood out singing Nathans parts loudly (and on key)

I had a great time and to quote Ah'nold "I'll be back."

I'm at the stage of decided what to do in my future .. and my mum won't let me do what I truly want to do.
I'm going to do Camp America at some point, but I've already decided not next year for 2 good reasons:
1) I'm not missing a choir tour
2) I'm not missing my best friend's 18th!!
So, we've agreed I'll do it after my first year of uni.
I also want to au pair for a year. Mum turned it down straight away. She won't even let me explain what it is!
Apparently she's heard dodgy stories from it, but the people I want to go with are a trusted company thats been doing it for 20 years!
Then she said I wouldn't be able to do it in my gap year anyway, as you have to be away for 12 months && I'd miss my brother's wedding.
All this proves is that she doesn't listen.
I don't want to do it in a gap year: I want to au pair the uni way where you also spend a year going to uni classes in America. It would be AT LEAST a year after my brother's wedding!!
[/rant]

(*Takes deep breathes*)
I'm 17. I'm driving. I'm choosing university courses. Hell, I'll be applying to uni/gap year plans in under 6 months. Why can't she just trust my research and let me make my own decisions?

I need to de-stress.
(*grabs Ice Tea*)
I'm gonna go compose ..

how about cause it's not always easy letting go and realising your kid is an adult.

It takes time on both sides to figure it out, I butted head with my parents like crazy round your age and I'm not sure mum ever figured it out until I moved out for good having come home from Uni.

She's has 17 odd years of knowing what is best for you and she's got a good few years of still thinking like that even if it isn't true.

When you're feeling calm, sit down with her, lay out your research and hopefully all will be good.

At least my two pennies worth, hope you don't mind me butting in.

I've been at maths most of teh day, went for a swim this morning and have finally discovered something I can do that doesn't upset my stomach so can start getting myself fit again, I can't tell you how much better I have felt today just for being able to do some exercise :) Even managed 1/4 of a mile somehow!

HUGS WuS if it helps at all Magdalena ( who posts in the picture threads mostly) is a professional nanny and has been for decades. She might be able to steer you to the best agency as well as speak with and reassure your mom. Right now she lives in Devonshire and is nanny-ing for a wonderful family. Maybe that will make your mom feel better about what you want to do. Moms worry because they know all about the bad things that can happen and as a mom it's your job to worry and protect. Having more info might help. Also maybe there's an orientation seminar at Uni that you could talk to your mom about attending. Getting more info can really help make moms feel better about sending you off on your own:)
