We've talked about continuing the series through movies, animated series, and tv mini-movies.

But what about a series of video games?

I was playing Gears of War on my snazzy new 360 (yay!....though I can't beat RAAM) and I kept thinking how being hopelessly surrounded by Locusts reminded me of the Reaver scene at the end of Serenity.

Not that the Firefly / Serenity games would be all action. There have been threads discussing potential game styles...but I'm thinking a mixed bag. Some action, some RPG, some exploration. Kinda like a galactic sandbox game.

But anyway, I digress....

My point is the idea that the series take place over the course of a series of games. Until enough money is made to arouse the studio's attention into thinking that a new tv series may be profitable.

Whatcha think?

There was talk (that died) about a 'Verse based MMORPG (Kinda like Warcraft but with spaceships)

and if it happened I'd be all over it like a Reaver in a preschool (ICK! Wrong analogy)

Anyway, Might work... Long as it's also for the PC.... I don't own any Game Consoles.

In this months Game Informer Magazine they ran a small article "Top 10 TV Shows That Need To Be Made Into Video Games" Firefly was number 6 I think.

Too costly. Nowadays costs for game development can rival those of movie productions.

In terms of fan produced continuation of the series, I always liked the idea of going the Manga route. Not the high quality artwork you see coming out US comic houses like Darkhorse, but more like those you would find in Japan's Shonen Sunday.

Here's a sample:

More or less let the writing carry the story rather than high quality artwork (though some Manga artists are "really" good).

I don't know if any fans have already done something like this, but considering the amount of fanfic being written and posted on FFF.NET, I'm sure it's worth a try to produce a fan made manga version of Firefly.

Frakkin corporate lawyers live to put a stop to such foolishness. Ask anybody posting vids on youtube.

I can't even rebroadcast my own speeches to city council without being threatened with a frivolous $300,000 copyright lawsuit from my own TV station.

But that's no reason to stop doing the right thing.

A MMORG would be the awesomest of awesomes.

An adventure/quest game would be ok, but I wouldn't necessarily want to have Joss give up the material he's stashed for that dream sequel/revamp/whatever on a video game. One based on the show's episodes, the movie, or the comics would be cool enough.

Could it be on the wii? Because I think I would find sheer joy in firing Zoe's mare leg, then swinging the nunchuck to bash someone across the face melee style with it.....

Sorry, sorry, nerded out there for a moment.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If any fan made games are made they should go the route of Flash games.

A point and click escape game (Escape from the Reavers)

An RPG - roleplaying - game (Get the cargo)

Take from the war and do a Tower Defense game.

A SHMP (shooters game, Jayne would love that)

An HTML game (not my personal favorite) and so many more the possibilities are endless.

I go to a site that has tonnes of casual Flash games and from what I've played and seen, this is do-able. You do need to know some programming, and get an artist to do the art, but since it's free and wouldn't make any profits there would be no (hopefully) problems with fux or Uni. And who knows, if it's real good it would make the rounds on other Flash game sites (and maybe make some new fans in the process).

This is what I see in getting games of the Verse. And since it would be fan made, we know it'd be good and true to the show.

Well, that's my two platinum's worth. What say you on the idea?

FIREFLYJUNKIE

I'd prefer they just continue the Firefly adventures in CGI animated films (with the cast doing their voices) - The technology in Beowulf could be applied quite well to making very true but animated representations of the main cast and then they'd be young forever and we could have Firefly adventures for decades to come...
