Try the veal?

I've been waiting for the job fairy to visit. I'm actually increasing the odds on her finding me by applying for stuff. (Or him.. knowing the way these things usually go my fairy is a drag queen..could be worse!)

I JUST NOW got a call back from a nice fellow at a placement service I called today. He's got two RN positions at an OB/GYN office that they want filled pronto. He's just sent them my resume and is waiting to hear back. He'll probably be calling me by tomorrow for a possible Friday interview.

Yay! Hope! Tiny little spark of hope, to be dashed against the rocks of reality into itty bitty little splintery shards while my heart breaks into pieces and bleeds, leaving a nasty mess everywhere that I'll just have to clean up. WHY?!! Why do I keep trying?!! (Sorry, the optimist in me had sway for almost two full paragraphs, and I had to do a reality check.)

Speaking of rocks, do we have any nice scotch which would go well on the rocks, she asked with a gleam in her eye..

Thankee kindly!

I also called KY today to inquire into the distance learning MSN/CNM program they have going. It's rather exciting. Two or three years of online didactic, then a hands-on gig under a preceptor where you live, and *poof* you're a professional smartie! (66 credit hours of didactic, 60 labors and 60 deliveries. The two are not necessarily a one-to-one ratio 'cause sometimes you just gotta do a c-section...) Another short burst of effort with the program and you can piggyback your FNP!
They have full time and part time options.

BEFORE ANYONE GOES ALL "NO WAY" ON ME:
Yes, it is self directed study. Yes, that is how I got my associates degree in nursing. No, it is not the traditional sitting on your ass in a classroom getting spoonfed information. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad or inferior. Many "traditional" nursing programs are offering online courses.
How many times were you in a class where the teacher was basically reading out of the book, and you'd already read the entire chapter and found yourself thinking about all the other studying you could be doing instead of being a warm butt in a chair?
Being able to work your studies around your schedule to optimal effect is a wonderful thing. It let me be a mom, take care of my grandfather, and still study hard ALL AT THE SAME TIME. (Graduated cum laude, thankyouverymuch. I was too lazy/busy to do a project for summa/magna cum.)
Furthermore, nobody is going to be willing to risk their reputation and licensure by signing off someone who hasn't got the chops when it comes to the clinical part. They will ride your ass into the ground until you get it or give up.

Sorry if I launched into a preemptive rant. I find it saves time.

(still waiting for the scotch. Hrm hrm.)

I am slowly working my way through a pitcher of sangria. Is tasty!

I had no lemons, so I used oranges and substituted mango and black raspberries. I love it when improvisation works. It's kind of like scatting on a jazz riff and having it all fall into place effortlessly.

Wow, that sounds gooooood..

I'm currently writing a book of a cs, when I thought I was going to be keeping it sweet and short.. silly me.. Apparently this char is gonna be very opinionated (already had to redo her personality once- I wanted to recycle a personality, make her a sweet optimistic person, but oh no, she had to insist on being a rebel..) lolz. I keep laughing at myself and confusing the heck out of the rents, simply because this hasn't happened to me before (the character writing herself, I mean- normally I manage to write books, but I'm planning it all; this time, I'm just scribbling it down as it pops into my head).

Ack, sorry, I'm babbling. I do that when I get giddy.. XD

FLOOD ALERT!!

So my week goes like this:

Monday: crap. Had to spend last 3.5 hours of work with no other nurses. Totally lost it and called manager when I got home an hour and a half late. Yelled.

Tuesday: Day off. Spend it calling and applying. Call agency, they just happen to have something OB and will forward my resume. He'll call me if they're interested. Another place is having a cattle call interview 6pm Wednesday but I have to work, I say it's doubtful but I'll try to make it.

Wednesday: Crap. Could not leave early to make interview due to crap that comes with being only RN and things not going smoothly. Two patients or two problems less and I would have made it. Got home to message that another place wants to meet me. Marginal yay. (After hours, must wait until next day to call.)

Thursday: Busy. Partly crappy. Agency finally calls, OB wants Friday interview. Cool. Phone tag with second place.
Go home to find third place called for interview. (see above parenthetical entry.)

Friday: Get up and get ready for interview at 10am. Do interview. (Nailed it! She wants me back to meet the docs Thursday at a second interview.)
Call the guy at the agency to let him know how it went. Agree to come in and drop off paperwork they need/application to agency. Call other woman to see about setting up an interview, as she had called the day before. They want me there that day. "No problem", set a time with time to spare, and I'm already dressed. Go do paperwork. More than I expected. Hop in car. Drive home and pick up resume. Call third place and set up interview for Tuesday. Hit construction using directions given by interviewer and end up 12 minutes late. Interview went OK. A little hard to read and maybe somewhat awkward. Did not feel as good as first one, but doable. I got her card and someone will call me Monday.
Get home to message from fourth place, (?!) 15 minutes too late to reach them. Initiate phone tag.

From drought to flood in under 48 hours. I feel like the most popular girl in school at prom time. Which I never was, so it's a little heady.

I'm glad I got more than one interview suit when I went shopping.

Keep keeping your fingers crossed for me. It ain't over till the deal is done. I could come in second or third at all of them. (For those keeping score: one OB office, three hospitals to date.)

Morning all! Hope your weekend was calm and relaxing!!

Me? I had a tree fall down from my yard into the road to make yesterday more exciting. Crushed an inground junction box for the power company but miss the overhead lines. Now we have to wait for the road comission to evaluate the rest of the tree (only half of it fell) to see if it should be removed.
