Shindig was the best so far. Great sword fights, great humor. We even seem to see Mal has some feelings for Inara.
We see the bad guy with the hat come back. ANd river talking irish was a hoot! Very, very fun episode!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I enjoy "Shindig" more each time I watch it, but I have to say it was my least favorite the first time around.

But my least favorite Firefly is still better than the best of a lot of other series.

I kind of thought you'd enjoy Shindig. The next episode, Safe, is a continuation, in a sense, in that they finish shipping the cows .

If you've been intrigued by Simon and River, or about Book, you will really enjoy this one. I personally consider disc two of the Series the best collection of stories. You're gonna love 'em all!

Fun, in't it? Shindig still IS one of my least favorite--or "middle favorites" as it were, but as Gordon said, "least favorite" of Firefly is, y'know!

The one thing I do adore is River's bit, I watch that over and over. She does it so WELL! And some of the dialog is great in that one, plus I loved seeing the central planets and the shindig itself...plus the put-down of the two bitches who dissed Kaylee, hee, hee, hee!

I do still SO envy you seeing them for the first time...I'm going to have to be careful soon or I'll watch them too often. When I do that with stuff I love, it kinda ruins it for a long time, and that's NOT something I want to do to FF!! I'm currently watching one a weekend with my husband and rewatching one or two our second time around with Choey (at HER request, I've seen it many more times than that!)...it's a lot. So I gotta leave it alone for a while after both of them finish.

Enjoy for us and keep posting so we get to enjoy it vicariously through you, y'hear??

Shindig has its own charm and appeal. THe put down on the "princess" was delicious as was seeing Kaylee surrounded by the men as she discussed ships and engines.

Badger, the bad guy with the hat, is a bit of a set piece but he so provides for River to come in and put him in his place you just gotta love the scene.

I do love Joss' visual choices. His final shot here tells us so much, without a word-- Kaylee goes to her bunk, settles down with a snack and some music, the camera shifts to her POV, and there is THE *D*R*E*S*S*. Gonna be a reminder of a wonderful experience for a long time.

Yep, Free, I forgot how much I loved the contrast of Kaylee and the guys; it's a perfect contrast to the bitches in the dresses, and having Kaylee know more than the guys did makes me smile every time.

Also, the scene with Badger stands out for me as much as a series of equally wonderful scenes between River and Book--I think you know the ones I mean. Dunno if Farscape has gotten that far, so I don't want to refer to it directly.

The writing of that scene with River and Badger was soooo wonderful, you just couldn't help but love it and think "thanx guys, that was a treat!"

Funny, Jim is the opposite. He's always bummed when an epi ends and says it was too short...then he starts getting pissed all over again that they cancelled it, hee, hee, hee!

He wouldn't even watch an epi last weekend, ran around dealing with stuff until Sunday, then said it was too late, so he'd watch a couple of epis of Buffy instead. I was disappointed I love the discussions we have after each epi; once he gets past being pissed off at Fox, we have fun.

That's one of the great things about FF (among so many others); it gets you thinking and talking if you watch it with someone seeing it for the first time.

Fox:
That there's no more Firefly:
That there are places like this where FF lovers can get together:

Reportedly, the cast were all shocked that Summer could do that, even on her first take. (Niki2, that was in the Companion books.)

Joss had originally cast himself in the role of Badger (in the Pilot), before Mark came along.

What a kick! It's always a fun shock to see someone do something completely out of character--and when done that well, impressive, too!

I love lots of things about Shindig - so many quotable moments! My brother got an acting degree a while back and in one of his classes the students acted out the sword fight from Shindig. He said it was interesting to see how many people recognized the reference. My brother didn't get it until the end.
