If you plan on seeing Zombieland keep your eyes open for a Big Damn Hero's gun doin some zombie head poppin. Pretty sure it was also used in a western at some point, you'll know it when you see it. There's also a pretty fun cameo about half way through the movie. (not by a BDH but still cool)
I thought the movie itself was pretty darn fun but part of that may have been due to the fact that I watched it in a completely empty, 400 seat auditorium til about 2 in the morning. (I get paid to do that sometimes as a theater manager)

Also wanted to take a second to unlurk and say howdy! I'm still kinda new to this forum, and forums in general, so I apologize for any noob sins I might commit in advance. I'm a huge Firefly and Serenity fan and have been for about 3 years now. I admittedly missed the boat on the show and the push for the BDM but hopefully have made up for it by throwing Firefly/Serenity viewing parties on a pretty frequent basis and thus converting friends and family.

As aforementioned I'm a theater manager and reside in Knoxville, TN so if any Browncoats in the area wanna see a free movie lemme know (seriously, giving away free tickets is about the only pleasure this gig gives me.) I also teach free swing dance lessons and occasionally rock out on Ukulele and dress up like Jayne. (Sometimes at the same time!) I'm so glad to find a place with so many shiny, friendly folks. Thanks and see ya out in the black.

-Oh.

I just came back from a midnight screening, and that movie was hilarious. It will be one of the sleeper hits of the year. At least I hope so. I just want a list of all the great one liners in that movie. Woody Harrelson was back in great form.

I highly recommend this.

I saw it at Midnight too and it's the best movie I've seen since District 9 (though District 9 was awesome for very different reasons).

Our entire theatre was roaring with laughter. I also went with two Browncoats we were quick to pick up on that Tallahassee carried a mare's leg as his choice gun (which when he pulled out for the first time I promptly said a loud "f*** yes!') and the character itself was very much so a Jayne kinda guy, which made us love him even more.

Fantastic, hilarious movie, definitely my new favorite contemporary Zombie film (Fido and Shaun also being the the top 3). Totally worth the price of admission and then some.

Ash

Don't read ANY reviews for the film if you want the surprise cameo to be a surprise....

No prob deadlock, thanks for the welcome . Mr. Harrelson was freakin great I think you'll dig it.

The cameo is short but awesome, it's worth the surprise so folks try not to read too many reviews cause the laugh is worth it.

How cool is that mare's leg right?! Good call Ash, there was a definite Jayne feel to Tallahassee, he had a great love for hats, guns, violence, and booze (or twinkies) . I also think Harrelson had a "Bwah" moment or two. So much zombie killin arse kickery

Woody Harelson was awesome in this film. It kind of took me back to his portrayal of Mickey in Natural Born Killers. The major differences being Tallahassee is a tad less psychotic and has better sense of humor. His sidekick is no slouch either. Delivering a deadpan narrative on the zombie apocalypse and armed with a laundry list of rules for survival Columbus is the perfect counter to Tallahassee's "time to nut up or shut up" mentality.

The celebrity cameo alone is worth the price of admission. The circumstances of their meeting and how it concludes nearly had me in tears. The other highlight of this situation is the reaction of 12 year old Little Rock who has no idea who he is and how Columbus educates her on the matter. Without giving anything away the scene which conicides with this is too good to be true. Imagine getting to role play a movie you really enjoyed with someone who starred in it. Just a sidenote: is that really where he lives? If it is, damn!

Special Effects done by Zoic Studios. That Abigail Breslin always does a good job. And Emma Stone looked so much different from Ghost of Girlfriends past.

Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

Emma looked so much different than in Drive...
(y'know that Tim Minear show starring Nathan Fillion...they both worked with some dude named Joss on Firefly? Small little Whedonverse we all live in, eh?)

Howdy Browncoats,

And welcome to the enjoyable maddnes of the good ship Serenity CharliePepper!

Was able to make it to the theater to see Zombieland today with Mrs. Z. Very funny movie. Harrelson is great and the movie did leave itself completely open for a sequel…..after all there ain’t no end to killin zombies ( < said in my best Brad Pitt voice)

When Tallahassee said that they should stay in the finest mansion in LA I thought for sure it would be Heff’s place……but nooooo…..It was &%^$#*’s place. Sooooo funny.

Great to come here and get a little inside info from my browncoat buddies, like, I didn’t know that Emma Stone was in “Drive” with Nathan Fillion, and I didn’t know that Zoic did the special f/x.

Glad to here that folks that loose a paycheck from F*>< still can find plenty of work elsewhere. That networks loss I would say.

Also caught an advertisement for the upcoming “V” tv series on ABC. Morena’s beautiful face nearly filling up the entire screen….and it’s premiering on my birthday. A happy event indeed.

For Vampire Slayers, check out “ Transylmania” on You-Tube. Horror comedy.

For Horror for it’s own sake…”Wolfman” is coming out and looks great!!

And for kill yourself today….before this happens tomorrow. The feel good movie for now times “2012” is coming to theaters soon.

To sum it up it was a nice day, Z

Thanks for the warm welcome SGG and Zzeta! Glad you had a good one Z, I loved Zombieland and The Wolfman trailers look pretty great but I dunno about Transylmania, looks kinda like Road Trip set in Transylvania , could have some good ol mindless humor and old school vampire fun potential though!
