John Phillips, who was a member of the '60s Mamas and the Papas band." Phillips, who starred on the TV show "One Day At a Time," writes in the book that she had sex with her father the night before her wedding in 1979 to Rolling Stones entourage member Jeff Sessler.

Is there a point here? Some people are messed in the head, famous or not. I bet many posters on this board have some skeletons in their closets.

So, really, who cares?

If they were like everyone else they wouldn't be in Hollywood.

That's 5, out of how many who have worked in Hollywood during the time period you cover?
What kinda percentage is that? Kinda like saying, " ALL Senators have been pervos, just like Larry Craig." or " All baseball players since Abner Doubleday have been druggies, like Barry Bonds and Manny Ramirez.
Which is not to say that actors are not a mentally unstable bunch-- it takes a neurotic person to do what actors do. And Hollywood, because of all the money involved, is an environment about power, and exploitation and temptation and drugs and abuse.

Which IS why actors are like they are...

The most important point is that as many of them are as close to normal as they are.

The real difference is the papers can't make money from us folks, the salt of the earth, people of the land. You know: morons.

We don't sell papers by saying weird crap without a thought in the world to what it means or how it hurts others.

Put this terribly creative person in front of a crowd of parents and the need for words will disappear.

Performers are performers, not in touch with reality, people of fantasy. You know: wackoes.

Interesting how the backlash they heard put some silence into them, though. We did make a difference.

Nice generalization. Rather baseless, but evocative.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

This is roughly akin to saying that ALL Republicans are suffering from dementia, and then making the case for that claim by holding up the rotted head of Ronald Reagan and saying, "See?"

Are SOME actors screwed up in the head? Yup. Some musicians, too. Lots of politicians, it would seem. And even some Browncoats.

That's why I never "went Hollywood". Didn't want anybody thinking I was messed up in the head. Hafta shoot 'em if they thought that.

Do I find it weird, strange, and all manner of hi-larious that some posters are referring to all screen actors as weird wackoes, keeping in mind this is a forum and fan site about 9+ actors and a ship? Yes I do.

That said, the nature of the business alone is enough to make people that enter it a mite odd. I'm talking about everything else that doesn't happen between "action" and "cut", more than what does.

It's odd, Sky - I've been chided here for watching TV, and even for OWNING a TV. I think sometimes people forget what this place is... (myself included!)

Luckily, no politicians are messed in the head.
Or we'd be stuck in multi-decades wars & s**t.
