America loves a winner!

I was listening to several of The Signal podcasts last week, and heard some talk of a fan project, 'Browncoats: Redemption', and that sparked a memory of another movie I had heard about a while ago, but have yet to see any follow up information.

Redemption seems to be coming along nicely, but I've not heard anything about the status of 'Into the Black'. I think I have the working titles correct. )

Anyone have the 411 on what's up w/ either of these productions ?

Into The Black is on hold as real life intrudes.

They are apparently moving in a different direction:

Greetings!

Into the Black wants to expand into a webcomic!

We have REAMS of story, character, and setting waiting to roll; much more than we could ever fit into as many episodes as we could ever film. So we're looking for fans with the skill and dedication to help us fly in this new direction.

The most up to date news of Browncoats: Redemption is this interview:

...let me bring you up to speed. We’ve completed principal photography, so that means the film is fully done minus editing and CGI (the stages we are in now). We are releasing our first teaser trailer this year at Dragon*Con 2009 and the trailer will be available online a few days after the convention.

The next trailer for Browncoats: Redemption should be premiered at the Firefly Con in LA in November and will be available online about a week or so later.

The film itself will premiere at Dragon Con in September of next year.

Cool. I'm a few episodes behind in my Signal listening, and I was on vacation, so all this kinda got pushed to the side, until I could think to ask again.

Here's a chance to help the BDFF (Big Damm Fan Film):

There's just a few days left in the America's Giving Challenge and to date, with your help, we've raised $1,075.

The cause to get the most donations by Nov 6, 3:00pm ET will receive $50,000. So far the leading cause, OCEF (Overseas China Education Foundation), has 802 members and has raised $16,660.

We have half the members and a tenth of their donations raised. If each of members could donate just $10, starting now, then we'd be 1/3 of the way there. For those that have donated* (see bottom of email), empower a friend to donate $10 as well.

For those that donated $25 or more to the cause please contact me personally with your name, address, telephone number, and shirt size. Due to a misunderstanding of how Causes sends the donations to the charities, t-shirts will be going out in the mail around November 30th. Due to the delay, a special gift will be given to those who've donated that you won't receive anywhere else.

That means, if you haven't donated yet, you are just in time for a great Christmas gift for friends.

With your help we'd like to show them what Browncoats are really made of. That's going to really take some work on all our parts to promote it. Sending out tweets, facebook status updates, and whatever. Get creative and let us know.
Let friends know you can donate right from our websites home page without having to have a Facebook Account.

If we can become the top cause by Nov 6th, the entire prize of $50,000 will be split evenly to our chosen charities.

The Alliance couldn't stop the Signal and, with your help, neither will we.

I sent in some credits and I'm wondering what the surprise is. I guess I'll see.
