Hey everybody- I just found out that Michael Hitchcock, the actor who played Dr. Mathias in Serenity, and who has always been a fan of Firefly and supporter of Browncoats both at home and abroad (I posted about one of the times that he handed out copies of Serenity and Firefly DVDs to the troops in Iraq while on a morale tour before). Is going to be on the t.v. show "Glee", and is apparently also in upcoming episodes of "Men of a Certain Age" and "United States of Tara." He's an awesome guy in person (I've met him), and I was really impressed with how giving he was of his time and $$$ to buy all those DVDs to give out (I don't know how many exactly, but he had an armful). As a veteran myself, and a huge fan of the 'Verse, I felt like supporting one of the people who gave us a face to a character that was so important to Joss's world.

By the way, when I met him, I asked him how he liked playing the guy who "messed up River's brain" and he replied:

"I don't understand why people would hate Dr. Mathias- he was the guy who made [River] the woman she is today! (laughingly)"

Kinda messed up, but funny.

Apparently he's going to be on "Glee" this Wednesday, and again on December 9th. I haven't seen the show, but I keep hearing about it.

PS- If you're on here, Mr. Hitchcock, thanks for your support!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Glee is a pretty good show, although it's a bit uneven at times and definitely over-the-top. Plus there are a couple of characters and plot threads I don't care for. It does boast a lot of really talented singers though, and I enjoy it for the most part.

I wonder if Michael can sing.

Does everyone on that show sing? I can only imagine the lady from "40-Year Old Virgin" singing.

It's good to know that more and more of the actors from Firefly are good folk. I would really love to see more of them getting work. BTW Gregg Henry was on Glee in the last ep, and no, he didn't sing. As usual, he was quite good playing the dad of one of the characters.

Hulu has most of the episodes posted. Take a peek and see for yourself, it's mostly fun and you need to suspend your belief a bit. It reminds me of Eli Stone. Of course, not all the numbers on the show are great, but they come pretty damn close.

You're welcome. We all have to do our part, however it is that we do it.

"Dang. Four missed calls."

I feel okay laughing at his part since I am partially deaf now myself.

Well, that and the fact it was funny.

I messaged him on his Facebook to thank him for handing out DVDs overseas.

When I was in Iraq, some of us had a DVD or a boxed set that we carried around and shared with our buds (the Firefly boxed set was mine). I've never introduced anyone to Firefly that didn't like it. An awesome gift for the troops, in my opinion.

I thought Michael was great last night, and his club's rendition of "Imagine" was the highlight of the show.

Another brilliant episode.

"Who do you think I am?"
"That's actually a very good question, because I've forgotten both your names."

Watched it with the girlfriend- I agree that the "Imagine" scene was pretty powerful, but I was surprised at how poignant and moving they made it. Is that common on the show? From the commercials, it always looked like a "High School Musical" show (excepting for teenager and above content).

I wonder what his next appearance is going to be like on the 9th?

This show has a lot of hidden little gems throughout. I loved the fact that they carried a theme through the ep - distraction. How often are we distracted from what we want and need to do. I'm really surprised at how well-written this show is.

Aphasia is a disorder that results from damage to portions of the brain that are responsible for language.

......The disorder impairs the expression and understanding of language..........

Brilliant, we lose, on a daily basis, our ability to communicate to one another. This ep illustrated that point subtlely and smoothly.
Who'd of thunk it from a show about HS Glee Clubbers.
