Hulu now links directly to TheWB web site to view some episodes...

Looking over wikipedia on Warner Bros I see no connection between them and Fox... so does this mean that the tv rights have changed hands? I'm confused, anyone know?

I haven't heard anything about the WB having bought the rights to the franchise, but they might have bought the rights to play reruns or are paying Fox royalties. They've done that with a number of shows.

Ever since Firefly first started airing on hulu, outtakes and selected clips have been hosted on the WB. Maybe they're the sponsors promoting the series on hulu. Odd that it's not the people who actually OWN the series, but then, this is Firefly, I guess someone over there likes it. :)

Thx Byte - I agree with your last bit that it's a bit odd another network/studio else feels like they can turn a profit even after paying for the rights (apparently) while the owners don't believe so. Just wishful thinking when I saw that I guess, "WB testing the market to see if they $should launch a restart..."

Yeah, I even googled WB and Firefly after I saw this looking for any kind of news release, which a relaunch of the franchise would probably warrant. Northing, so unless it's hush-hush, it's probably the simpler explanation.

But then again, Joss IS being a little bit cagey about just what his next project is going to be after Dollhouse...

Heck, wouldn’t it be great if something were up with Joss and FF. He’d have a ready made audience rocking to go. I know I’d tell everyone I know to tune in and watch.

Maybe my wishing is a little off base and nothing will come of anything, But HEY, we do start a new year in a few days so……..

Very bizzare...but it does make you wonder. The WB was home to Buffy and Angel for quite a long time, maybe they have been working on something with Joss behind the scenes to bring back the man behind their last, real hit.

At any rate, the more the 'verse is spread around the more fans we will accumulate.

The TV business is like politics , in that there are ' no coincidences '.

Interesting observations being made by Folk here...I would say that the fact of WB seeming to take over the old F-network role with regard to the Hulu/Firefly situation is not without some significance...

Expect some downsizing and consolidating in this economy...Might be a good time to day-trade some F-network and WB Television stocks...

Bears watching , at least...

Sadly, I'd say it's pretty much entirely without significance when it comes to "Firefly". Take a look at the list of shows TheWB.com has available for viewing: http://www.thewb.com/shows/

Unless they're going to be bringing back shows like "Angel", "Buffy", "Babylon 5", and "Friends"... unless they're going to be taking over shows like "Chuck" (NBC), "Fringe" (FOX), and "V" (ABC)... I'd wager they're not going to be doing anything new with "Firefly".

Aside from that, and assuming a miracle... Book and Wash are dead, Inara is on "V", Mal is on "Castle", and Jayne is on "Chuck". What is left of "Firefly"?

huh, who knew "the WB" still had a web presence...( the tv network merged with cbs owned UPN a few years ago to form 'the CW'(Cbs+Warner bros))
as for the shows other than Firefly you list..
Buffy and Angel - Aired on WB, filmed @/by Fox Studios
Friends,Babylon 5, Chuck, Fringe, V(the original one), and even Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles( you didn't list it, but it's on the list @ the link you provided), while airing all over the map, were/are all Warner Bros television Studio Productions
