I just read an article on MSN about shows that got cut before their time and I saw Firefly. I had never heard about it. I gave up on tv a while ago. My first big disappointment was when fox (what a coincidence) cut Space Above and Beyond... anyway, A few friends were talking about these dvd's a few days later, so I asked about it. One guy said he would just have to loan them to me.. so I watched the first dvd and was hooked. I cannot believe that, a: I missed this series when it was on tv and b: it is gone!!! I am only on episode 8, but I am a total fan. I can quote a few good lines (yea, but she's our witch! and That's why I don't kiss em on the lips).
A few newbie questions: Is another network looking at picking it up? I have read UPN.. but I might be behind on the rumors.
Also, is the whole movie thing a real deal or just a fan dream?

Anyway, what an awesome show. I have told at least 20 people about it in the last week.. so I hope it will grow in popularity!

The movie is the real deal and is no longer a fan's dream. The movie should be out sometime in 2005.

Most networks have turned down Firefly after it was canceled but if the movie does well then there my be a chance that it will be picked up again.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Nothing is certain on another network picking it up, but the movie thing is NOT just a fan dream. If you look around at some other posts on here, you'll see lots of link to articles and things like that. They've got like $35mil to do the movie and the cast is signed on and the script is written. It is a go!
By the way, WELCOME!

And welcome to the board, where we are mighty because we do the impossible. They said that Firefly was dead when it was canceled but they were wrong. They said that the DVDs wouldn't sell but they were wrong. And they said that the movie would never happen and they were wrong. We Browncoats haven't given up yet and we have more and more joining our ranks everyday.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Did you post a review on amazon recently? Because I read a review where the reviewer said he/she was only on episode 8.

Welcome Gnoc! I envy you -- you still have 'new' (unwatched) episodes to enjoy! But don't worry, as RK said the movie's been greenlit so we only have to wait another year or so (363 days 23 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds, 363 days 23 hours 59 minutes 58 seconds, ...)

Good. Thanks for the update.

yup, that was me. I posted it yesterday and found this board today. And I am still on episode 8 since I had to return the disks.. also, my friend asked me about the episode Jayne's Town and I seemed to have skipped it! So I have really only seen 7! (you cringe I am sure) I have a date with Best Buy tonight and I am buying them. I had to own them anyway.

Yes, I have plenty to watch... but I watched them so quick that they are blurring, so I need to watch them over.. and over.. and over..

About the movie. Please tell me it is the same cast... every one of them.

So far so good. The only problems are that we are unsure whether Ron Glass (Book) and Alan Tudyk (Wash) have signed on yet but chances are they will. Everyone else but those two have signed to do the movie according to the Universal press release that came out a few weeks ago.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Actually, that's not correct. Alan and Ron have not yet signed, though I wouldn't be worried about it quite yet. I believe their current contract options expire in May, which would free them up in time to begin filming "Serenity," which starts filming on June 4.

Ron Glass has stated how much he "Firefly," so I don't know why he wouldn't do the movie.

I don't know about Alan though. He's finished a few movies recently, not sure what he's up to now.
