Silly, silly genetics.. what was it thinking with the whole limited repertoire thing?

So I'm on enforced vacation. (Job stopped yesterday. Vacation started today.)

I am determined to take the next two weeks to enjoy myself and try to NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. Woo-hoo! Time off unpaid or no, is still time off.

Plus I'd be OK with it if the doc I was working with literally bites her tongue every time she goes to give someone a verbal lashing, especially her long-suffering MA.
I am perfectly willing to accept the premise that I am incapable of critical thinking and am not living up to even the minimum standards of your office, but you don't have to be rude.

So, no job. Yayz!

Now: to figure out how to approach my next step.

After I get the dishes and laundry done, weed the garlic mustard, mow the lawn (I changed the oil and am charging the battery on the riding mower. I feel so butch!), and then try to remember how to relax.

It sucks having a birthday in the winter when you're older too, not like those pesky summer people who get to have BBQs and beach parties. There isn't a lot you can do other than stay in. But November is still the best winter month there is :o)

Over on Facebook someone quoted some rock song or something I think, which is supposed to be The Beast.

Someone else responded with a parody by Darkwing Duck.

This, this is my answer to them both.

"I am the baleful glare and the order and the vague threat. I am the Because in the I said so. I am the cause of the room which is clean. I am the voice in the heads of men, making them put their dish in the sink and pick up those damned socks. I am the voice like a whip crack up your spine. I am the eternal and omnipresent and unending. I am the source of the cookie and I will never be overthrown." - The Mom

Syracuse is sort of like a black hole. You just keep getting sucked back in no matter how many times you leave.

But in a good way!

(I actually like it here, I could just deal with about a month and a half to two months less winter. Or winter that doesn't need a restraining order to go away once it warms up.)

It's a sad, sad thing to see your lilacs in bloom and bowed under the weight of snow. And the herbs you transplanted from one location to another shivering in their new beds with not a damned thing to be done about it. (I am not propping up my hair dryer under plastic sheeting and running it all day and night.)

Plus the apple trees are in full bloom which means this cannot bode well for this year's crop. Mmmm.... apples fresh off the tree... just wee bitty flowers and a bee's workday right now.

Morning all,

so we're doing the trad English spring of Sunny but cool, then rain, then cold, then Sun, then Hail, then cloudy etc. None of it as extreme as snow but all good clean fun.

Anyone get up to anything interesting over the weekend, for the first time in weeks I did pretty much nothing but sleep, some housework and bum around with other half, it was really very pleasant.

I'm also daftly excited, band has it's first gig on July 3rd and we were on storming form last night at practice, ready two months out, which is great!

Also, one of my friends somehow managed to score extra tickets to the Download festival, I'm even more daftly excited about that but I suppose I'd better get one with my day.

Hey SR,

well I clearly have maths joy and would be happy to offer help (I'm actually a pretty good tutor depending on level) but doesn't having a particle physicist in the house help?

I'll confess the first things I usually have to fight when tutoring maths is the whole maths is scary mental block that lots of people have and secondly, it's ok to find it hard and to have to work at it before you get it right.

I'm also now curious but that's just me, you can't tease me with a snippet and not expect interest. Anyway, best of luck with teh maths.

From there I should be able to make the numbers dance.

as ever, talk of maths has empty the bar, 'twas ever thus.

I'm not taking a break from said maths, in this case calculus involving two independent variables and dependent variable, which you plot in 3 dimensions.

My head officially hurts, think I'll sneak in some writing whilst waiting for other half to finish working on presentation with the old man (currently at folks place.)

As it happens, my maths obsession comes to an end this year and I get to start on Physics, which is the degree I'm meant to be going for but needed to get my maths up to scratch first and I decided to take it a little further before embarking on the serious Physics so basically will have done three years worth as foundation.

*magics up more drinks*

You can come out now, the maths is done for the day, just cradle of filth to contend with

When exactly on your vacation does this "relax" thing start normally?

Maybe Wednesday I can just park it in a comfy chair and not move ALL DAY LONG... until I have to go pick up the son from school and take him to karate. And fix dinner. And do dishes and laundry. Probably ought to eat and shower in there somewhere, good likelihood of bathroom breaks, coffee won't make itself, yard needs tending to and seeds want planting, living room is not quite halfway painted, mirrors need hanging, jacket to be finished for the man, room needs a thorough seeing-to, maths to study, email to check, bills to pay...

flying visit as have maths to do (2 850 MsA) but thought I'd say hi.

I get round the whole barber/hair cut thing by talking a good game but only ever getting round to having a cut about once a year it seams, which is crazy as I love the whole having your hair washed by someone else thing. I'm guessing it'll be end of July this year as sis is getting married and hair is already getting down past shoulders!

Had an ace weekend, engagement party of one of other half's best friends, got to play some basketball and celebrating that clever other half appears (just waiting for conformation letter) to have landed herself a new job at a school for kid with special needs with a management role!

Now maths, maths, and need to at some point to get some bandanas for Download, which I know is a random thing to say but it's more of a memory aid for myself!

It's not intentional, but my subconcious mind has yet to accept that MATH LEARNING WILL HAPPEN and IT IS NOT THAT HARD.

Rationally I understand that I (ooh.. rational number pun, sorry) am perfectly capable of learning everything I need to and it is silly to continue to hold such a grudge against a bunch of abstract symbols from my high school experience.

Rational thinking can overcome irrational fears. (Square root of Pi, you have no power over me! Take that vile cosine! I have solved for x where x is equal to.)
