Is scraped better than scrapped?

Dictator Obama killed Pontiac. There's no Rockford without Firebird.

Guess that's why Alan has time to do Transformers 3. And I like the new V!

Sorry, I've SCRAPPED my "Speak & Spell". I can't fix it in the headline section. As for no more "Firebird", could a "HEMI" powered Challenger have worked?

No. Rockford drove a Firebird. Maybe they could use a Hemi Charger to remake The Dukes of Hazzard.

Rockford drives a Firebird.
Magnum drove a Ferrari.
Dan Tana drove a Thunderbird.
Nash Bridges drove a 'Cuda (not a Challenger - a 'CUDA)
Bullitt drove a Mustang.

Sorry, but those cars are an intrinsic part of those shows. That's like trying to reboot Firefly with our Cap'n running the Millenium Falcon; it's just WRONG!

Don't know why they killed Pontiac. Hell, they've got a new Camaro; a Firebird was never anything more than a few appearance mods tacked onto a Camaro, a few different engine choices and a couple vomiting-chicken stickers slapped onto the Trans Am models. They could've offered a Firebird or Trans Am, easy. But for all that, the Pontiac G8 sedan was the better car anyway. Same chassis and drivetrain as that ugly pug of a Camaro, with better looks and better interior, as well as real room for four.

I'm glad they trashed the idea. I'm not necessarily opposed to re-makes (looking forward to the A-TEAM and TRON movies this year), but they work better when they're not based around a single character (or actor). I could see the CHARLIE'S ANGELS series being successful because they can try to replicate the basic "formula," but THE ROCKFORD FILES? The appeal of that show was all about James Garner (and a solid supporting cast). With the right actor, I suppose it COULD work, but Dermott Mulrooney? He's so... bland. Ugh.

How would you feel about Nathan Fillion as Jim Rockford?

(I know, ain't happenin' - he's already got a successful show and all that; I'm just throwin' it out there as a hypothetical). I think our cap'n has the right kind of wit and smart-ass attitude to pull it off.

Vomiting chicken stickers? I always prefered a 70 GS with a "Stage 1" anyway. I'm sure Alan will be OK, he's going to be in "Tranformers 3"......I'm sure he'll die in that flick too.

Serenity, dead

3:10 to Yuma, dead

"V", dead

Transformers 3, ?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Maybe they'll revisit the idea if the new Hawaii 5-0 is a success. Even if Rockford doesn't get a remake you know they'll just remake something else.

OH HELL YEAH he would! I'd love to see our cap'n as Han Solo. Let's face it - Fillion's a much better actor than Harrison Ford, or at least better than Ford was at that point in his career.

Doesn't matter to me, 455 ci Buick "Stage 1" eats Firechickens for fuel, it's a fact.

Actually, I think since it's a Pontiac Trans Am, it's more likely to be vomiting up its engine's innards. :)

Gee, didn't I hear they remade Knight Rider with some Rustang as KITT?

Stingray drove a Vette Stingray.

Rockford drove the Formula for the superior power/torque of the Pontiac Big Block engine, which were last used in the Second Generation of Firebirds (ended in 1981). A Firebird without a Pontiac is just a Chebby in drag.

Of course, I have one of those with an LS1.
