There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I know there are a few other Texicans around here, spotted some on the "Honk if you love Firefly" thread a week or so back. Also, since we are getting new recruits on a daily basis there are probably even more now.

So how's about it? Let me know where you are in Texas, and if there is any chance we could organize a shindig. I'm right about in the middle of the state, in Waco.

I'm in/from Houston, but I don't have a car and Metro doesn't have a bus I can take that far. Maybe I can convert someone in my dorm who has a car.

I would like to get together and meet some people in the area, though.

Houston - 3 converts with 4th "in process" and 5th lined up and waiting. Oh, you know you're a rabid fan when you plan on buying someone a DVD player so that they can watch Firefly...LOL!

The first Dallas Browncoat is reporting for duty! Would be oh so pleased to make the trek to Waco

OR

we'd be pleased to host the Texas Shindig here in Plano, TX - former home to Mr. Alan Tudyk that we all know (and love) as Wash.

If there's a Texas Shindig, I can bring many, many video tapes of Alan performing in a local comedy troupe that we were both part of called Rubber Chicken. Even back then he was funny and had a great sense of comedic timing.

I can't wait to meet the rest of y'all (as we say here in Tx).

Dallas Tx here. Well, Mesquite actually, but close enough. I know of several Firefly fans in Waco. Dont think most of them post here though. Have converted a couple here in Dallas, and atleast 1 in Houston. Working on people all over the world via EverQuest.

I belive there is a shindig planned for May in Austin. It may have been canceled but there was a thread on it awhile back. Dont know if I will be able to attend due to the money thing though.

I am not worried about the bullet with my name on it. Just the thousands marked "Occupant".

I could definitely go for an Austin Shindig. Lived there for about 12 years before returning to my home town of Waco. I think it's a very shiny town...that is if they would ever finish all the highway construction.

I would also be interested in learning of any other Waco Browncoats. I haven't been fortunate in interesting anyone else in the show...yet, that is. Still trying though.

I got kinda excited about the other Texas Browncoats ... until I realized most of these posts were from about 2 years ago. Guess that's what I get for being a latecomer, huh?

Arlington here. Have converted 4 so far, and continuing to work on more.

Not sure who the genius was who made the shirt design (step up and claim your credit if you're the creative one!), but I saw an old thread recently with one of the funniest shirt designs ever ....

Another Austinite here. Well, transplanted Austinite... I grew up in San Angelo, about 100 miles from Odessa (also known as "O-Desolate"). My two brothers lived and worked in Midland/Odessa for a number of years, before heading for greener (literally) pastures just north of San Antonio.

I'm the one who started this thread nearly two years ago, and I'm still in Waco. Have met a few other Browncoats but not many. I know you're out there...but where?

I've met artcat and her brother Lost Thought, and others at a shindig near Austin about a year and a half ago, met others at two different Serenity screenings in Austin last year, and tried to get a meetup group started here but it never gelled.

I'm definitely up for a trip to Houston in June.

It will be great to see you again hun

folks I know the Dallas crew is active they are a shiny group (roadtripped up to shindig with em once)

www.dallasbrowncoats.com

Austin has a yahoo group ( I think) I know several come down and join us from College Station every so often as well.

Yall (well ok all browncoats) are welcome at our June LoneStar SHindig (well yall are always welcome but this is gonna be a big one!)

www.apollocon.org click here for the dates, umm last year they had quite a few technical panels going with the NASA guys running em, Houston crew will be on some panels as well (that is still being worked out)

the Party officially begins that Friday we have a party suite reserved for the whole weekend. Friday night is a Tea ceremony meet and greet, food looking like it escaped from shindig, light stuff like fruit, strawberries being a must have, and "some kind of hot cheese over there"

there will also be a costume contest later that weekend. if folks come into town early, notify the Houston board, www.houstonbrowncoats.com we will make sure to meet up with you and give you the tour or schedule you your very own train job!

one of the Houston crew has reserved several hotel rooms I think she still has some crash space available, yall can also use our board to figure out your roommate arrangements if you need one/two or three :)

WE are hoping to have a big presence at apollocon it is very kind of them to let us do this, and please remember there will be browncoat oriented stuff at the con

Thanks for the Dallas Browncoat link. I'll have to check that out. I'm a fairly new Browncoat and hadn't found them yet.

As for shindigs, I'd definitely haul to Austin for one, especially if the Alamo ever does another Firefly marathon like they did last year (I can not believe I hadn't found the 'verse at that point, or I SO would have been there!). And might come to Houston in June--never been to a con, but Firefly has convinced me I might want to try it.

Glad to see the Texans crawling out of the black to say hello!

A recent Browncoat recruit reporting - I'm near Waco (about 60 miles SE - near Lake Limestone, back in the woods at a little place I like to call Serenity, TX).
I'm a fan of pretty much all of Joss Whedon's work...but Firefly/Serenity has to be my favorite.

Glad to see so many interested people. I still can't understand why this great program isn't still on tv today - all the shows I like usually get shot down to make room for a stupid reality show....aaaagggggggaaaa!!!

suggestion for yall waco folks while yall are all watching this thread I suggest yall use this thread to organize a shindig in Waco, just simple meetup at a restaurant thats easy to find or something.

Once you have had one meetup its easier to have more and get organized

the biggest thing is spotting each other at the shindig location that first time. where clothing that is easy to identify folks as browncoats.

Hey Artcat, nice to see you've resurected this puppy.....
I'm near Bryan-CS on my little rancho and missin me some Firefly. The Lonestar Shindig sounds like the cure for what ails me. But, unfortunatly, looks like it just ain't in the stars for me.

Me and the crew usually head to the beautiful turd-brown waters of the third coast for a few days of R&R right around the time you guys will be up to your eyeballs in mudders milk or cold brews....
Port A isn't all that far from Space City, but it's gonna be damn hard to drag me off that fishin boat...... so, all i can do is wish you guys all the best... have a great time and keep flyin'
