So, I've just found a way to pass a Monday morning. I have this family reunion coming up in July with my Dad's side of the family who I've never met. I am in no way looking forward to meeting these people 1 freaking time and then hopefully never seeing them again. So, my Dad sent me a family tree this weekend and I was a little surprised how many cousins I have.

Anyway the fun way to pass the time is to suggest to my friends that I hit on my female cousins in order to get shunned by that side of the family and never get invited to any other family events again. One of my friends was extremely disturbed by this as if I'd actually hook up with my cousin. lol So, of course I'm just running with the idea to keep creeping her out. Fun times.

Ponder: What's the quickest and easiest way to get alienated from relatives you don't know and don't give a rat's ass about?

Ha! Picnic. I wish. These are apparently fancy pants east coast jerks. They're having a catered dinner in a reception hall at something like $50 a plate. I've gotta send my payment here at some point. Maybe everyone else on my dad's side of the family is loaded or something.

It's an odd train of logic. So, I never want to turn into my dad. One of the things about my dad that I find ridiculous is that he seriously hates his brother. Won't tell us anything about it. Doesn't like to speak his name. They never speak and all that.

So, I try to not drive a wedge between me and my brother unless absolutely necessary.

My brother either takes pity on my dad or actually has fond feelings towards him. If it weren't for him I would have just told my dad to shove it and get out of my life. However, then he'd probably get depressed and my brother would be really mad at me.

Basically the same reasoning applies to why I'm going to this stupid thing. Otherwise my dad would get mad. In turn my brother would get mad. Then I'd be like my dad. How's that for messed up logic?

Not messed up logic...family logic

For example, the day after school ends, instead of relaxing happily in much deserved I survived coma, I will be getting on a plane and flying 5 hours ( due to layovers) with a furious baby and grumpy husband so we can go to salt lake and hang out at my parents.... where my mother will proceed to spend the week harping on my weight, my parenting, my lack of house, my choice of clothing, and everything else about me she finds objectionable.
I am doing this because, if I don't, I will miss out on time with my siblings and dad. By the end of the week I will be inches from a nervous breakdown and have psychological scarring...but I do it anyway because if I don't I won't see my siblings because I will bust my ass to go see them and none of them will visit me..... go figure

Family is sooooo much fun:)

Now on to survival strategies... Do you know enough about these people to know their political stance?? Because nothing makes people want you to leave more than being of the opposite leanings politcally.... and if all else fails.... mention your new job as treasurer for the pro abortion ( or anti abortion...whatever their leaning) movement

On that note I think it's time for a subject change. Zeek's picked himself up a stalker. lol

This girl from my old job is the only person who decided to "keep in touch" after I left. Which is odd cause I never really talked to her at work. We've exchanged a few emails of just small talk type stuff. Then earlier this week she asked if I take a certain road to work because she thought she saw me driving on it. Sure enough I do. Then today she asks if I live in the exact apartment complex I live in. Stalker!! There's like 8 apartment complexes on that road in the 4 block stretch I take to work. That's creepy.

I've seen how these things play out in movies. The pets are always the first target. If she touches a hair on Kaylee's head she's a dead woman.

So, how's everybody else's thursday going?

Disagree that she has a crush.

Agree about the people who harm animals.

I just don't buy that theory. Though a couple of my friends agree. My reasoning is a.) We never really talked much at work and she had the office directly across from mine. b.) She hasn't tried to friend me on facebook or bring up any topics that would lead to doing something together. Like "what do you think of movie X?" or "big plans for memorial day weekend?". Nothing like that.

So, my bet is she's just being friendly and holding on to a career contact. They did just have layoffs at my old company on tuesday or something like that. I so got out at a good time.

haha no that's for everything the dinner, bbq, bowling, trolley ride and a boat ride. Still the bbq was the most ridiculous thing on the list to me. I totally agree catering it is unamerican. Seriously hot dogs and burgers aren't that expensive or difficult to prepare. I'm sure everyone would pitch in $5 or $10 for a regular bbq if asked. Bah whatever it's a one time fee and then I can say I hated it and never want to see them again.

lol good one

So, ponder how much would you be willing to put up with for a good paycheck. One of my other friends from my old company is looking around now. She got an interview at a place that I have never heard anything good about. Like time cards and strict monitoring of your work habits and stuff. They also are known for having layoffs. However, she found a listing for the job online with a 6 figure salary listed. *drool* So, it's kind of a toss up. Would you put up with it for the $$$?

Hi All,

Holy mackarel, where has the time gone? I was planning on stopping by on a more regular basis...but somehow it's weeks and weeks later. Not sure how that always seems to happen to me. Grr.... I tried to respond awhile back but for some reason my password is never remembered anymore and at my age (teehee) I can't be expected to remember it. then I waste some time going through the "password logic" game (I joined when? What password was I most using then? Well, what about this one, etc) and finally throw my hands up in despair and say forget it. But I always come back at some point hoping to remember.

So, the job's good, eh Zeek? I certainly hope so. Changing jobs is a huge gamble, IMO.

MSA - Hope you are doing well and have fun in SLC. Don't listen to that mother of yours.

Jobs/money: lots of money only offsets a bad workplace for so long. And the stress of a bad workplace takes its toll. BUT, if I was looking to move onward/upward, I would still go if it could build my career and just not plan to stay forever. Save the extra $$$ and take advantage. 'Course, this means you actually get the job. I would still apply at any rate, b/c most people can use practice interviewing...and you never know the kinds of contacts you can make for future reference. I'm currently working somewhere I had no idea I would be working and it was all through networking.

Also, Zeek - I agree that stalker girl might just have a crush on you. Some girls aren't good with leading conversations that give guys the opportunity to ask you out with less pressure. Maybe she was waiting for you to talk to her, never know. Still, it's a little strange that she knows which building you live in. Did you ask her how she figured it out?

I live on the main drag for most people going to my old workplace. I can't tell you how many people were like "I saw you" or "OMG, you live there" and then would proceed to keep tabs on me, "I drove by but you weren't home," etc. Blech. That kind of sucked.

Yep job is going well. So far it's keeping me interested, the atmosphere is good and the people I work with are ok. Did I mention the super weirdness of this office allowing people to bring their dogs to work? Not like seeing eye dogs just pet dogs. Gotta say that's pretty weird in my book. Not that I mind so far. No one who brings their dog in sits near me right now. So, I just get to see them randomly and sometimes hear some barking. Also funniest thing I saw was when someone was walking their dogs and were coming back. Another person stopped them to say hi and pet the dogs. This other dog down the hall was inside his little fenced off area and got so jealous he charged the fence and broke through and ran over to get in on the petting action. Jail break!! lol

Oh yeah and haven't heard from stalker girl in over a week. So, I'm sticking with my assessment that she's just a crazy stalker minus the crush.

In other news Kaylee was not feeling well Friday Had to leave her at the vet's over night to get IV fluids. She had high chloride and sodium numbers. They're not really sure what caused it yet. They got her numbers back to normal and let me take her home saturday morning and she's acting fine since. They're going to do a culture to figure out if it's an infection. Otherwise they want me to take her to a specialist. Good thing I'm making more money at the new job. Ugh.

Pets other than dogs need manager approval and even dogs can get vetoed. I'm pretty sure I could never keep kaylee in my area anyway. Not without a floor to ceiling cage.

That's one of the things I don't get about it. What kind of dog wants to be stuck in like 6x6 area all day long? I just noticed today that this one down the hall a little just jams his nose under the cube wall and stares at people walking around all day. Poor dog.

I'd totally dig on a "bring your dog to work" type place. 'Cept I don't have a dog. and I'd only like to see well-behaved dogs and truth is while everyone thinks their dog is well-behaved, most are not.

Going to work would be MUCH better than staying home alone, especially for crated dogs. Dogs usually want to be with their people, even if that means in a cube or office. Heck, Oz would love it if he could come with me. When I wasn't working, he spent most of his day glued to my side.
