I forgot to post it till today, but a few days ago I heard the movie/TV commentor on NPR's Fresh Air (he comes on at the end of the show to do reviews) mention Joss Whedon, and list all three shows (Buffy, Angel, AND Firefly).

Score one more mention for Firefly on NPR!

Yeah, I heard that too. He was talking about some new show and said that the creator would have three quality shows on the air simultaneously. Then he mentioned that only a few have done that, notably Joss Whedon, who in 2002 had Buffy, Angel, and Firefly all on the air at the same time.

'course not they're all NOT. :(

Glad for the mention, but I doubt NPR would want MUCH more said about Firefly. Mal fought for the Independents, hates Governments, ( at least stong, central ones) and such. With out getting TOO political, NPR isn't exactly the voice of those w/ a like mind to our fearless Capt. Tightpants.

and, oh, btw.... you! FOX T.V.!!!

FOX T.V's lineup.

You may or may not be right on the politics - and I'm not going there :)

BUT I'd like to point out that NPR's movie/tv critics really seemed to like the show - they gave it some good mention at various times.

And by the way, I don't really LIKE Fresh Air that much - it's not one of my favorite shows - but I sure was glad Joss was held up as an example of someone capable of much juggling (geese, perhaps?).

Political views aside, I think it's safe to say that Joss's work is impressive. Period.

That's all I got to say about that.

NPR's given "Firefly" it's props many times. NPR is pretty much the only radio I listen to these days. Not that it's all that great, but commercial radio has been in a serious decline for the last several years.

As far as the politics go, I'm a Libertarian, with somewhat more patience with bleeding heart liberals than with facist bible thumpers. So I wade throught the leftist slant of NPR because its really the only radio that actually goes into some depth on issues of interest. Even with the liberal bias their journalism is of high enough quality that you can get both sides of the issue. Of course, I'm usually on the third 'side'.

You're most welcome!

I'm always ready and waiting to say what shouldn't really be mentioned. I'm great fun at parties. Funny, I don't get invited to many though.

You're not the only Libertarian I know who listens to NPR - one of my co-workers is a strident Libertarian who admits to enjoying NPR :)

I don't know what it is that struck the NPR reviewers' minds about Firefly way back when the show was on (was it that long ago?), but they sure seemed to like it. Oh, yeah! It's because EVERYONE likes the show except Fox execs :)
