Been pretty good. How have you been??
Quote:

What have you been up to?

Mostly, school. I quit my terrible job to become a full-time government-supported student of teh science. It's very interesting and I enjoy it a lot.

How has life been treating you?

Life has been treating me pretty well. I've been having primarily good moods and long stretches of grueling learny-type stuff. I feel like I may have found a purpose in life, which I like :)

Tell me, TELLMENOW! Y'know, if you wanna. Totally up to you. ^^

Tell me of your life and how it's been treating you?

At least the traffic isn't bad at 6:00 a.m. when I get on the road. Coming home, it's a different matter.

I did manage to get 24 kids signed up for Book Club at Freshman Orientation. :) Whooo hooo! Half of them are boys, too.

I've been wandering through the George R.R. Martin world this summer. Early this morning I finished the last "Song of Ice and Fire" book, "A Dance With Dragons". I've spent seven weeks in Westeros and now it's over and I have to wait probably two whole years to find out what happens next! Truly - I've been rattling around the house today having withdrawal symptoms. I hate Cersi! I adore Tyrion! I'm totally vexed about Jon! Danyeries needs to get the hell out of Meereen!

And when, oh when, is HBO releasing the DVD version of Game of Thrones??? I sure hope they aren't making us wait until Christmas!

(yawn)

Okay. I survived last week. I'm not sure why but it's like a month's worth of crap jumped me all at once.

Back to classes tomorrow! I discovered that the paper I thought I had was either a)gone or b)still packed away somewhere terribly clever, so I had to run out for that so I can take notes tomorrow. It was on sale pretty cheaply so I picked up what will hopefully take me through Spring semester too.

I'm getting kind of excited about the Organic Chemistry Lab.. we do something with orange peels, and obtain caffeine from tea (not by drinking it..), and identify an unknown substance at the end. There's a couple other labs that sound pretty nifty too. Orgo 2's lab involves making aspirin and synthesizing the smell of bananas. If I could try for "ripe peaches" I would totally geek out over that one.

We just got a little bit of rain today where I am, so we're fine.. not even soggy, really.

I'm enjoying a glass of wine and trying to finish off a very thick book before tomorrow.

*sighs* I almost feel like we should have a "Those left behind" thread for everyone who can't go to D*C. I'm sad I have to spend the weekend doing stupid homework instead of overstimulating the geek center of my brain.

I'd say that studying instead of having way more fun than is good for you would tip you into the realm of "ubergeeking out", technically.

I say this mostly to make myself feel better about doing the same thing you are, but with family visiting from out of town added into the mix so I get a little break.

Oh, no not at all. You see, studying is the realm of "nerds" while conventions and nitpicking science fiction shows is the realm of the "geek." It's a fine but important distinction

*sigh* Unfortunately, I don't think the feds are going to start looking any more kindly at spending school loans on vacations by next year. Might be awhile before I can go again, unless I win/inherit a pile of money. Sad me.

Rose- I hate to be the voice of evil ( no wait I don't hate that at all) but they don't really give a flying ****bleep*** what you spend it on so long as you pay it back. I know people who used it for living expenses, paid off car loans, etc. So long as you pay your tuition and re-pay your loan you're pretty much good to go:)

Okay, yeah, but 1) living and transportation expenses are contractually acceptable ways to spend educational grants and loans, and 2) living on educational grants and loans means I don't really have the money to spare unless I don't actually take classes

Indeed we must!

The next time the NYS lottery gets up to over $300 million with Powerball I'll buy a ticket IF someone else picks the numbers 'cause I never seem to get those quite right...

sigh.
