Ni Hao-dy JO...Ok for the short or would you prefer the long?

I'm a 30-something domestic goddess in Indiana, you?

I had a 92 New Yorker...I miss the plushy-plushy-ness of it. Wish I still had it...

If you wanna try reforming a language, can I reccomend Gaelic?? All the vowels give me a headache... I've always thought the English language could benefit by just getting rid of lowercase letters...They spend sooooooo much time on that in school, and when you have a kid that is dyspraxic (so we think) It's really frustrating for everyone concerned. Uppercase letters(except J) all go the same way >> I think it would be easier for immigrants, other "different" learners too. The only downside is people wouldn't be able to scream in all caps anymore....Wait, what's the downside again??

Welcome to the 'Verse. All praise Haken, god of the interwebs. Btw, I think this site has been here about nine years-not too long after the series played originally but I don't actually know since I didn't get here until the movie came out. I missed all the fun. Just hang out here 'cause I can. I would love SOME BOOKS! So I wait.......

What way would you like it back? Regular movie, animation, Tv?

A Wish a chara,

Are you trying to reform Irish Gaelic (usually just called Irish) or Scottish Gaelic? I think the vowels there are the least of the difficulties in those languages. An Gaeilge Abu!!!!!!!!!!!! That doesn't solve any of the problems with An Bearla (English) that you mentioned, I'm afraid your train of thought is confusing me tonight. Hopefully different learning/teaching techniques will help your little one with her letters though.

Ni Haody Joe! I've been a Browncoat since late 2007, tarnation its been four years? But I didn't come here until late Jan of this year, I've been here for nine months, that 's long enough to have a baby, ug. My good friend turned me on to this site, I'd said no before, said I didn't have time, but then I got suckered in. :) By the way there are actually four comic books, Better Days, Those Left Behind, Floatout and the newest, The Shepherd's Tale. So if you only have three then you can get the fourth.

I keep the verse going by reading and reviewing fanfic prolifically on fanfiction.net, talking to Browncoats here on this site, and participating in my local browncoat chapter. I love new folk!

Welcome to the party. Fresh bao over there, and a jug of inter-engine brew on ice. It's better cold, really cold.

I've been here since summer of '06 and I'm noob compared to some of these folks.

This site is so old-- How old is it, Johnny?-- it was around before Firefly- If I remember the story right, it was an Andromeda fansite, then Haken became a FFFan and converted it. Haken is the webmaster, I guess you'd call him, wrote most of the original code, pays the bills, and is coding the v.2 beta site.

We used to have a fairly well disorganized welcoming committee, and they'd present newcomers with a virtual Browncoat of their very own. I don't have a key to the locker , but if none of them shows up in a day or so, we'll get together with Jayne and see if we can blow the locker open. " Sure wish we had some GRENADES about now, don'tcha think?"

Enjoy the site, but keep yer guard up if you venture into the jungle of RWED. Here there be tygers.

Yeah, if you're overly sensative you might want to avoid RWED, but you're of a reasonably strong constitution then you'll fair allright. I'm a total wuss but I'm still alive in there, people aren't as bad as you'd think. When they're mean you just tell them "Same to you, with knobs on". I've still not been run out on a rail so I think its safe enough as long as you're prepared.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Welcome aboard the best boat in the 'verse.

Haken originally had a site for Andromeda, then switched it to Firefly after seeing a rough cut of the pilot sometime in the spring of '02, April I believe. Older than the official FOX site in point of fact. Even though I watched the show during its original broadcasts, I didn't sign up here until Jan. '04 after the DVDs came out.

I want a full new series, then another couple of movies, but I'd settle for a mini-series on Syfy.

JO iz fine, Wishimay.

I'm a jent uv 51, single in IL Noeez.

Hadnt heard uv dyspraxia till now. Motor learning problem.

Nooalf iz monocase. Aside frum the obvious learning advantage, it also makes it eazy to type on todayz keyboardz.

The 92 New Yorker iz a fine new fangled vehicle. My dad had a 93 Concorde. Lost hiz lisens in 09 aqnd gave it to me, but I wuz unable to get it running well enuff to make the trip up frum Florida. Only got 400 for it.

The forum software seemz a mite buggy. I'll keep my posts short to reduce the lost work frustration factor.

There are 2 incarnations of Fireflyfans.net, if you are on a blue screen, that is the older version. I forget which one I'm in and try to post from the blue screen, but it always eats my post(but it still notifys anyway). The second is Fireflyfans.net beta(red screen) site, more updated. Both have chat rooms attached and different peoples in both. Haken runs the sites, but he's trapped in the midst of family problems, so we try not to bother him too much these days...
We hold 'till he gets back!!

Funny, we tried to drive our New Yorker TO Fla.(to get another car) and the boots and joints went wobbeldy on the way down...$400 is doing good, we gave ours away(to a good cause though)

Got a favorite scene or line?

Oh, and you can call me Wishy(I think it's short fer wishywashy (I tend to change thread subjects if nobody's posted at 'em)

Welcome #46443 to sign on to our shiny ship.
I believe someone has already mentioned the fresh bao and inter-engine wine, but the traditional Ramp Greeting features your very own jug of Mudder's Milk and a punnet of strawberries.
FollowMal or someone had the key to that coat locker. We'll have to break in if she doesn't show up.
Stow your luggage down here, pick up linen for a bunk, settle in and we'll see you in the galley for chow - no need to dress.
Buffet will be ready for questioning as soon as we can fire up the chafing dish for the hot cheese. Shimmerwine fountain is at the after end of the table. Ice-planets are in the cooler, but we'll be down to vanilla and Late Night Snack until I make a supply run when next we're standing off Persephone or Ariel.

There is a bug somewhere in the messaging software, we've all been bitten by it one time or another. It seems if you take too long ( too many minutes) to write a message or reply, it gets lost somehow, somewhere. At least that is the most common form of it. So if you compose a really brilliant, long and perfectly detailed reply to something, best do it offline in Notepad or such, then post it by cut & paste. Dunno if it's a problem on v2.0 or not, I still use the old one. But it's a classic case of if ya don't save it, be sure it isn't too valuable to lose.

RionaEire, youre the authentic article I take it. Iznt Gaelic getting rather rare?

Its odd how little Gaelic made it into English, considering the early & continuous proximity.

I wonder how well Nooalf coverz it.

Iz 'Ni Haody' frum Firefly?

I'll order Floatout tonite!

谢谢 , Wishy. (Copied & pasted the Manderin version uv 'thank you'. It tranzlates to 'thank thank')

I've been told that Chinese is dependent on tone rather than fonemez. But now I'm wondering if maybe thats not entirely true.

John Huntsman was on The Colbert Report this week and he spoke a little chinese and it sounded like there wuz quite a lot uv fonetic variety.

Anybody know a website that haz chinese tranzlation with sound? It may be that it can be spelled with Nooalf.

FIREFLYPASSENGER

Welcome Home Joe!

This was my first Firefly board. I lurked in 2002 and signed up in 2003. If you look on the back of the Documentary DVD cover I am the last pic wearing orange. I was lucky enugh to be on the set of Serenity, scene selection 4 after Jayne says,"Let's be bad guys." Pause it and do a frame by frame. The red head as Mal and Zoe enter is me.

There are 3 Firefly companions Still Flying is the most recent. There are 4 comic books. Better Days Vol 2. has a story by Patton Oswalt about Wash called Float Out.

I recommend attending conventions to meet the cast. Fortunately they're all working so less and less are doing conventions but they do when they can.

We have the best cast in the 'verse.

A Joe a chara,
I'm afraid I'm not the genuine article because it is only my inner being that is Irish. I'm American, was born in the same city I live in, but I've loved all things Irish since I was 12 and am a trad singer, meaning I sing Irish songs. I would love to be able to speak Irish but I'm dreadful at learning languages, vocabulary and stock phrases are okay but once I hit grammer I hit a wall. I had to take Spanish in high school and university and don't remember much of it, even though that wasn't so very long ago. I'd be better with Irish if I had some handsome man living next door to teach me, :)) for now though I can say a few things which is better than nothing. There are still people in Eire who speak good Irish. Kids have to do it in school but its not really a serious part of the coriculum. And so most people don't have a good knowledge of it. There are areas, in the south and west and up Donegal way where it is spoken more, fortunately.

Like Mandarin, hubbs and I can only speak enough Gaelic to really piss someone off in it

We used ta sit and listen to the Celtic radio hour, but not in years since hubbs' schedule changed... but we memorised enough to make a night in a pub alot of fun.

One of our favorites...

I've run into several people FROM Ireland who didn't speak a word of Gaelic

Another fun one we like...
