I know my bro isn't here probably at all anymore and probably very seldom visits 76 anymore even, but I know he loves the movement to this day. He's just too busy trying to balance work with married life and owning a dog... not to mention trying to get the only other one who matters to agree that it would be a good idea to give his brother a niece or nephew to spoil the out of :)

I wonder how ridiculous that full sized Brown Coat will look on them when they're only 3 years old.

They'll grow into it. And if they don't, then they were never meant to be a Browncoat.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

It was interesting as always, but the manager, Chad, knows about us as he has been there for years and even checked out Firefly and enjoyed it. Andrea (Andy) our waitress promised to give the show a look based on our enthusiasm and Chad's word.

The 76th does indeed live on, and proudly I might add. Doc is still around, though he's been flyin' under the radar of late. Tristan was our C.O., but retired to handle some things life threw his way, but after some time away has re-enlisted as a private because he just can't stay away.

Well, our "state of the union" is that we're still flyin'! Certainly the fact that a sequel never happened and the economy being what it has been the past few years has impacted enlistment and participation at cons and events, it has not done us in. We marched at Dragon Con last year and will continue to do so.

Our message board is a bit slow right now, but it always is after the holidays. Things will pick up a bit as they do when Spring comes and cons start to pick up again. We still get new recruits, though we've had a pesky busted link that was causin' some headaches with applications getting through. It's all fixed now.

I think you should proudly wear it on any outer wear you choose. I have one on a vest I wear, another on a ball cap, and one on a wind breaker. I also have my shiny unit crest badges I wear on the lapels of jackets, polo shirts at work, and wherever I'm of a mind to. Don't much matter what you were it on, or where you choose to display it, so long as you're flyin' the colors.

Not so much, no. Tristan has actually made a small uniform for his nephew, course he ain't so small any more. Like you said they'll grow into it eventually.

Hey BrownCoat1,

Like I said before, great to see it still going. Even if another movie never gets made or the TV show never picks up again, I believe it's a way of life, and not just a mindless fanbase (like I admit I was part of with Arrested Developoment, which may get a second run thanks to Netflix)

I've never met Doc before, but I have had several great conversations with Tristan via MySpace or here over the years. From what I know personally and what I've heard from my bro, he lives probably the most Mal-like existence of anyone I know. That's not to say at all that life is easy for him, but he does what he wants to do and nary a moment goes by when he isn't being productive in some capacity.

Good to see they're both still involved.

Glad to see that you're still marching too. In a perfect world, you'd have enough Browncoats to go 10-1 against the storm troopers, but really, as long as a march is still going on.... they can't hit shit with their laser pistols anyways. I guess, from one of the new crappy Star Wars movies, they were all cloned off of Jango Fett.....

But, apparently, most of those were clones of clones of clones

Right?

I don't know where to put the patch......

I don't wear hats :). I wore a baseball cap nearly 24/7 when I was a kid, but when you grow up and have a full head of hair at 32 that the girls at the haircut place call other girls over to run their hair through, why cover up one of my best assets, I say. Half of my friends are bald or growing a nice little bald spot on the back of their heads now lol.

I have a lot of coats, but none of them are anywhere close to a military style type coat.

I have a lot of "work" clothes that are covered in paint and other materials that never wash out, and I have some really nice sweaters and pants that I don't want to throw in the work pile by putting a patch on them.

I'll figure something out. In the mean time, I have the patch proudly displayed at home anyways.

Yup... :) BWtP is my bro! I'm surprised you even knew to ask that. I had a few really paranoid years there and I did my best to distance myself from him on FFF while posting in the RWED and driving myself crazy.

Yup..... Tristan would be an awesome uncle to have. I can't create anything textile-wise at all. My only advice would be if you were just staying at home and working on the house, that's when you wear the old socks with holes in them. Just make sure if you go out, you're wearing new socks and undies, just in case you don't make it home for any reason. :)

We've all got our strengths and weaknesses. When BWtP finally has a son or daughter, I'll do just like our own uncle did and take them fishing and buy them silver dollars on their birthday and Christmas.

And, assuming they'll listen, I'll teach them how to balance their checkbooks and create a budget, so they don't find themselves in the position that 90% of us or more find ourselves in today.

Keep flyin'

I figure at this point no sequels or revival of the series is coming. We have the comics, and maybe one day a webseries of some sort or another might materialize, but I am ok with that. It was a bright, beautiful flame that went out all too soon, but from it sprung many wonderful things, the 76th included.

It is a way of life, one I have fully embraced from the moment I first saw the show on tv. Like so many others, I heard the message loud and clear that Joss was sending.

Doc's a solid guy, but he has been rather quiet of late.

Tristan is a great guy. Over the years we have become great friends and even "officially" adopted one another as brothers. Given the state of things I agree he lives a rather Mal-like existence, one I envy. He is extremely talented and creative, and his armoury skills leave me standing in awe like a slack jawed ape.

We have many times dreamed of the day that 76th uniforms would outnumber Stormtroopers in the parade, but unfortunately reality has sunk in and now we are content to just be a presence at the parade each year.

You are right that Stormtroopers can't hit the broadside of a Star Destroyer with their blasters. We have all laughed that in a fight the 76th would carry the day with our tenacity and ability to put rounds on target.

I don't wear my caps all that often. Like you I have a head full of hair that I am proud of and get compliments on from the ladies at the barber shop. For the most part my 76th cap sits in the back window of my car, but it does so proudly.

Coats don't necessarily need to be "military" in appearance to bear the 76th patch. I understand if it is a personal preference, but my wind breaker couldn't be further from military and I wear one on it.

Just glad to know you display yours proudly at home.

I knew to ask because BWtP and Tristan were the two people instrumental in the organization of the 76th. BWtP is missed around here and over at the 76th board, but I know that his being married and focusing on that chapter of his life is important to him and we wish him all the best. He will always be part of the "family".

I understand putting distance between yourself and messageboards at times. Done it myself a few times when things didn't go smoothly for one reason or another. Sometimes walking away is better than fighting a losing battle.

Oh.... there will be sequels/prequels/revivals in our lifetimes... even if we're 60 when it happens.

Shaft the movie, Startsky and Hutch the movie, Thundercats 2011 (which is awesome, by the way), Stepford Wives the movie, I Dream of Jenie the movie, The Mod Squad the movie, Car 54 Where are You? the movie.....

Even if it doesn't get reviatalized when we want it to with the characters we want it to, the suits in the future would be retarded not to cash in on a great story that was never finished properly.

Hehe.... Tristan is pretty awesome. Maybe one day I can fix up the condemned shack on his otherwise awesome property for a suit of Mithril armor and a promise to hide me in the basement if the FEDs ever come looking, al'la Inglorious Basterds.

Storm troopers are stupid. At best, they shoot for a paycheck, at worst, they do it because their programmed biological imperative commands them to.

My thought is that the reason they never hit what they supposedly aim at is because their heart isn't in it. What's in it for them? When you're a soulless monstrosity that was created from a test tube, and your creator built you one DNA block at a time with the only intention of making you kill, where's the incentive to win?

My theory is the Storm Troopers are so bad at what they do because it's a collective effort to give the Emperor a big "F U"

Ladies at the........ "Barber Shop"?????

She's a man, baby!!!!

lol

Yeah, no spiral pole there. I go to what could be referred to as a "salon". I usually wait until my mane is getting pretty shaggy, but there's nothing like the feeling of a 22 year old girl giving your head a massage in the sink before the cut, and who better to know how your hair would best attract other women today than a 22 year old goddess?

Really though, my favorite girl (as far as how my hair looks afterwards) is nearly 40, but I do love my time with Lisa when she's not around.

What do you think the chances of a self-made 32 year old that will always live comfortably but never be "rich" is with a 22 year old vision of perfection that might not even realize that she is one?

I'll figure out a way to make the patch work.

In the mean time, the 76 lives on in this home anyhow.

I'm not sure what your 76 name was, but it's cool that you knew that about my bro. I know they gave their blood sweat and tears to the formation of the group. That's why I'm really excited to see that it lives on without his, or possibly both of their involvement.

F__K Star Wars. They'll always have a mindless fan base. Every Browncoat that shines on is worth 100 of those mindless drones.

I distanced myself from him for his own benefit. He had enough drama on his threads from opinionated people while he was involved. No sense in dragging my own demons into it. That's what the RWED is for, right?

Awesome uncle.... check.

Awesome dad/husband..... that is still to be debated. If you ask anyone in my family, they'll only give you biased half truths....

Regardless of my own theoretical offspring, my nephews and nieces are going to definitely have a leg up in this world with me as their uncle. :)

Later,
~6

Oh well. Kinda fun to use the snowblower a second time. I'm just getting the hang of it. Pretty cool looking at the huge driveway after it's done and imagining how much my back would be hurting without it.

snowblowers are the BOMB! I grew up outside of Buffalo, NY and driveway shoveling has contributed to my bad back, I'm sure of it. Of course the worst was when, after finishing the back-breaking shoveling to the street, a huge snowplow would arrive pushing ANOTHER several feet of hard, packed snow across the drive... Here we don't have those big-ass snows; but ice storms are always a possibility.
