FYI, I just got a replica that shall go unnamed, and it was made of that crap Polystone (basically resin watered down heavily with powered limestone), and it was on a shelf where a Hot Wheels Back to the Future car rolled off & grazed it & SMASH!!!! Fortunately, my modeling skillz came in handy to repair it, but OMBuddha, what CRAP Polystone is!!!
Never, NEVER again will I purchase anything made of that ruttin' stuff.

Sorry China, that's a FAIL.

I'm sorry, but you must have gotten a crappy polystone model. I've gotten a few in the past and they are amazing.

I'd see if you could get your money back.

My friend Chris got a 'replica that shall not be named' and said that it has "Bent parts and loose parts that feel like they're about to fall off". Now I'm nervous about getting one.

No. I'M sorry, but polystone SUCKS. It's like model osteoporosis. Good if you don't TOUCH it... but....
Can't I JUST pay more for a GOOD thing????
If it HAS to be made in China, can't it be less breakable than a Christmas ornament??

I guess I'm living in the past.

The ones I've gotten have taken abuse much better than pure resin ones I have. And it's actually more expensive than a resin model. At least the stuff I've gotten has been.

Either way, I wouldn't get anything from China to begin with, unless its insanely cheap or you don't mind going through the hassle to get your money back.

Just a reminder, the new Mal pistol will also be made of polystone,
so buy it only if you want it as a display piece.
It will not stand up to costuming or rough handling.

Yes, the new QMx BDM Serenity Mal pistol is going to be made from polystone with a metal wash.
It will look beautiful in a display case,
but it will most likely not be suitable for costuming or rough handling.
So, look at all the pretties,
but don't be droppin' it!

I know two people that wore the QMx 'stunt' Mal as costume sidearms and both are broken. Not for play, only display.

Thanks Chris. Since the 'Throne of the Slayer' model went out of production(Only 750 were made!) I have been hunting one down. Especially since Willow has come out, and Faith very soon. Sadly on E-BAy Buffy goes for roughly $1,000. It is 18" high, but I'm thinking a thousand bucks for a Polystone statue that may shatter has me a little leery. Thanks for your input on Polystone. I'm not that interested anymore.

Hey Oppyh, I gotta say those statues are gorgeously sculpted. I also have to differentiate 'twixt "statues" & "replicas."
A replica like a gun or a spaceship just *BEGS* to be held... played wit- er... EXAMINED closely with accompanying tactile sensation.
Aimed or flown.
Turns out I frown upon Polystone for this.
BUT- a statue that will never really be TOUCHED, just looked at from various angles, is a bit different. I could deal with Polystone for that. As long as it came intact in the box, I'd put it in a glass or plastic case & no prob.
Just sayin.

BTW, I got this- not actually a statue, but I'm treating it as such-

Yeah, maybe if I pay a thousand bucks for something(Damn Sideshow for only making it limited to 750!) I'll probably put it in a display case anyway.

At any rate I'm still not wild about the aftermarket price for Buffy, but the Willow, and Faith statue have made it difficult not to hunt it down.

They sure did. I think Buffy looks great, but the Willow just gets 'pass' grade from me(especially cuz the goofy pose). Faith looks pretty phenomenal.

BTW I have been looking for a full set of Watchmen Vinyl banners to display in my 'toy/ movie room' but they are HUGE!

Yup, the detail is uncanny.

Thats why it sucks to collect things currently. There are a million different things to choose from, and most are pretty amazing. From a premium Indiana Jones statue, to a cool looking Trinity bust. There are just too many cool things out there.

Well, I can MAKE most of what I really want, but I'm not so good at sculpting faces.
So that's one area that I really have to buy it to have it.
This is probably my favourite:

Got him loose for $25!!!

She's darker than I imagined. You have to set her in pretty good lighting to see contrast in the coloring. The windows aren't dark, so the cockpit looks flat. She looks 'boarded up' from the inside. The overall shape and little details are fine, but there's something soulless or dingy about the model.

It doesn't help that one of the heat exchangers is broken and she's bent out of true in places.

While I can certainly appreciate the frustration of buying a model or statue, and having it arrive broken - I have to say, pieces falling off, and being a little bend off center feels fairly appropriate for Serenity.

"Goram it kid, let's frak this thing and go home! Engage!"

I used to collect small figurines (frog, owl, elephant). I have a couple of dogs for Feng Shui.
Mostly, I just collect too many computer files and have a serious storage problem.
