Taken to watching stuff on a Kindle Fire at sleepy-time lately. Trolling NetFlix a few days ago, I see Firefly episodes. Never heard of it, and I'm not exactly a media hermit. So I watch one episode. Next night, another. WHAT? This is amazing...how did I miss this? Never even heard of it before. How it could get cancelled? On the other hand, being short lived makes it more special in a way.

You, my friend, have discovered something wonderful that others have found as well. Some folks found Firefly only after having seen the movie Serenity, never knowing etc.....

To be quite honest, a certain major broadcast network was reluctant to provide a decent time slot and sufficient ad support. Hence, poor ratings and the eventual cancellation. It's like being aboard Titanic and turning into the iceberg, then crying wolf.

The major network called it a "disaster"? Add a little flavoring: showing episodes out of sequence, and voila!

No more running. I aim to misbehave.

Are the episodes in the correct sequence on the DVD's? What is the "official" correct sequence?

Yes, the episodes are in the correct order on the DVD and Blueray!

They originally did not air the Pilot episode "Serenity" first. I think they aired "Train Job" first, and there was a pre-empting and by then most that did want to watch were completely confused...

Yes, they are in the correct order on the DVD's...

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

The DVDs, Netflix and Hulu all have the episodes in the correct viewing order, but for some reason IMDb.com insists on the broadcast order.

Same here. I discovered it on Hulu a few years back, and it blew me away. I still watch it now and then, and it doesn't get old.
10 years later, it's still picking up new fans.

Depending on where you live, you may be able to see Serenity in a movie theatre this summer. Every year cities around the world show Serenity to raise money for Joss Whedon's favourite charity, Equality Now. There is usually a shindig accompanying the screening as well as costume contests, auctions, raffles, live music - every place does it a little differently. You can check out the list of who is signed up already at

Welcome aboard our shiny ship, ARAZ! Mousie says you're #46788 to sign on.
Someone should be along shortly to issue you a virtual one-size-fits-all browncoat. I'm in charge of making sure you get a punnet of strawberries and your own personal jug of Mudder's Milk.
Stash your stuff in a cargo cage and come on up to the galley for the questioning of the buffet. We've just laid out fresh bao, wife soup, mangos, hot cheese...shimmerwine is in the fountain at the aft end of the table, and be careful not to put your feet under there. Something's alive, we are sure.

Haha! That's how I felt like 6 years ago... although my bro and old man were telling me to watch it.

I was sleeping on the couch in me and my bro's 2bed 2bath apartment one day and woke up to Christina Hendricks on my bigscreen TV and I thought she was Jessica Alba in my reverie. I just said "DAMN She's Fine!" and my bro just laughed. I watched the rest of the ep and I was hooked. I've probably seen the whole series 3 or 4 times since then.

Just like Dollhouse, it didn't get the END it deserved. Maybe that makes it special, like Kurt Kobain or Eddie Valance......

All I can say is that there should have been about 3 more seasons of episodes before the Finale in the Serenity movie, and that the last 2 or 3 episodes of Dollhouse were so awesome that it's a sin that there wasn't a few more seasons spun off of that new direction in the future.

At least both of them had satisfactory ends, even if there was so much more potential.

Nothing like the huge buttraping we all took when we invested 2 years in the equally awesome Sarah Connor Chronicles only to have the most awesome episode of the series be a cliffhanger only to find that it wasn't renewed.

Welcome friend

Posts like yours makes me certain that Firefly will come again in Tv life. Unfortunately the old crew will be very old to play but lets hope that Joss will be there. BSG made it after 30 years !!!!
