Hi guys I am currently doing research into Firefly for a presentation I have to give in one of my university classes. I was wondering if some people could help me out ny answering a few questions for me, thanks

1. How did you first come accross firefly? 2. What is your fav episode? 3. Who is your fav character? 4. What about the show did you like the most?

Ahh glad it finally worked out for ya! And another Awesome Aussie, great! RiverTam1 in chat is a talented young Aussie, and we get lots of others here, time to time... To answer yer questions... 1. I was watching "The Train Job" when they re-ran it on TV, and I was at the movie rental place the next day and saw the whole series and found out there was a movie coming out the next day, and I've been here ever since. I think it was Kaylee I saw first, and I thought "There's a gal in a jumper fixing a spaceship and they're doin WHAT to a train??" Ok that's right up my alley!! 2. At this point I really coundn't pick a favorite, they are all like a comfortable pair of jeans. If I had ta, maybe "Shindig" 3. Again, I feel like I relate to different ones at different times. If I have to...Nandi. Well, tonight anyway... 4. A future I could understand. I love Star Trek, but it always seemed off a bit...

While I have your attention, I'l hand out an fresh Virtual Browncoat :biggrin: for ya to wear as you're doing yer survey... Wouldn't want ya to get mistaken fer a Purplebelly, with all the asking questions and whatnot!!! :wink:

My husband regularly trolls Netflix for interesting Sci-Fi, and a few years ago he found Serenity among the streaming movies. We watched it and liked it, but had never heard of the TV show. The characters are rounded, complex, and compelling. The setting that combines future/space travel/high tech with the notion that things aren't perfect, the characters aren't perfect, and they have to work for it. It's just human beings doing what human beings do -- getting by and screwing up and occasionally getting it right. Very refreshing in a genre that tends toward either utopia or dystopia.

1. Saw the "girl in a box" commercial over the summer of '02 and thought "That might be interesting." Watched the first episode that Sept, didn't see the girl in a box and thought I had missed an episode. 2. Jaynestown 3. Wash 4. The chemistry between the cast. You could just tell they were enjoying themselves while making the show.

I saw the cameo of Nathan Fillion on The Guild last year. I didn´t know who he was, but was intrigued how the comments on the Guild site went nuts, including somebody who wrote, "OMG, Captain Tightpants". I googled the term "Captain Tightpants" and discovered the show.

1. I SAW THE COMMERCIAL. I REARRANGED MY WORK SCHEDULE SO I COULD SEE IT EACH WEEK. (I WORKED DOUBLE SHIFTS) 2. OUT OF GAS 3. LOVE THEM ALL, MAL'S COOL. 4. I LIKED THE WAY THET LOOKED OUT FOR EACH OTHER. IT WAS LIKE FAMILY. ALSO IT WAS A FUTURE THAT I COULD BELIEVE MIGHT COULD BE, IT WAS NOT TOO CLEAN AND PERFECT.

1. Caught Serenity (the movie) on SYFY just flipping channels one day.

2. If I have to pick just one it would be Jaynestown. Shinyness from everyone.

3. Can't pick, I love them all.

4. It was not about people saving the world, or universe, but just trying to survive day to day.

4. What about the show did you like the most? Characters and story. From the first episode I felt like I knew who they were and cared what happened to them. Some shows (...cough....Enterprise...) I watched for over a year, hoping to get caught up, and then realized I don't even know the names of the main characters, let alone care what happened to them.

My best friend and my dad said I'd like the charactors and story.

I don't have a favorite episode, I enjoy them all.

River and Simon are my favorite charactors.

I love the charactors and their connections and relationships with each other. Plus its super cool to see a Christian charactor who kicks arse (Shepherd Book)

If you haven't watched the show yourself I highly recommend it, its only 14 episodes so its not a huge time constraint.

Oh, and my dad had me watch the movie first, which was good because if I'd seen it last I'd have wanted to go destroy something, I would have been so angry, I don't prefer the movie in case you haven't guessed.

I assume you're my pal until you let me know otherwise.

1. How did you first come accross firefly? I started watching it from the very beginning when it first aired on Fox nigh on ten years ago, back in college. I had seen commercials for it, and remembered Gina Torres from Hercules and Cleopatra 2525 (don't judge me), and was excited to check out a true space western.

2. What is your fav episode? Wow, hard question! I'm going to say "Out of Gas" because I loved seeing how various characters came to Serenity.

3. Who is your fav character? They are all so excellent in their own ways! I'll go with Kaylee for her ability to see good in any situation.

4. What about the show did you like the most? It may sound simple, but I loved the concept of combining horses and spaceships :-) As the show continued, I was intrigued by the interplay between the characters, the dialog, and the mysteries surrounding River, Book's past, Inara, the Reavers, etc. I also liked the darker elements of the show.

4. The wonderful mix of Western with Sci-fi and added Chinese swearing. Plus the perfectly cast crew members.

1. How did you first come across Firefly? I was already a Joss Whedon fan. I was looking at the new shows coming out in TV Guide magazine. I saw the article about Firefly and the pictures of the cast. I read space western and I thought dumb. By Joss Whedon, I thought OMG This is gonna be so good. :) I knew becasue it was by Joss Whedon that he can make anything be good. 2. What is your fav episode? My favortie is either Janynestown because they sing the Hero of Canton or Shindig because of the Ball and the duel.

3. Who is your fav character? Malcolm Reynolds, he is the Captain he has business to do and a crew to make sure are fed. When Mal returns the medicine in the Train Job and is talking to the Sheriff about having a choice. When Mal says, "Don't believe he does." Makes me go Aaaaaaawwwww. Then later he goes "Darn." and kicks Crow in the Engine because he needs to protect the crew. He makes the tough calls.

4. What about the show did you like the most? I'd have to say the ship and the music, the characters and their story, the way it all blends with the costumes and art direction. The show is a piece of art in TV form.
