TERRIBLETINK

My sister-in-law and her boyfriend told me and my husband that the show was awesome. We went out and bought it and I was hooked about 30 minutes into it. One of the best shows I've ever seen, if not the best.

AERONSTORM

I was looking up some Adam Baldwin stuff (whom I've watched since ID4 and the Cape) when I stumbled across a sci-fi show he did. I ended up here and read some fanfic and loved it. I bought the DVDs without ever seeing a single ep. I'm glad I did!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

It is great to see people are still discovering Firefly and becoming fans. Keep the stories coming.

Oh, and convert all the people you can. Tell them about Firefly. Show them your DVDs. Have viewing parties, whatever it takes.

They're so bad, they're laughable. Does anyone have vid clips of the original promos Fox did about the space hooker & the girl in the box?

WEERWOLF

I saw some pictures in Dreamwatch a year and a half ago or so, but that magazine didn't have an awful lot of info when compared to say Andromeda or Enterprise, and to be honest I thought it looked kinda tacky at first. And although DW itself kept fairly neutral, some of the viewers weren't realy nice to the show and the discussions seemed to be centered on 'nobody watched so it must be bad and lets blame Joss Whedon for it.'

Then I got my interest in the western genre renewed by watching Once upon a time in the West and realised that I really, really liked it (always had when I was a kid). So while I was browsing Amazon.co.uk they popped Firefly on my screen as a 'if you like this, you might like' advert, read the reviews (well, some of them...) and I went for it. I thought if it were just as good as Bordertown, I wouldn't mind paying for it.

And now I'm a total addict. My longest period without watching a single episode was two days. But that was cheating somewhat since I watched both Angel with Gina and Buffy with Nathan during those days.

I heard good things about the show and knew the whole thing about Fox cancelling it. I already knew the film was coming (so lucky for me I didn't go through all those nail biting months). Anyway I was looking around in a shop and saw the DVD box set. I had £30 burning a hole in my pocket and because I love Angel so much I just brought the set. Never regreted it.

I met Nathan, Jewel and Summer in Blackpool and decided that if they all loved the show so much, it had to be worth looking at. I bought the DVD set and was hooked immediately.

I think I was watching Farscape on Sci fi when an ad for Firefly came on (Firefly aired on Sci fi in the UK) they did actually advertise it a bit over here.

Well, my friend showed me an article about a show being done by Joss Whedon, which was a kinda sci-fi/western. I was slightly interested.
Coupla months later, self-same friend, gives me a DVD to borrow.
"What's this?"
"Well, you know that Joss Whedon sci-fi/western thing I told you about?"
"Yeahhh. (beat) This it?"
"Yep."
"Huh. I'll have to watch this later."
Got home, put in my DVD player, and by the time the opening credits of the pilot played I was hooked. (I watched them in order... unlike the airing.)

MAL: Just the ones I'm better than."

You can get most of them at Firefly: Proximity Sensor

http://www.have-dog.com/firefly/

Having never seen the episodes anywhere except on DVD (and being in the UK) I'd only heard about these trailers and not seen them.

They are... scary.

SEAFORT

I never saw the original airings because at the time there was no Fox in my area. We had one, but the station changed ownership and network alliation right before Firefly was too air (I still might have missed it, I knew it was coming but there wasn't lots of promos about it.)

About a year later we got Fox back, but by then Firefly was long gone and I had to wait for my very cool local downtown video store to rent the dvd's.

Worth the wait, but, dang. And of course I'd just as soon have the show still on the air.

SKYDANCE

I actually saw it when it was on the air. TV Guide ran a headline about "The Best Show You're Not Watching" or something like that.

I ended up seeing the Reaver episode. Without any character setup, it really stunk. I didn't know who these people were, I didn't know their relationship to the Alliance, there was nothing special about them being questioned, the Reavers weren't scary ... nothing. It was an interesting twist the way the guy turned into a Reaver, and I thought it a bright piece of insight into human nature, but it was the only stand-out thing about the episode.

Since it was on a Friday timeslot, I never got around to watching it again.

I actually became hooked when Scott Kurtz ( www.pvponline.com) mentioned that he had gotten the DVDs for his birthday, and he was blown away. He did a couple strips on it ( http://www.pvponline.com/archive.php3?archive=20040316) and I rented it from NetFlix.

Wow. I had my "Fireflygasm" ( http://www.fireflyfan.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=3455) halfway through the 2-hour pilot.

And now ... y'all are stuck with me. *grin*

ARAWAEN

I did see 'Train Job' but I didn't like it, it felt rushed, especially the character introductions. I didn't watch again until 'Out of Gas' which I liked. However, I never saw another episode while it was on the air.

A friend who knew I was a diehard Buffy and Angel fan got me the DVD set for Christmas and I fell in love part way through 'Serenity'. I even liked 'Train Job' after having seen the original pilot, though I still think it is a little rushed.

KINGOFTHEMUDDERS

I really wanted to like it when it first came out, but it did nothing for me. Then I saw Nathan and Gina on Buffy/Angel. SPACE aired Serenity and I was hooked. Unfortunately, I had night school the same night and time Firefly was airing, so when that ended, I got back to watching Firefly... the first episode I got to see??? Serenity. I said "screw this" and bought the boxset a few weeks later.

FIREFLEW

Well, I heard about it from somewhere - cannot remember where - and I downloaded Bushwhacked. I liked a lot of stuff about it, and I then saw Serenity (Part One) on the UK Sci-Fi channel - I thought it was great and forgot about it.

I'm in a HMV in Banbury and I see the boxset for £34 and I then bought it - I watched all of the episodes in one run

Oh, er...

I heard about it through a variety of sources, can't remember which one came first. I'm in the UK and I don't have satellite or anything, so the only chance I had of seeing Firefly was on DVD anyway.

I ordered it and watched it as soon as it arrived.

Just the first half of Serenity that I got to watch before I had to go out was enough to grab me. The next day I took it round to a friend's house to watch it (only Serenity though, and they may count as my first converts...) and I was hooked.

Couldn't wait to watch the rest.

Now... I've lent them to another friend. Have still only seen the eps once. I WANT TO SEE THEM AGAIN!!

INSANESPIKE

I originally didn't have Fox when they first started airing Firefly, due to some deal with our satellite provider. By the time we started getting it, they had long since cancelled it. But being such a fan of Buffy and Angel, I was really disappointed that I didn't get the chace to catch it. The day I went out to buy my season five of Buffy on DVD, I happened to see Firefly right on the shelf next to it. I figured what the hell, it's Joss Whedon so it has to be good, and picked it up too. I was hooked about 15 minutes into Serenity

MAUGWAI

I saw part of "Safe" between commercials during Farscape, the worst possible way to start watching this show. I was mildly interested, since it was Joss Whedon, so i watched again, right whent hey finally aired "Serenity." Farscape ended, so I tuned into Fox the next week to find no Firefly there. Then I forgot all about the show. I went to look up Buffy season 5 on DVD and read a recommendation from somebody who was really passionate about Firefly. For some reason that review just intilled in me the desire to have it. I drove around town for two hours to find the best price and debate whether or not I wanted to buy a show based solely on the little I'd seen and that one review. I actually went to Best Buy three times to debate it with myself. Glad I did.

Ooh, my friend Manda converted me (she's registered on this site somewhere...) and it's completely great because we talk/debate about Firefly all the time now. She's very Zoe-esque.

I am currently in the process of converting my stepsister!!!!
