Hope it helps, and welcome!

If you find it, could you add it to the writer's resource package, so it's easier to find later?

Surely I'm not the only newb this year!?

I'm eine AltVaart who has only seen ONE episode on TV, probably before it was cancelled, or maybe even a rerun before THAT was cancelled. Since then I have seen the entire series but have very poor retention so a lot of the details are lost to me. Plus I can't watch an episode on this tiny little screen for long.

I'm interested in writing some fan fiction. I've tried a couple of times on another site (nothing to do with Firefly) and got some encouragement. Except one story I've tried several different ways there has always run into canon counter battery fire and/or historical issues. I guess I'm more interested in writing 'a rousing story' than I am in a historically accurate/scientifically correct one. I might have better luck here since at first glance you folk are also interested in Rousing Stories, and hopefully really [Really]rilly, rilly[/Really] willing to suspend disbelief.

I have been interested in straight razors and straight razor shaving. And recently pretty much accepted that I have to give up the collecting (for all the razors I have I have yet to repair or restore one). But I still do enjoy the actual shaving.

In the last couple of years I have become interested in old guns ... and have learned I have to stop collecting - oops I mean accumulating - them. I have several repair/restore projects listed but damn few actually begun. One that has begun is converting a Warnant style Flobert .32 rimfire rifle to a left handed flintlock. With the old guns came the requirement to get into reloading. Today I took my .455 Webley out to the range and fired off 12 rounds each of two test loads. I have no load data for the powder I have and no powder for the load data I have. It makes for ... umm, ... [italic]interesting[/italic] days at the range.

My wife is an accomplished potter and an arts instructor. I got her to make an urn for me. I keep it on my side of the bed and check every morning that I am still on the outside of it :) (It was going to be my avatar here but Photoshop has stopped working for me and the image doesn't display properly when uploaded as an avatar.)

We get newbs all the time, but most don't post much. It's been twelve years, after all. I'm happy Haken keeps the ship flying. Also, this is like maybe the tenth one of these newbie threads I have done. We try to keep up with recent posts, but there are literally a couple million responses, so we don't sift through the old much.

I'm not much into suspending belief. In fact, the Star Trek/Wars without the BS is what drew me here. You might have better luck talking to Second in that department.

I was an optimist once, but these days I believe in the beauty and finality of reality over everything. Even my name is an ironic homage. I also used to be heavily into pottery, but I don't see the draw in art I once did. Plus, the dozens of cracking pots all over the house got old.
These days I'm in love with my extensive Corell collection. Only busted ONE in 15 years. Guess you can say I sold out, but a smart gal knows a better product and knows when she's beat.

Not trying to be contentious here though. Just chattin'.

On that note, welcome to the ship. Here's a fresh cleaned Browncoat. Trying on room is up the gangplank to the left, then you can head to the galley for some dubious spirits, or strawberries.

Hope that helps to suspend a bit of reality for you...

I have decided apart from a 13 year old girl in my sociology class that I teach and one science teacher at school I am the only other firefly fan in London!!

The science teacher has learnt some of the Chinese swearing so he is great. I knitted him a Jayne hat for Xmas. mark

Recently there was another UK Browncoat newbie, but I don't recall where or exactly when.
