Was in my bunk feeling a tad space-sick from the last adventure (foraging for Mudder's and strawberries) when I heard the rattle of hangers from the coat-locker. Got some more on the crew!
RESET (#47858) and TORTOISE (#47850) are the most recent arrivals to speak to us here on the ramp. (Must be some stowaways in between) Step up, claim your traditional Milk jug and punnet of berries from here atop the mule in its parking slot.
Stow your stuff and come up the scary expanded metal of the stairway and catwalk to the galley, where the buffet awaits your questioning. Mangos, pineapples, hot cheese, fresh bao, wife soup, we have it all. And shimmerwine in the fountain at the after end of the table. As always, watch your feet back there...
And there are ice-planets in many exotic flavors in the bottom shelf of the cooler. Turn in your sticks and strings when you're through.

just a little bumper-upper
Newbs and refugees stand forth, receive your traditional welcoming perks and, today only (cos I couldn't liberate very many undetected) a fresh, ripe Borosian phreep on a doily.

Go for it, Reset! :-)
Looking mighty shiny in that coat.
Don't forget to work out. We may need you for a foraging party after the next marathon.

Just another bumper-upper in case anyone needs a nice coat, a jug of Mudder's, a punnet of strawberries, or one of the occasional bonus items.

#47934, Manatee!! That's a big crew, even though we've had a few dropouts.
The coat will look great on you should you find yourself thermally challenged in a minor way.
Yep, that expanded metal brings back memories to me, too, but not of a carrier, more of a land-bound industrial thing. Can you hear the squeak-rattle it makes?
Hope the buffet is to your liking, and also the fresh shipment of ice-planets I'm bringing aboard in a few minutes. Good variety, plenty of hodgeberry and Borosian ginger (a couple of favorites), sweet-and-sour, exotic vanilla, that sort of thing. Check the cooler, bottom shelf.
Oh, and keep toes out from under the fountain end of the galley table.

Someone wanted the url of the old board?
As in http://forums.prospero.com/foxfirefly/start
Or something else?

As a child I was terrified of it - - made me think I was going to get grated like a cheese.

Then there was the time my mother ventured out onto a 2nd or 3rd story platform of the stuff in a skirt. I was up there too and I can guarantee you could see all the way through the structure. One hopes it was too dark inside the skirt to look up and discover something I knew for sure - - she wasn't wearing underwear.

Do you dribble the ice water through the metal?

Atop the Mule, which is parked near the upper end of the ramp, are a cooler full of jugs of Mudder's Milk and an array of baskets of strawberries. Everyone coming aboard is welcome to partake.
Next, you stash your stuff in one of the designated wheeled cages and keep a key.
Stop by the Virtual Browncoat Locker and let us issue you a perfectly fitted coat. Now you're looking shiny.
Next, freshen up (sorry the line's so long but after all there are by now over 47000 crew signed on!) and brave the airy-scary steps and catwalk up to the galley.
In the galley we maintain a buffet that you can question to your heart's (and stomach's) content: mangos, papayas, pineapples, bacon-wrapped oysters, 'tater salad, fresh bao, wife soup...most anything you want. The shimmerwine fountain is at the aft end of the table. Please keep your feet well away from the underside of the table at that point. Something seems to have been living under there for eight or so years, and it may be dangerous.

Oh, and don't forget to sign up for your turn at chores!

Last time you got your noobs all over my Forsaken chocolate hot tub. Do you know how hard that shit is to get out? Make sure the door to the pyre is locked before the noobs is let loose. It's worse than the damn llama's. A polite word in their ear about who a certain turnipy coat belongs too wouldn't go amiss. Collating data,as they say. Kthanxbi.

Pre-Edit: This is to be read in the jestful tone of our posts in the olden days. I'm truly sorry if I scared anyone. ROFL away:

Sweet Jebus, FMF. Cranky much? We're using my portable fumarole and not your pyre. Check among your alleged friends for chocolate-y smallclothes if you're looking for miscreants. And let's hear naught above a whisper about llamas, since I seem to remember widespread, across-the-boardish enthusiasm for the shaving of these gentle creatures at our last party. My big guy is still growing out the labyrinth with which he was decorated by some overly Muddered artist. He looks as if he'd been visited by aliens.

Feed not the trolls, scare not the noobs, and keep close track of your List status.

MAEMAELU Welcome as #48040 on the crew.

Join SAFEZOR here and we'll sign you on, handing over the traditional mug of Mudder's Milk and punnet of strawberries.
You're invited to stash your stuff in one of these here wheelie-cages, keep a key, and come up to the galley, stopping along the way at the virtual coat-locker to be issued your very own individual fits-all browncoat.
The buffet awaits your questioning, with fresh bao, wife soup, mangoes, hot cheese, and all the other delicacies we can manage aboard this shiny ship. The shimmerwine has just been replenished in the fountain at the aft end of the table and as always we remind you that your toes may be in danger if allowed to stray too far under the table back there.
Ice-planets are running a little low, but you'll find a few remarkable flavors still in the box - - cooler, bottom shelf.

>>Well here is the thread I've been looking for.

It sure is, and welcome aboard our shiny ship, WR_ORION. You're #48170 - - that's a lot of virtual coats taken from the locker and fitted to our newbies, but I must say you look mighty good in yours.

We like to hand out treats while you're here on the ramp: your own jug of Mudder's Milk and a punnet of the best strawberries in this sector of the 'Verae. Then stash your stuff in a rolly-cage, pocket the key, climb the airy stairs and meet some of the crew for the questioning of the buffet.

(Watch out for dripping icewater on your way up the stairs - - we've another newb who's showing the crew some tricks involving ice cubes, expanded metal surfaces, our moderate gravity, and the advantage of surprise)

Buffet's been re-stocked, the hot cheese warmed up, and more shimmerwine dumped into the fountain at the after end of the table. Watch your feet back there; the underspace may be inhabited and you'll end up in the infirmary getting shots and stitches.

For dessert, of course, an ice-planet! Choose your favorite flavor from the box in the bottom shelf of the cooler, or be brave and try something you've never heard of. It's all good.

Enjoy the company, and please join us in the captioning!

DOMOKUN1 #48182!! Welcome to the not-so-bumped newbie thread on our shiny ship. Too bad we can't sticky the post, but there you are. By now you've probably been Milked, Strawberried, and fitted with your own fits-all virtual browncoat, good in all weathers but a little heavy for swimming. We'll settle for offering fresh bao, good savory Wife Soup, more of that hot cheese, and a bye on chores for the week. If you're a good banana-nicker we could use your help at the buffet before the next rush of recruits shows up. And have an extra ice-planet on me. Persephonian Purpleberry is really good this week.
ZAC, we done did you on another thread while thanking you for not being the meanie who's trying to send our Jayne Hat knitting out past the Black.

LOL, DOMOKUN1 - - if you think you are being beaten up you should go back in time and sample Troll Country. Everyone -- well, all right, nearly everyone - - has gotten more mellow with the years, and many of the most ogreish types have drifted off into the Reaver Belt, there to be consumed or to join the crowd and start piercing their body parts and eating people.

We've had late-night wars here, and wild parties, the like of which you've never seen unless you've been shanghaied and ended up on my home planet, a place guaranteed to excite both delight and disgust.

It's where I get the ice-planets, usually.

But I digress...please enjoy your moments here. You will find some like-minded shipmates if you dig a little, put on your asbestos mask, try a thread here and there.

Thank you Sister! A little about myself. I'm 40 (roughly), live in West Sussex in the South of England with my wife, stepdaughter and 3 year old son, we both play with dinosaurs, RIP Wash. Umm, I saw Serenity several years ago with no clue what was going on, but watched Firefly on good ol' Netflix in about 2 days a few weeks ago.
A shiny moment happened last week; I was blethering on to my bemused wife about all things Firefly, with the zeal of a newly badged Browncoat. On the tv, in the background, we had The Big Bang Theory on, we're generally fans of the show but this was the first time we'd caught it in several months. As anyone reading this has probably guessed already, it was the ep with Nathan Fillion, cue squeeing. Just seemed like some sort of confirmation of the rightness of this whole thing, not that I needed any.

Good to be here.

Not including Done The Impossible? I would play for background music the 2 soundtrack CDs, for Firefly (Greg Edmonson) and Serenity (mostly Newman IIRC).

I have seen some threads for recipes, including Mudder's Milk IIRC, but not sure where they are located.
Try to click on GO TO BOARDS on the main page, bottom right of each forum group window.
Then select BLUE SUN ROOM.
Here are many threads, which you might find useful.
But one of them is the WRITER'S RESOURCE PACKAGE where many links and hopefully helpful information is condensed and provided. One includes the shortcut to searching FFF for terms or topics.

Hope that helps, in a general way.
Not, of course, to prevent anybody else from chiming in with more specific help.
