There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Why? Because it's the best gorram comedy on TV is why!

"How I Met Your Mother" is the best sit-com on TV, "Community" makes Angels cry.

HIMYM hasn't been the best comedy on TV in...wait for it...forever!

Certainly not the past few years, since Community premiered in 2009.

Say whaaat?! Awesome that Nathan will be on Community!

Community is only "low rated" because NBC kept NOT showing it. Anyone remember October 19th?

Quote:

When Annie (Alison Brie) and Professor Hickey (guest star Jonathan Banks) team up to navigate Greendale’s corridors of power, they must contend with Bob Waite (Fillion), the politically savvy head custodian who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty but is smart enough to wear rubber gloves.

As great as it might be (and he sounds like he'll be as cheesy as Captain Hammer) I hope they're bringing back Jerry the janitor.

Off hand I can think of one Castle shout-out to Community:
-Alexis Castle wore a Greendale (Elementary) shirt in "Last Call".

And two Community shout-outs to Nathan's works:
-Troy and Abed have the Firefly suicide pact.

-Annie was smuggling a stuffed frog named "Nathan" into her sleep studies class. On the ep commentary Alison said it was a nod to Nathan Fillion.

My brother likes Community... I've never gotten into it. It's really meta, and I can see how that could appeal to people and be funny for them, but there's a such thing as too meta. I've watched Community and been mildly amused, but I've never watched a Community episode and laughed. For a sitcom, that's kind of a problem.

I sometimes watch Big Bang Theory, and I laugh every time. Not a comment on whether Big Bang Theory is "too mainstream" or "fake Geek", which are the primary complaints I hear about it, just a simple statement of fact. Though I stopped watching it after the romantic character derailment started. It's also flawed in that I don't think the writers have any endpoint in mind, so apart from clever science and geek jokes scattered here and there, there isn't really anything smart about the storyline or the individual episodes. But at least I think it's funny.

There's funnier shows out there than both of them, though. And definitely have been funnier and more genre re-inventing shows out there in the past.

Nothing wrong with Nathan appearing on Community, hope people like it. Probably won't watch it. Kinda don't watch Castle anymore either. Here's hoping that Nathan will show up in something I'm interested in eventually.

If you watched Community in season 4 or certain parts of 3, I can imagine where you're coming from. A couple episodes from S3 could be a bit inaccessible, and whole episodes from 4 were just plain bad. Seasons 1 thru 2 however are pretty awesome! It isn't only about the funny; sometimes there's seriousness or other moments that make you care for the characters.

Well, that explains a bit. BBT and Community get along about as good as apples and grenades. The bits and pieces of BBT that I've seen added up probably equals only the length of one episode. I could not get past the damned fake laugh track.

Still, I double dog dare you (Futility! Yes, I'm aware that in this reality, dares have zero control or effect on anything) to watch just from the Pilot to the end of ep 3. Mwahahahah!

I enjoy both HIMYM and TBBT in syndication- the episodes from a few years ago seem funnier, more original. I wonder if both sets of writers have run out of good stuff.

No more running. I aim to misbehave.

Don't disrespect the Captain. He likes that show. I personally don't usually watch it but I won't miss that episode. His character name will be Bob Waite? I LOVE it. Oh the jokes that can emerge from that. :D
It's okay Captain I got ur back. ;D

Season 5 hasn't started yet, and NBC hasn't even announced when that will be. I predict next year after the Olympics, although it could be sooner if another show tanks early.

Watched the pilot when it first aired. And, I mean, I got the idea, satirizing tropes and stereotypes and genres and every episode is a new spoof.

While I too think that a fake laugh tack is offensive to the concept of comedy - that people need to be told what to laugh at - I still find one of the shows funny, and the other one not really.

It's personal preference, not good or bad.
