From www.countingdown.com:

Jewel Staite told me that the Firefly feature film is now in its 3rd week of filming and that everything is going very well. While Ron Glass and Alan Tudyk almost had to drop out due to schedule conflicts, everything worked out to reunite the entire cast for the movie, expected to be released in April.

One's gotta wonder if this means considerably scaled back roles for Wash and Book. At least they're on board!

Wow, couldn't imagine Serenity without Wash and Book.

From the script review it says one character is taking a smaller role because of scheduling, with Ron being the last to come on board it wouldn't surprise me if it was him. Gorramit, I don't want anyone to have less screentime. Lets just hope we get a series after the trilogy to correct it!

I don't know... Joss said that Book's and Inara's stories were to be featured, so I'm betting ol' Wash is gonna be spending a lot of time off camera.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Just having them on board is enough. It's really enough. I DO so want dinosaurs, though. Little plastic ones, and wonderful Wash lines.

Yeah, having them on board-- as opposed to not-- IS pretty sweet, and we're super-super-glad to have them. Just the same, it would be SO much sweeter if they had the time to be Total Slaves to Joss's Vision. Oh well.

Remember, though, Tudyk's schedule HAS been getting tight as of late, with appearances in both "Dodgeball" and "I, Robot." The latter is a HUGE get, I'd imagine... the offers are pouring in for the guy, and will only increase in number, after 'Serenity' is released.

Go actors go, but 'Serenity' first!

I think it's safe to say Alan Tudyk is the actor who's charactor is the one with deminished screan time he is starring in the title role of "I Robot" a movie starring Will Smith after all.

Yes that's true, but "I, Robot" opens in a few weeks, and is surely done shooting by now... and "Serenity" only began shooting on June 3rd.

true, but alan may need to be doing press junkets for both dodgeball and i, robot which would definitely take him out of town probably.

Thank God for that!
If Alan and Rod (how familiar...) hadn't shown up, they might have used :shudder: stand-in actors. You know, in a series, a character may suddenly be completely different, as the exec's have hired a new actor.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Serenity would not have been without Alan & Ron. Joss himself said he would not do the movie if he could not have the entire cast.

I have to agree that I think it will be Alan w/ less screen time than the others. He is surely making the rounds to promote I, Robot & Dodgeball. There was also talk of his filming a movie w/ Tom Hanks son in Mexico.

When you think of it though, Wash never got much screen time on the episodes w/ the exception of War Stories & The Message.

America loves a winner!

We had an entire episode w/ no Book. Cutting back screen time of either won't be that big a deal for Joss. Wash can easily be inserted to lighten up a sceen or perform a Crazy Ivan, but that still leaves 7 crew and a whole 'verse of characters out there to draw from.

I was looking at everyone's profiles on IMDB and Gina Torres was the only person with anything currently filming besides the BDM. Maybe it's Zoe we're going to see less of.

You see Alan Tudyk is the only person it could be.And it doesn't matter if he only has two films currently showing. He is the only one of the cast to be a co-star with Will Smith. In other words he is quite busy with roles.

You know considering the fact Joss made fun of him for being the cast member who could never rember his lines on the DVD. It's shocking that he could be the break away star but it's happened.

i don't understand, why is ron shepheards schedule conflicting, he's not exactly an actor in demand is he? Wasn't firefly finally his serious role. surely serenity would be a priority for him, the same kinda applies to alan but not as much i guess. Maybe somone has actually begun to realise how good these actors actually are and wants them.

Ron Sheppard? You mean, Ron Glass?

Ron has been around for decades. His major role was back in the 70s, on the series "Barney Miller".

Come on people. Tudyk is mostly an unknown, nobody, part from a handful of Fireflyfans are going to see "I,Robot" because he is in it. They couldn't care less. They go because they want action and Will Smith.

Where have you been? Alan Tudyk has been in numerous films, starting with a small role in "Patch Adams" w/Robyn Williams, then "Wonder Boys" w/Michael Douglas, "Hearts in Atlantis" w/Sir Anthony Hopkins, "28 Days" w/Sandra Bullock, "A Knight's Tale" w/Heath Ledger, even several voices in "Ice Age". Each movie has moved him farther up the ladder of success. His latest movie, that just opened Friday, is "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" w/Ben Stiller; and, "I, Robot" is due to open 07/16/04. FYI - even though Alan's character, 'Sonny', is a CGI character, Alan made every move, did every scene that you see Sonny in. It's Alan's voice and his eyes that you hear and see. "Dodgeball" topped the charts this weekend and it's a funny, funny movie - if you haven't seen it yet. People seem to think "I, Robot" will be a hugh success, as well. I hope he has a lot of air-time in "Serenity". I think he adds a lot to any scene he's in.
