My god, being an old fan of FF, I can't believe how many people I meet that love the show!!! Warms my cold heart.

I went to the MegaCon in Orlando a few weeks ago (my first Con).
Even though none of the BDHs were in attendance, I saw a plethora of Jayne hats, FF tshirts and Browncoats.

Warms the cold heart, indeed.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

As long as I've been a Firefly fan, that being since Sep. 20, 2002, it still amazes me how many people I run into that have no idea what I'm talking about. Yes, there are a lot of us out there in concentrated groups, but unfortunately we're still a relatively small fandom.

Once I found Serenity

I love Firefly and the way so many take to it makes me feel like I get it. In trying to pass it along to others I have seen where it doesn't take with them. It doesn't matter because I found great pleasure in it and with the others who have as well.

You don't get to pick your family.

I used to have a friend at work who also loved the show. We would talk about the episodes all the time, while the folks around us thought we were nuts. Then he moved back to Halifax, and I was left alone, alone in the black. Nowadays it's just me and the wife, and well, I guess that's somethin'.

I hope that's not it. Best not to confuse what is real and what is not. On a side note I would point out that the government in the Firefly series was responsible for Tara Forming the planets the Browncoats settled on. It seems a bit ungrateful to then turn around and byte the hand that feeds you. Until the movie Serenity came out, we had not really been given a reason to have that much hate for the government.

I like to remind those who hate government that they do a lot of the heavy lifting in our lives. Roads, bridges, mas-transit, police and fire. Just to name a few. All things we take for granted, want and need. People who want smaller government should go to a government web site, see what the government provides and pick what they would do away with. Medicare, Social Security, food stamps, school lunch programs.

How about corporate welfare. I'm for that.

Just a thought.

Make that Terra-Forming, as in Terra being the Latin word for Earth. Unless you are implying they were preparing to build plantation houses like Scarlett O'Hara had in Gone With the Wind.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

In the 12+ years I have been a fan it still makes me smile when a stranger will stop me to tell me "Nice shirt! Love Firefly!" whenever I wear one of my many Firefly / Serenity themed tees around town. I've even had people honk at us at stoplights and comment on the Serenity decal on the window of the truck.
