No matter who it is, you can't stop the signal. Not even with a sword.

Joss Whedon is an amazing man. He has the humor of an experienced comedian, and yet can kill of any character you dare put your heart near. It's his signature that makes up all of his excellent shows, films, and comics, but today, we're only going to be talking about the former. I'm going to rank all the Whedonesque television series from worst (still far from terrible) to best. One bit of information, I haven't seen Dollhouse, so, for now, that will be excluded from my rankings.

Okay! Let's get started...

5) "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (09/24/13-present)
Starring: Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton
Why: I'd say it's fairly obvious to all Whedon fans. This is truly the only not absolutely great thing i've seen Whedon produce, and one of the major factors is that...Joss isn't much in it. He only co-wrote one not-too-great episode and the rest has been the same sort of ehh. It did get better later on, with some surprisingly good twists, but the lack of good stories and acting just really earns it a place at the bottom.
Joss Whedon Episodes: "Pilot"

4) "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" (07/15-20/13)
Starring: Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day, Nathan Fillion
Why: A superbly good and superbly short tragicomedy musical about a meek supervillain attempting to get into the Evil League of Evil but with his consious and Captain Hammer. He's also in love with a woman at the Laundromat, and finds himself extra conflicted when she and Captain Hammer get attached. The writing is great, the music is awesome, and the actors are super fun. But it is 45-minutes, so that takes it down some.
Joss Whedon Episodes: "Act 1," "Act 2," "Act 3"

3) "Angel" (10/05/99-05/19/04)
Starring: David Borenaez, Charisma Carpenter, Glenn Quinn
Why: The darker spin-off of Whedon classic, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Featuring extremely great episodes such as "Waiting in the Wings" and "Smile Time," Angel is a perfect example of a great TV spin-off, chock-full of stories for watching, and being a suprising example of a show that improves with every season. The sheer awesomeness and nostalgia for the two ahead of it lower it down some, but only just.
Joss Whedon Episodes: "City Of," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sanctuary," "Untouched," "Waiting in the Wings," "Spin the Bottle," "Conviction," "A Hole in the World," "Not Fade Away"

2) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (03/10/97-05/20/03)
Starring: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendan, Alyson Hannigan
Why: Whedon's first big hit (that wasn't Toy Story), and his first created television show. It has it all. An awesome cast of characters that're each funny and interesting in their own way, epic monsters and challenges to face, and hundreds of great stories, such as the silent "Hush" and the musical "Once More, with Feeling." Spawning months of entertainment media low and high, this really is a fantastic show.
Joss Whedon Episodes: "Welcome to the Hellmouth," "The Harvest," "Prophecy Girl," "When She Was Bad," "Lie to Me," "Ted," "Innocence," "Becoming Parts 1&2," "Anne," "Ammends," "Doppelgangland," "Graduation Day Parts 1&2," "The Freshman," "Hush," "Who Are You," "Restless," "Family," "The Body," "The Gift," "Once More, with Feeling," "Lessons," "Conversations with Dead People," "Chosen"

Ah, we have past through many great hours of television created by the legendary Mr. Whedon, and now we have one left. You know it, you love it, it's...

1) "Sugarshock!" (No idea)
Starring: Colored artwork
Why: Now, I know it's not a TV show, but this is just so utterly fantastic I had to add it on here. The artwork, the writing, all completely full of fun and brilliance. There's nothing that can beat this talented rock band going on them wacky sci-fi adventures we all remember. Online comics are obviously the future.
Joss Whedon Episodes: All (not episodes)

So thanks for reading my top five list of Whedon shows! Though some didn't make the top, they're all great in their own right and will never be forgotten by any fan of Joss'. Tell me your favorite TV shows down below, but not before I reveal...

1) "Firefly" (09/20-12/20/02)
Starring: Nathan Fillion, Sean Maher, Summer Glau
Why: ...the real top show! I've never even read "Sugarshock!" This is the reason all us Browncoats are here. Though its time was cut so terribly short, every 45-minutes was such a pleasure to behold until the end. The cast are a family and it shows. The scripts are labors of love and it shows. The 'verse has a fashionable sense of headwear and it shows. It should be no surprise to anyone that Firefly is my favorite, of all the shows.
Joss Whedon Episodes: "Serenity," "The Train Job," "Our Mrs. Reynolds," "The Message," "Objects in Space"

Take what I said above and continue! Anyone who hasn't seen any of these shows should view these ASAP, trust me, it'll be a pleasure. As well as putting your list down below, tell me...do you recommend Dollhouse?

Bye!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

There have been several threads like this over the years. Let's see if I put them in the same order as last time.

1. Firefly
2. Angel
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4. Serenity
5. The Avengers
6. Much Ado About Nothing
7. Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog
8. Dollhouse

If you're gonna watch Dollhouse, try to get the DVDs or Blu-Ray so you can see the original unaired pilot, titled "Echo," before you watch "Ghost," which was the first episode broadcast. The rest you can stream on Netflix or Amazon.

PS: I know he's got a little to do with it, but I don't consider SHIELD to be a Joss show.

I wouldn't consider Aliens 4 in my faves, but is it not part of his works?

No idea what Sugarshock is, so I can't comment.

But as for T.V. shows...

Firefly, obviously.
Angel
Buffy
( nothing )
Dollhouse.

I really WANTED to like Dollhouse. I mean, c'mon... Eliza ! But it was just too much rehashed story lines and even sets ( Similarity between the Dollhouse and the atrium to Wolfram & Hart was striking. )

Have yet to see 'Much ado ' , but Cabin in the Woods was a hoot ( even though, too much retreaded stuff I'd already seen before from Joss )

Serenity MEANT so much, but to be honest, I think I may even have enjoyed The Avengers as much or a bit more.

Is that wrong ?

Yea, I can live with that list.

No, it's not wrong at all. It's your opinion, and you're free to keep it. I personally like Serenity better. And I guess if we're doing movies, I'll rate them:

06) "Alien: Ressurection"
05) "Much Ado About Nothing"
04) "Toy Story"
03) "The Cabin in the Woods"
02) "The Avengers"
01) "Serenity"

Also, Sugarshock was a Joss Whedon online comic that ran from 2008 to 2008.

So, you don't differentiate between Joss as director and Joss as screen writer ?

Because I really hated the ending of Alien: Resurrection. Granted, it's nice seeing the original idea for Serenity ( The Betty ) and her crew. But over all...bleh.

GWEK

I know we've gotten off TV shows, but if we're ranking, I would consider anything a "Joss Whedon creation" if Joss is the creator, director, or PRIMARY writer (that eliminates, for example, TOY STORY, where Joss was one of many writers, not to mention the folks credited with Original Story).

So...

TV Series:

1-Firefly
2-Buffy
3-Angel
4-Agents of SHIELD
5-Dollhouse

Movies and Other Projects:

1-The Avengers
2-Serenity
3-Cabin in the Woods
4-Alien: Resurrection
5-Doctor Horrible
6-Buffy the Vampire Slayer
7-Much Ado About Nothing (nothing wrong with it - just not my cup of tea)

*have not seen In Your Eyes

Also not on the movie list but worth mentioning: Rise of Atlantis and Titan A.E. Joss worked on both -- but not as a primary writer -- and you can see echoes of Firefly in each.

Yeah, it's still technically still a "Joss" work, so director or screen-writer don't much matter to me.
