There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It has been asked, but it's been a while. All of the original sets were torn down by FOX and discarded, all but a few small items saved as souveniers by a few of the cast and crew. Serenity will be all new for the BDM, based on the original blueprints but with a few minor changes.

fox sure did not waste any time. actually, they probably needed the space for another reality show or another good show that they were going to cancel prematurely. i am not bitter.

I wish people would stop confusing FOX the network with 20th-Century-Fox the studio. It's at 20th that Firefly was filmed, and the set could have been torn down in order to make room for any of the other filmed dramas for television or movies that they produce. Reality shows would be filmed in another kind of studio or on location, not on a soundstage.

You're right. I wish the Fox network would use it's real abbreviation: FBC (Fox Broadcasting Company) and stop confusing everyone.

I'd also like to add that 20th Century Fox Television production company actually waited two whole months before they struck the set. Firefly best boy grip Jim reported on the Fox boards around Valentine's Day 2003 that the sets were destroyed except for one large door. The show had been unofficially cancelled Dec. 13, 2002, and the last work on the unaired episodes had been finished before the end of January.

So it seemed like 20th waited as long as they could for another network to pick up the show.

I thought that the sets had just been folded, not ... is it... struck?

If I remember correctly, folded means that they've just been put into storage.

Struck (or whatever it was) means that the whole thing has been discarded, salvaged for other projects, and generally destroyed beyond any hope of retrieval.

I could be very wrong, though...

No, they took a sledgehammer to the set and then danced naked on the pieces. (Ok, it didn't quite happen like that, but that's how it felt):

Other sources have confirmed this. As I mentioned in a previous thread, some bits were rescued and have turned up on e-bay. A couple of months back they were selling off parts of Serenity!

Nathan Fillion commented on this in a recent post.
"My heart now looks forward to the first time I see Serenity again." "... reborn, courtesy of the creative minds of Universal. This will not be an exact duplicate, folks. Learn to love it."

I purposely only quoted two little snippets because everyone really should read the entire post. It's terrific (and has no spoilers).
