Oooh, anybody wanna start taking bets on which one will do better at da box office??

Whedon replied: "... and I'm too busy wishing this clip wasn't '70s-era sexist. She's a stiff, he's a life-force — really? Still?"

I think it'll be Jurassic World- IF it gets good enough public reviews- and simply because the Jurassic franchise is slightly better well known. I know many people who never read comic and wouldn't watch Avengers2, but would see another Jurassic. I'm also willing to bet the Jurassic has higher numbers in the Asian demographics.

Anyone else have something to add?

I'm pretty sure the box office winner will be Age of Ultron. I still love Jurassic Park but have no interest in Jurassic World.

I'm betting Avengers will kick JW's butt in the box office.
The MCU is still going strong, their last two movies were blockbusters and their TV shows seem to be doing well.

JPIII was 14! years ago and while it was successful in the box office, it was panned critically.
I'll watch Jurassic World but it's not a movie that I've been anxious to see.

Well, it does come out first, so it has that advantage. I know plenty of people who only go see a movie once or twice a year, and I doubt they'd go twice so close together...

Star Wars will prolly outdo both of 'em...

Is it me or was that scene not sexist? It was nerdist if anything. I mean I have a bachelors in science and you could easily put me in her role and a "lifeforce" woman in his role and I'd be saying similar stuff.

I don't know I just didn't get any sexist vibes coming from that scene. I got shoddy writing vibes but that's about it.

I normally try to avoid trailers, clips, promos, etc. I made an exception this time, and just watched the clip in question. I would say it is sexually suggestive, which doesn't necessarily equate to sexist, but I can see why Joss reacted the way he did. He has since apologized, but I don't think he should have.

I still have no interest. I have to assume they are treating this like a reboot, because if the history of the three other films in the franchise are still in play, anyone who felt safe going to that park is stupid.

Ok, lets say the park had been open for five years with no problems, and you got a free ticket. You wouldn't go?

Pass me an in flight cookie, I'm THERE.

PS we LUV aquariums and zoos at our house. That kinda thing would be right up our alley.

Not a reboot.

Other than the T-Rex in San Diego how much do you think the public would really know? I assume the first park disaster would be kind of an urban legend with a few people writing tell all books followed by denials and attempts to discredit them. When some new company comes in and overhauls the island and park I assume people would be cautious but curious. Some people would surely take the risk to see living dinosaurs and as more and more people come back perfectly safe I think the public would be all over it.

Jurassic World is #291 and moving upward fast, eventually into the Top Ten List.

I was really impressed with Jurassic World. It's actually a better film than Age of Ultron if you ask me. Sure there's a few just bad scenes. There are quite a few cheesy lines that didn't land the way they likely intended, but the movie is just a straight forward popcorn flick and it nails that. I never thought Jurassic World would have a chance against an Avengers movie after the first one did so well, but at this point I'll be surprised if Jurassic World doesn't win.

Jurassic World did better than I expected. I finally went and saw it, after the initial weekend, and was a bit surprised. It was better than I was expecting.

They still don't treat T. Rex w/ the due respect as they should, but at least they get it close to being right.

Ok, so I've seen Jurassic World and today I saw San Andreas. San Andreas was better. I'll take a tsunami over a T-rex fight, I guess. Wouldn't mind seeing it again, actually.

Jurassic World just annoyed me. The lead chick was obnoxious. I hate it when prissy women make that "tssst" sound after every other word. Makes me wanna smack 'em for being pretentious because you don't need to do that unless you have a lisp. And Joss was totally right about someone being stuck in the 70's. You take out the updated tech and it COULD have been set about then.

Even my kid hated her....

Crap job with character development then, I still didn't like her by the end.

I'd rather hate the villains, than the chick the guy ends up with at the end. I mean, it's not exactly a relationship ta root for (and believe me- I didn't!)

I probably need to agree with this. SA had far less plot to deal with, but did it far better.
Was the original Jurassic this bad? I remember the ramp up for the original, the postponement of that ER TV show for a few years in favor of Jurassic, and the casting I enjoyed. This one didn't exactly make me think it was much different, which makes me wonder if the first was really this horrible. I felt like I was stuck in a Gravity sequel - the stupidest people that could be found competing to out-stupid each other just like Gravity. Worse than a bad horror film. Will anybody really want to see this again, other than kids in 3D? I regret wasting my time on it. Fortunately, followed it up with Terminator on it's opening night and showtime (and a far less crowded theater than Jurassic.)

Don't disagree with what ya said. But then, the 2 boys were annoying as well, imo.

Also, Claire sort of reminded me, more than a little, of Rachel from Orphan Black. At least, that's how she started off the movie. There was suppose to be this great transformation as she began to see things differently , blah blah blah. Would have been funnier and more true to form had she stayed in origianl B-mode, despite seeing the real world, up close and personal.

Cost. TV shows cost so much per episode, compared to 20 twits gossiping about each other on reality show, which costs nothing. Comparative commercial rates wipe out quality TV.

Titanic had a great advantage: nobody knew the ending. Today's audience didn't know the ship would sink.
