VILLI

I want to create a continuation of Firefly, and its theatrical film Serenity.

I am asking not you guys, if you are interested, to be staff writers in this AU Second Season

Requirements:

Able to replicate Joss Whedons' style, yet create original stories for generations to come.

Plans:

Explore more of Malcolm Reynolds backstory. Both before the battle of Serenity, and his early years.

Show the consequences of the Pax Tapes being revealed to the public.

More gut-wrenching emotion you'd expect from Firefly.

It has already been done twice, but a third effort would be nice. New blood means new scripts.

First was Firefly – The Virtual Season. Find it here
http://firefly.populli.org/firefly-tvs/guide.htm

Second was Firefly: Still Flying The Complete Series. Find it either at the Internet Archive
http://bit.ly/14ItEy5
or at its new site, where the scripts are repacked with updated commentary
www.mzp-tv.co.uk/firefly-still-flying-complete-series/

For lazy people like me, somebody packaged all the Firefly scripts, both Joss Whedon's and these fan run sites, into one big zip file:

All due respect to the other guys, I believe we were actually first (although they might have had their official web site up and running first). Just saying. :)

With respect to your project, Villi, I wish you luck and I salute you... and I can tell you from first hand experience that it will be more work that you can possibly imagine!

If you'd like to discuss how things went down behind the scenes at STILL FLYING, I'd be happy to talk about it. I'm sure you have your own way of doing things, but if anything that we learned might help you out, I'd be happy to share.

You are right!

January 2006 is the date for the first episode of Season 2 at Firefly – The Virtual Season.

April 2006 is the date for the first episode of Season 2 at Firefly: Still Flying The Complete Series. Season 2 started in with "Lonely Places".

But the really true first episode was called Season 1: Episode 1x16, “THE BIG STICK” released on 27 Dec 2005. Starting the count with Episode 16 is like, you know, 16 times better than starting at 1.

If anybody writes an episode after the movie, please start the numbering at Season 3, Episode 1, even if it is a flashback to some special occurrence in Season 1.

I'm thinking specifically of an episode showing how Jubal Early, with only a single tank of air, survived being marooned in outer space by Captain Mal Reynolds. Bring back Early, just don't use him as he was used in the comic “Leaves on the Wind”.

Retcon those comics out of existence, please. Reuse the beautiful cover paintings for a better story. And for the love of children, let there be no Baby Wash unless Zoe is permanently leaving until her baby graduates from pilot school. Mal's leadership on Serenity is too dangerous for children.

Pizmo! Good to see you!

Since Second raised the topic, I'll give a little Easter egg here of what we had planned for Jubal in Season Three:

Of course he survived (due to a timely rescue by his pre-programmed ship), but having met -- and failed to capture -- River Tam, he wound up just as hunted as her. Where's a bounty hunter on the run from Blue Sun and the Alliance to put his unique skills to use? Working for the Resistance, of course.

When the crew crosses paths with him late in Season Three, he would have been just as psychotic, but they're now forced to work alongside him (temporarily at least), while furthering the goals of Simon's contacts in the Resistance.

Worse, he has discovered River's trigger words, so he can control her, leading Simon to the inevitable conclusion that he cannot suffer the continued existence of Jubal Early.

hell yeah, sounds like fun, personally I've always wanted to explore Jaynes origins, and his own crazy world, for a while now
