Okay, grabbed yer attentions with that one I am sure. Okay, we got Mal and Inara, obvious signs of a connection there. Simon and Kaylee, dang girl probably never tried harder for anything else in her life. Of course Wash and Zoe, needless to say more. Book has God rounding off the rest of the crew leaving Jayne and River. Just think on it though. Jayne, a man of physical violence. River, a woman of inner chaos. Sounds almost like a perfect match. Sure I am well aware of the age factor here but given, oh 2 years or so, possibilities abound.

But it wouldn't help Jayne resolve his denial of the attraction to Simon.

Or Simon deny his attraction to River.

If I were going to get slashy, I'd put Jayne with his workout buddy, Book.

^^I mean his constant questioning of Book about his sex life. I always need a little more than smoldering eye-looks.

well I definitely ship Jayne & River, and there is some very fun fanfic in our own BlueSunRoom that is about 'Rayne' LOL
but I'm afraid the age difference is a LOT more than a couple of years...
like about 15 years maybe?
Oh well, just so long as these two crazy kids can find happiness...

And of course I have to say that Joss has certainly thrown in a little incest for those who are really evil

LOL, pahnoo, you have a ton of company here! And they get more converts every day!

And as for 15 yrs, a bit much for any relationship i might be in, but plenty of folks do it....specially in that wonderful verse called hollywood.

There's a Marilyn Monroe movie where her character says, "I always thought a man being rich was like a girl being pretty."

Jayne/River: yuck. Just yuck. And whether Book actually walk the Shepherding walk as soon as he talked the talk or not, I believe that in series time he's sincere about his vows of celibacy. But if he ever fell, I think it would be with Inara, who's already given him absolution of a sort (in Serenity).

Sadistic crap legitimized by florid prose

15 years difference isn't so much when one is 45 and one is 60.

However, it is HUGE when one is 17 and one is 32.

My husband is 15 years older than me, but we didn't get married until I was 25. We're not Hollywood types - unless you count our merely having 'movie star good looks' in that category :)

"Just keep walkin, preacher man."

I believe that Book is now a celibate, but all that strange stuff about "Don't call me Grandpa; I never married and had children" doesn't seem to me to point to a preference for the ladies.

and isn't inconsistent with a former military career, either

Unless Book is trying to reassure himself that his former love 'em and leave 'em habits didn't scatter little lost sheep all across the 'Verse.
