Everybody Dies Alone.

Okay so some slight spoilers but it won't ruin the episode I promise. So last night on The X Files there was a pretty big reference to Firefly that got me really excited. So the villain just so happens to be played by the same actor who played the Alliance operative interrogating Mal's crew in the episode Bushwacked. Well at the end of The X Files episode his eyes, nose, ears, mouth and every aorta in his face begin to bleed profusely and you can hear a high pitch screeching. Which is exactly the same method that the blue handed operatives use to kill people with. Thing is I think Fox may be getting ideas about Firefly because they never ever ever ever ever drop hints or easter eggs but lately they've been doing it. In Sleepy Hollow they fight Reavers and here they had the bloody face plus the same actor who played an Alliance commander. So i'm getting kind of hopeful that Firefly may get a mini series. Anyhow I just wanted to know if anybody caught that Easter Egg and if you think it's just a coincidence or a full fledged Firefly nod?

Haven't watched it yet, but thanks for the heads up. I hope it'll be on Hulu or something.

Definitely a reference to Firefly. I saw the episode last night and was hoping others would catch the shout-out also. Very cool. Also the Escape from the Planet of the Apes (20th Century Fox) movie playing in the background in the hospital scene, it tied in perfectly with this X-Files episode.

You can also catch the episode here:

Thanks for the heads up! I love seeing Firefly references! This isn't EXACTLY the kind of Firefly reference I hope to see, but I appreciate it all the same.

My guess is that this wasn't some Fox executives idea though, so I don't think Fox is hinting at anything. It could just be that the writer is a Firefly fan (or at least saw bleeding eyes on Firefly and thought they'd work for his/her script). If I wrote sci-fi, even if I wasn't a Firefly fan, I might throw in the occasional Firefly element just to catch those diehard Firefly fans who might hear about it.

But I really, really, really, really, really hope you're right.

I'm caught up now on the X-Files, and definitely saw that as a shout out.

Pretty sure Firefly was supposed to replace The X-Files as FOX's sci/fi show. Bushwhacked (Hmm, I think I just got that title as commentary on GWB. Anyways...) seemed to have a nice X-Files feel to it.
