I'll certainly be going to the 2005 Worldcon in Glasgow. Any plans for there yet?

I'll be at the Boston worldcon. It seems like the perfect chance for a shindig.

Hey Jess

drinking anymore bubble tea?

anyway I was hoping we get get some definate plans going for WORLD CON so I could decide if I want to pay for a day (or 2) -stay overnight (though I think the hotel is sold out)
what night to plan on a FIREFLY MEET-UP

this would be the perfect place to gather more browncoats to our cause--especially if we could get a room where we could SHOW episodes to those wandering around just looking for that something to do or see

Also, I can kill you with my brain.

Yup!

Being able to show episodes would be great - we could lure people in with snacks, they'd start watching, then before they knew what was happening they'd be hooked.

you have your membership, right? do you also have a room--or are you entitled to a suite say for a party Friday night ((in honor of our show))

Its not tooooooo early to start thinking about this

Btw does your email accept attachments--I tried sending you those I promised and got undeliverable

My husband and I will also be at Noreascon/WorldCon this year. We will keep an eye out for others of our ilk but I don't guarantee anything. WorldCon is always a zoo.

I am not a copyright lawyer nor do I play one on TV; however, friendly word of advice: Be careful where, how, when and to whom you show Firefly at the con.

WorldCons and other SF&F conventions go through a lot of effort to get express permission to show copyrighted works. If either of you are associated in any way with the con (even as volunteer staff), showing Firefly to the general public without express permission from the copyright holder might be construed as the con showing it and that could land you and the con in hot water. WorldCons are unremunerated labors of love performed by not-for-profit organizations who really have neither the desire nor the resources to deal with lawsuits. So, give 'em a break for my sake: have fun but, in general, try to stay out of the kind of trouble that results in court appearances.

RiverGirl,

Don't mistake what I said. The DVDs are licensed for private showings. I believe it's only if you are associated with the con or charge admission or some such thing that you might get into trouble. Be careful is all. Read the FBI warning for real and, if you are associated with the con, ask for advice about showing it. Be sure to have fun while you are there, too!

no I am not with the con = have yet to even decide to buy a ticket ((major part of my budget - that would be)) I was just hoping to gather some browncoats here to fix something up for us all to get together and maybe gather some new prospects

that would decide me to buy a ticket--at least for the day of the shindig

I dont know anything about World Con ((just some smaller fanish ones) do you think Universal would have some sort of precense there--or could we beg them too--maybe handing out a post card of Serenity or some sort of publicity ?

Also, I can kill you with my brain.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

I searched the Noreascon Four website. They have nothing with the name Serenity, and the only instances of the name Firefly relate to Hugo Award nominations & ballot.

On their program suggestion page (BLOG)there is a post from me and a reply that states

"Just remember, "you can't take the sky from me..." Yup, we're working on something.

I would like to see a panel on Firefly/Serenity and /or Joss himself. Great stuff snuffed out in the prime of life by heartless right wing capitalist pigs (FOX). rant rave moan.

So there should be some OFFICIAL FF event(s) for us.

I could help some if someone has a suite and wants to do a "private showing" of the DVDs. This was done at Torcon last year. I can bring in some small stuff such as my DVD set but not a player as we will be coming in by the Red Line to save the extortionate parking fees.

Parties and unofficial events are always supported. I believe the con can even provide munchy money.

We will be there with some FF freebees and in brown(coat) teeshirts.

Keep Flying

this is more like it--major reason for me to attend World Con would be FIREFLY get togethers

so keep posting them--
I would be commuting back and forth but if I can help . . . .

the Firefly Lounge @Torcon (last year) played the DVDs. & Yes, I do mean 4 months before they were released. They played the gag reel, but none of the other special features or commentaries (@least while I was there).

I plan to be there, barring airline strikes or typhoons.

All my life I wanted to be somebody. I guess I should have been more specific.
