My son was doing a Sliders marathon and got a surprise. I heard a loud explosion from my son's room,"It's Wash in a commercial!"
Alan Tudyk as a stock boy stocking up the shelves with General Mills cereal wearing an apron and a bow tie! He was very cute. You never know where these shiny moments happen so we keep our eyes open for them.

Why didn't I see that coming?

Still, I hope that is the correct pronunciation as the alternative is worse.

Odd how these kinds of threads somehow always start out innocent enough, then just spiral on down.

Driving to school last night, I was struck by an odd object crossing the sky near the Minneapolis downtown skyline. It was moving too fast to get a clear view, and was too small to be an airliner. Rationally, I suspect it was some kind of advertising blimp, but for about three minutes, only one thought was in my mind.

"...Serenity?"

Was doing a drama this weekend and heard my Best friend drop a "Gorrammit Mal!" It was the fist Versal Lingo I've heard him use. A true Browncoat in training.

Apologies to RavenMyth for continued hyjacking of this thread - just one last thing.
Purplebelly - you were the voice of reason in all this. I don't get what the problem was. Well, yes, I GET it, but it could be worse.

His name could be Dick Tu-dick. Imagine the schoolyard terrorism that would have gone on with a name like that.

My instructor on Tuesday kept using the phrase "Two by two" during Illustrator instructions - I don't even know why because my brain kept responding, "Hands of blue." I said it out loud once and the person next to me said, "huh?" I pretended I was muttering at my computer.

ROTFLMAO - this is a great reason for being brave, isn't it?
And now to the topic - btw. a very shiny topic.

You could call the following: "My life as a fangirl or how Firefly helps to avoid annoying moments"

Last Saturday we visited my boy-friend’s parents on the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery (we use to visit them every three or four weeks, just to say Hello or something) – but this is just the pre-story. On our way back home we had to buy a new vacuum cleaner (yes, my boy-friend’s parents are ashes in urns… and this has nothing to do with a vacuum cleaner, I know, but it just came to my mind) because our old one was on the fritz (still is). So we went into a big department store at the Alexanderplatz.
Okay, we walked around the area with the household articles, dishes, china, glasses, pots, knives… yeah, knives. As my boy-friend saw all the big butcher knives and lots of blades and sets of razor-sharp kitchen knives he (of course) gave me one of his typical commentaries (his special trade mark) about that really dangerous life we live while we are in a big store. Every single costumer could be a potential attacker or a seriel killer or a runner amok or just a desoriented person and in the mood to kill other costumers just for fun. Now. Here. You should always watch the other people, of course, especially among such an army of knives! (btw. Sometimes I doubt that he’s just a normal guy but he’s got me so he *must* be kind of normal... I hope so.)
And before I could roll my eyes and say something like “Why the hell do you always have such negative thoughts?”… I remembered a quote from Firefly. Wash said that to Jayne in “Bushwacked” – “You’re a very up-person.” (Btw. I thought it in English – usually I think in my native language, of course, but I just know the original, not translated Firefly – I think the show will never air in one of our TV-networks, but what is TV for if you can have the DVDs? - Making new Browncoats, I know. Sigh.)
And that single quote just made me smile and grin and giggle and gave me a great feeling.
So I really forgot to be annoyed.
Suddenly Jayne went next to me.
I kept smiling and had a wonderful time just because there’s Firefly and I’m a fangirl. :-)
Yeah!
PS: We bought a new vacuum cleaner called “Fakir”.
Keep flying!

Time for some thrilling heroics.

FIREFLEW

Well, a month or so ago, after taking part in a very tiring maths exam, I went home at lunch time, exhausted. I turned on the TV, Diagonosis Murder was on and who was guest starring?

Our very own bounty hunter, Richard Brooks. He was a boxer who was suspected of the murder of a boxer who won in a match...

Diagnosis Murder is something of a guilty pleasure for me, so it was doubly shiny .

Jayne: "Know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I beat you with till you understand who's in command."

So. . .I'm watching a bunch of "Law and Order" reruns on TV recently.

Those of you familiar with the show know that our favorite bounty hunter was portrayed by Richard Brooks, who was also a star of L&O during the first several seasons, where he played an assistant district attorney.

Those of you familiar with the show ALSO know that the show is famous for the way each episode begins and ends with some sort of 'poignant observation', wisecrack or deeply reflective thought.

I wish I could remember the episode, but in the final scene. . .after convicting the killer, leaving the offices and turning out the lights, Richard Brooks and his co-star are having one of those deep discussions. I can't even remember what the rest of the line was, but I know that Richard's FINAL word was. . ."Does that seem right to you?"

==================================================
"Wash. . .we got some local color happening. A grand entrance would not go amiss."

Oh my god... (comment on Richard Brooks)

Yesterday I was flipping through stations and I come across a movie. It seemed interesting (since it was a period time film). All of a sudden, in comes Ron. I laughed and said, "I know you!". Funny how I said that and in a different post(possible Serenity in jokes FF) someone sayed the same thing about what some random person would say to Ron ("I know you")

SINGULARITY

Me and a buddy both work jobs that are lets say a little boring, trying, or both at the same time. We have started to send text messages to one another whenever it gets to much and most of the time its a line from Firefly. Well as fun as this is we got ourselves a convert and at 1 am he text messages "I can kill you with my brain".....the same night we converted him there was another guy watching the show for the first time and Mal says in the pilot.."Shoot them...politely...etc" and this guy goes "How do you shoot someone politely?" and our new convert in perfect Jayne or Mal goes "You got a gun...I'll show you" It was just perfect timing...

Nothing can escape the event horizon. Light, matter, and especially Twinkies.

I saw an ep of CSI the other day that had Gina in it!! I had just been watching my DVDs again (for the zillionith time lol) and I almost didn't notice she was on another program, like it didn't register because I was so used to seeing her. She played the head of the prision person (I don't know what that's called...warden??). I was just so happy to see one of the BDH in another role unexpectantly and without warning!! Very shiny indeed!

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

So, I'm playing the game HALO on the XBox. Having completed the game at HEROIC level, I start anew and try out the LEGENDARY level. Basically its humans vs aliens in futuristic warfare in space, for those who don't know the game. Often the Marine characters will make canned comments while fighting eg: you want a piece of me ? Is that all you got? ,etc...kinda funny, but seldom did I pay attention to much of it...until I heard one Marine say, in a cocky tone.. " I'm too pretty to die! "

I had to just smile.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

EMPRESSPIRK

A few weeks ago I watched an episode of Cold Case and early in the episode when they showed a photo of a murder victim, a girl who had been shot I immediately thought she looked familiar. I was like "could it be...and surely enough when the guest stars names started to roll Summer Glau's was there. A shiny moment. Although in the photo she looked like a normal person and not like a mental patient the thing made me think about the wanted poster Early was looking in OiS and the photo the blue hand men showed in TTJ.

Something similar happened when I turned the tv on the other day and there was a movie on. It was half way through but I didn't change channel and sat down to watch. And within a few minutes Alan Tudyk was there. He had only a small role but it was a shiny moment for me. Made me grin and think of happy Serenity thoughts. I ended up watching the rest of the movie although I knew he wasn't gonna show up again. The movie was Hearts in Atlantis.
