When you think of Buffy and Angel's seven/five seasons, one thing that immediately strikes you is how far removed the very first episodes are from the very last.

The character and story evolution was quite incredible, though the settings never changed they were never in stasis. I become wistful when I think about how Firefly would have inevitably matched up.

What would would you like to have seen by the final episode of season seven?

Personally I'd have loved to have seen Saffron "do a Spike" and join the crew, and become a more rounded individual (not too much more though) because I found her a fascinating character: ruthless, manipulating and skilled; and such a tiny little thing as well!

I would like to think Zoe and Wsh wouldn't have had a baby, or if they had it would have been born near the show's end so it would remain a (non-speaking) baby till the show's end.

Teenagers and pre-teenage kids have never done anything positive for a Whedon show...

OUTSIDER

I keep thinking of a throwaway line of Simon's, where he referred to "some underground movement" that helped him to rescue River.

Maybe the crew of Serenity would have ended up working for some kind of rebellion/revolutionary group against the Alliance - possibly even some remnants of the Independents that Mal and Zoe fought with during the war.

Also, if anyone was likely to die a tragic death before the series' end, it has to be Inara. Mysterious syinges, obscure medical exams, hidden past... sounds like she's got one foot in the grave already, if you ask me.

This is a cell of the anti-BlueSun, True Alliance faction of the Alliance. The War is over. The fight is now on against the profiteers and carpet-baggers; everyday life in Iraq.

Only Purplebelly believes any of this

The syringe you see in Serenity, I assumed that was for Inara to kill herself with should the Reavers board and inevtably take liberties...

SINGULARITY

in the end....i would have each crew member finding what they most wanted or needed.....Simon and Kaylee young newly weds, Wash and Zoe find a subtle way of balance....Wash finally getting a back bone...leaving Serenity and starting that baby. Book would finish helping Jayne become a man, not the over grown boy. Jayne would turn around and become more and more like Mal. Mal would find his heart again with Inara and she would not be long for the world....Leaving Mal with Serenity. Maybe starting over....finding a new crew to care for, to guide, and to find the hope and love that he so wishes he could find in himself.

Flight of fancy anyways...with the movie we get more...not less....and it will be mighty

Nothing can escape the event horizon. Light, matter, and especially Twinkies.

In the commentary Joss said it wasn't a suicide kit. We would have found out more about it later, but thanks to Fox there never was a later. Hopefully Inara's story will be covered in the films.
